(You can stealth there, but bear in mind that if Gell has direct LoS on you then you cannot hide, no matter how high you roll)
(Attacks into the darkness will be made with disadvantage, you don't have to guess where he is because you would know he's in the center of the darkness, but it's still at disadvantage)
Gell steps out of the farm at G11 and climbs up the worm to F9. In sighting Morthos either by virtue of flying in broad daylight or having fired a shot, and shouts out to him.
"Really? Flight now? Against me of all people? How bold. Unfortunately, it won't be enough."
He snaps his fingers and Morthos faint shadow darkens and stretches across the Purple Worm corpse until a bestial shape forms from the growing mass of darkness into a monstrous canine at E8.
"Bosco... Fetch."
Gell lets out a raspy chuckle as Bosco rushes forward and leaps to take a bite.
Bonus Action: Gell Spends to summon Bosco, Hill of Ill Omen.
(Gell can only make it 10 ft up the worm, since he only has 20 ft of movement remaining and climbing costs double)
(The hound can reach Morthos, since it can jump up to 20 ft in the air with a running high jump and then has a 5 ft reach, so you need to make a str save)
Mushroom Farm Round 3:
Gell steps out from his barn and takes his dog for a walk, and a jump, and a climb. Bosco leaps up and latches onto Morthos's leg, trying to pull him down to earth (Morthos, make a str save. If you fail, you are prone and on the ground at the start of your turn).
In response, Morthos fires two swift shots, hoping to connect with Gell's face, but both miss, one just barely.
(Gell, wait till Morthos makes a str save before you go)
Unnervingly, Bosco turns around to face Morthos and run at him. In the brief few seconds he's seen before Darkness obscures him, it becomes clear that avoiding the canine's senses is impossible while it remained on the field. And out from it does it burst out to the other side on the most direct path to the tiefling. It stops just beneath and silently howls its lament, for it cannot jump again to reach.
Yet.
A few seconds later, the darkness full creeps over the edge and encompases much of the worms middle surface. Then, a fainter apparition of shadow appears behind Morthos before fading from view.
"I would suggest surrender, but... there is something here for you to prove?"
The question is punctuated by darts of hardened shadow fly out to relentless assault the tiefling.
Bonus Action: Gell Activates Hexblade's Curse on Morthos.
Action: Gell Casts Magic Missile at 3rd level, inflict 4 times 5 plus 3 from curse for a total 23 points of force damage.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gell again has to cant his head to avoid another shot.
"You're getting warmer, Morthos... Sadly, you should've hid better before. For now that Bosco has your scent, there is nowhere on this plane you can hide."
Bosco lets out a baleful howl before leaping off the purple worm and clearing an easy five feet. Whether he lands poorly or not, he gets up again and uses the remainder of his movement to unerring chase after Morthos, taking the most direct course.
"And where he goes, I follow.."
Gell steps close to the edge to see Bosco run down the tiefling. Then, he sucks in some of the shadows to restore his power before unleashing another hail of crystallized shadow.
Bosco's Fall Damage:10 bludgeoning damage. (if an Acrobatics is needed to land on his feet: 9.)
Bosco's Position: i5 (If able to land on his feet, he gets to I5, and makes a Bite Attack.) Bite Attack: To Hit: 21 For: 7 piercing damage. If hit, target must make a DC13 STR save or be knocked prone.
(If not or does not have enough movement regardless, Bosco gets up again using half his movement, and makes a Dash to reach I5.)
(For going near a mushroom title, DC 12 Acrobatics: 11.)
Gell's New Position: N8.
Bonus Action: Convert one 1st level spell slot into 1 Sorcerery Point.
Action: Gell Casts Magic Missile at 2nd level, inflict4 times 4 plus 3 from curse for a total 11 points of force damage.
"Always with you! Dig Deeper!"
Gell twists the fast fading magic mid-flight to try and Empower the spell.
New Roll:2, New Max Damage:15.
Hound of Ill Omen:
At the start of its turn, the hound automatically knows its target’s location. If the target was hidden, it is no longer hidden from the hound.
(Sorry for cheesing the fight a LOT there, FrenchyTheDM. But, I can't take any chances with you rangers.)
Gell taunts Morthos before cursing him with his patron's power and then blasting him with a devastating volley of magic missiles.
Morthos again narrowly misses Gell, hidden in the shadows, before flying off and doing a superhero landing.
Bosco hurls himself from the top of the worm, manages to keep his footing, and then tackles Morthos, biting and clawing all the way down as the Tiefling falls to the ground. For good measure, Gell follows up with another volley, killing Morthos instantly.
As Morthos falls, Barosh steps down to greet Gell, "Well, that was certainly an efficient and brutal matchup. Congratulations, Gell, you are now the proud owner of this underground mushroom farm! Here, why don't you enjoy the fruits of your labor."
As Barosh forces a mushroom down Gell's throat, he feels himself sliding into unconsciousness, waking up some time later in the treasure room. In his room, he finds 2600 gp scattered everywhere, under the floorboards, in the closet, and even a few in the toilet. He also gains 11000 xp.
Morthos wakes up in his bed with a strange fear of dogs named Bosco and 520 gp on the floor, spelling out the word "woof". He also gains 5500 xp.
Tier 1:
"Take any one item. They're well equipped." The room contains every item from Chapter 5 of the Player's Handbook weighing 70 pounds or less, armor of varying sizes, instruments, tool kits. There are also spell scrolls, every first level spell is present (as well as spell scrolls of a level for which a magic user of the characters new level would have slots for), and an encyclopedia of knowledge. Reading these books will grant you proficiency with any one of tool kit or any one language, depending which book you choose. The books are magically infused to allow easy retention, but the magic is lost once used.
Upper Tier:
The victor may choose instead, an item from a magically infused chest that summons 10 randomly selected magic items to choose from (rarity determined by level). Alternatively they may exchange a magic item for another item of their choosing of the same rarity or lower, if the administrator has the requested item in his extensive collection. "You name it, they've probably got one somewhere."
(I'm in the barn, and the door is still close. Could Ready a shot I guess. Just how high up is Morthos above the Purple Worm?)

Mushroom Farm Round 2:
Morthos flies above the body of the worm, looking for trouble (and a flag).
(Gell is up)
(That roll was for stealth btw...)
(You can stealth there, but bear in mind that if Gell has direct LoS on you then you cannot hide, no matter how high you roll)

"Let's do this."
