The dog immediately reacts to what you say, and tries to walk towards the door, leading you outside. You get the sense that his reaction is a direct response to your question.
"Aye," Cragh says as he pours up an ale in a wood and silver decorated tankard for Velima. You notice the ale is remarkably crisp and cool - they must have one helluva tap. "Anything for you, uh sir?" He speaks towards Niner, noticing the sizable man giving a test of strength to their, admittedly very sturdy wooden barstools.
Strife will look around while still trying to keep his face covered and his ha ds in his robes for now... "I will be right back.. I am just going to get some air quick." The kobold will say to his companions before following the wolf towards the door (and where ever he is going)
James leads you outside, trodding along between houses and buildings with no road or path - the grass feels lush, and slightly damp beneath your feet. Before long you stand at a small residence, with all the lights off, though the door is swung wide open. You can't see much inside, on account of the difference between the moonlight and its absolute shadows. James enters the house, and you spot him blur quickly up the stairs, hearing *creaks* from the house's second story.
Thankful for his darkvision, The kobold will attempt to quietly make his way up the stairs behind the wolf, still trying to keep himself hidden in case he stumbles across a villager, his hands tucked into his robes and his gray hood covering his face. he will scan the dark room for anything that might be of intrest or perhaps give him an idea of who or what James really is as he makes his way upstairs to the wolf.
"I am fine, thank you." Niner answers. Even if the man knows what he really is, Niner has no reason to reveal his face. Someone else might stumble into this room at any point who isn't as understanding as his host. A short look goes in the direction of the front door where Strife vanished with the wolf. Considering to follow for a moment he decides against it and leans back on the chair which lets out a noticeable squeak. "Now, what is it with this rod on the wall. There must surely be some story behind it."
You waltz up the staircase, steady and focused, paying more attention to the mere fall of your foot than your surroundings. After pacing quickly up to the second story of the house, you find James standing over a young villager, James nudging at the boy's arm, turning to look at you only after you reach the top.
"You sure then, man? If you're worried what we got's ain't strong enough, I promise ya I can probably find somethin' that'd knock even a man of YOUR stature on his thick arse! Ahahahahaha!" Cragh replied, belting out an uproarious laughter at his own... Was it even a joke? Either way, both the brothers were a bit peculiar. He leaves Niner and Velima to return behind the bar, the arcane construct studying the decorum adorning the walls and shelves. His eye catches the wolven rod, and Cragh pauses for a moment before replying to Niner's inquiry: "Oh, uh, that old thing? To tell you the truth, uh, I'm not quite sure what it is. It's just a fancy staff my brother got from a traveler many moons ago. He must keep it around on account of the wolves. Very fond of 'em, my brother is. Speaking of..." Suddenly, he looks around the room, and seems a bit agitated. "Now where in the blazes has that daft James gone?! Please excuse me, I must find our friend!" With that, he dashes out of the door hurriedly, calling loudly for James as he exits.

Strife will quickly move to the young boy that the wolf is nudging and place his brass scaled claw on his arm... trying to see if the boy is hurt in any way (Medicine 18) With one hand he will quickly check the boys vitals and with the other, give James a quick scratch behind the ears. "Who is this James?" The kobold will whisper to the wolf, still checking over the young one.
Niner rises from the chair and you cloud thing the chair is relieved that it doesn't have to hold masked warforged. "I will help you. I don't want my companion to get lost." It takes him a bit longer than the old man to follow but him calling into the dark made it easy to catch up. "So, where would you think they went to?"
Velima
Velima noted the man's not answering her question, but didn't press the issue, instead taking long draws from her ale. Then he answered Niner instead about the rod being a staff given to the proprietor of the establishment many years ago. When Cragh left from behind the bar, followed by Niner, Velima looked around to see if she could see his brother, she wanted to inspect the staff further.
"Well, probably the b-" Cragh suddenly stopped his speech, then continued "I dunno, just keep yellin' and callin'! Would work best if we split up!" He paced along, walking briskly calling for the wolf, Niner assisting his search.
VELIMA
Velima steps behind the bar to examine the rod - with Braghm nowhere to be heard from or seen, she is able to examine the piece more closely. It is very ornate, and appears to be very old. Fine carvings lined the entire length of the metallic wand, and the wolf's head seems to glow under its own light.
STRIFE
The boy appears to be in perfect medical condition. His vitals are regular, his breathing is normal, and his skin looks healthy. The wolf continues to nudge the boy, though he does not respond to James's actions. As Strife bends down to scrath James's ear, he rests his head on the boy, staring at him.

Strife will attempt to wake the boy, taking his brass scaled hand and shaking his shoulder gently before slowly and carefully opening his eye lids with his thumb to see if he wakes up. A moment later, the kobold will snap his fingers and create the tasty smell of baking cookies under the nose of the boy using his gift of Prestidigitation before holding his claw to his lips and trying to think of any magic spells that might have caused this strange human-like wolf to bring me to a sleeping child..

"Posie, what are you doing," Jubilant mumbled. She'd woken up thanks to an unpleasant weight in her head. Or rather, on it. Although her Mask of Many Faces had not worn off, Posie had seen fit to climb up onto one of Jubilant's horns, seemingly floating in midair as she stared down with big unblinking eyes. "Tryna tell me something? I guess I got enough sleep when we were camping earlier anyway, fine fine." Yawning, Jubilant lifted Posie off and sat up. She headed back into the main tavern, her cat draped over her shoulder like a towel. "Velima!" She said, not bothering to alert the other to her presence first. "Whatcha got there?"
Velima was surprised by the sudden appearance of Jubilant and her exaltation. She fumbled the rod for a mere moment, but kept her composure. She eyed the tiefling coldly, "Some sort of artifact, can you make anything of it?" she said handing the staff to her.
The boy does not seem to react to anything you do. When you crack his eyelids open, you notice his pupils shaking wildly, as if he were in a deep sleep; this is normal, especially for a young boy who dreams more than grown men. The wafting scent of cookies does nothing but perk up James's nose. Your options almost exhausted, you attempt to scry some magic from the boy... You detect not one, but two distinct arcane signals - yet they feel like the same exact magical source: One from the boy, the other from James.
JUBILANT
You detect a very strong magical energy from the rod, and its arcana is familiar to you. You know it to be the magical artifact of a Witga, the Vorðr word for sorceresses and witches who live in the wild, and often commune with the Fae. While a Witga is not inherently dangerous, there have been and are many, such as the ancient Baba Yaga, who see the mortals of Er as playthings to toy with and experiment on. The Vorðr put a stop to these straying arcane practitioners.
Ignoring the cold reception, Jubilant turned it over in her hands curiously. "It's a magical Witga artifact. They're the magic users living in the wild, communing with fey and such. Not always dangerous, but they can be pretty powerful. Can't tell exactly what it's purpose is. Maybe some sort of arcane focus? Interesting to see one in a town though," she said, tossing it lightly from hand to hand a couple of times before handing it back to Velima.

"AlrightJames... Nod for yes and shake your head for no.." the kobold would say as he nods his head and shakes it while talking to the wolf to ensure James understands what he is saying. "I am going to ask you some questions and I need direct answers if I am going to help you... OK?" The kobold will wait a moment before continuing. "Is this your body?" The kobold will say, locking eyes with the wolf before pointing to the sleeping child. "Do you know who cursed... or I guess.. do you know who did this to you?" Strife will say, actually lowering his hood and exposing his brass scaled face to the wolf. "Can you take me to them and scratch your paw 3 times on the ground so I know who did it..." the kobold will say.
James nods at all your questions but the last - the boy then shakes its wolfish head. He seems unable, or unwilling to divulge who placed the magic upon him, though it is clear that the source is known to him.

Strife will let out a disappointed sigh, sliding his hand up to the orb hanging around his neck and playing with it a bit between his clawed fingers. He will take a moment to think about what to do next before pushing up off the floor and standing up to his feet. The Kobold will adjust his hood back over his head and slide his hands back in his robe before attempting to sneak back outside the building. Once outside, he would attempt to keep them from knowing where he had come from at first and upon spotting Niner, The Kobold would approach his companion. "Hey their big buddy... I think I got plenty of air... James ran off chasing a squirrel or something but I assume he will be back soon. Why don't we head back to the inn and talk with the others a bit before bed?" The Kobold, looking up to the warforged so that he can look down and see Strife's face. Strife will give the large warforged a quick wink before lowering his head again and denying a view of his face one more to anyone taller than him before making his way to the building. As he makes his way inside, seeing his companions playing with what appears to be a wolf stick... and knowing what he does... The Kobold would quickly run across the room and attempt to snatch the item and quickly examine it. "What is this?! Where did you get it? Guys, I need to talk to you all about James..." The kobold would say quickly with his eyes locked on the rod before quickly handing it back. "I think you need to put that back for now... I don't want us getting accused of being theives... I am happy not being hunted for once.." Strife will say with a hidden smile before taking a seat at one of the empty tables.
