Filling her confidence increasing by the warm touch of Asgar she approaches the red gems.
"Let me try deactivating this before start doing things with corpses"
She then approaches the gems, and without touching it directly starts to manipulate it, using some little metal tools, trying to deactivate it.
Ok here we go.
Arcana: 11
plus: 4
I do not know if you apply it or not, but just in case we should not forgot the +2 proficiency bonus from the thieve's tools.
Final result: 15 or 17 if tool's apply.
Lebenha's mind fills with the divine power and is flooded with a series of still images, she can see the sorcerer crafting the crystal "gems" and then filling them with magic. In a moment of divine inspiration she realizes that each crystal is charged with a Magic Missile spell. However, she cannot seem to find a firing mechanism for the trap. As she removes a crystal the grows brighter for a moment then the color fades to black and the crystal crumbles to dust.
As Lebenha is removing the crystal Thieven realizes he made a mistake. The faint glow of magic around the stairs he assumed was residual energy from the crystals he now knows is a different form of magic, an abjuration type, and it dawns on him that the stairs themselves are enchanted.
OOC: Lebenha's arcane insight resulted from her passive score of 10 + 2 for INT + 4 for Guidance which gave her a 16 Arcana, above the 15 required to identify the spell in the crystal. I used the 11 from the Arcana roll for her Thieves Tools check so 11 + 3 for DEX + 4 for Expertise gave her an 18 which was above the 17 DC to remove the gem.
At this point I would like to know what all of you intend to do?

As for me, I choose to believe that an extinct thunder lizard is running a game of Dungeons & Dragons via Twitter!
(Are all of the stairs' gems disabled? If so, I'd suggest we push up cautiously. Armor in front, spear/dagger behind, bow in back)

There was a pair of stairs, right? Do both of them have the embedded crystals? If one doesn't, we could just head up that one. Otherwise, Asgar checks behind the tapestries for a hidden door. If that reveals nothing, he'll check the hearth to see if it would be possible to crawl up through the vent. Should anyone be in need of it, he'll have a Guidance cantrip ready for them.

Lebenha sighs when the jewel turns into dust in her hands.
" I hoped that at least it will remain as a regular jewel" she says.
She pass a hand over her forehead. " Well, that was pretty hard you know? I know I know, I make it looks easier, but believe me. Those are hard to get out without triggering it. I do not know if I would have succeed without your help. Perhaps we should look for another way to go down. "
She examines the fireplace with the head of the dragon while the others check our options.
Asgar - Yes there are a pair of stairs and both sets appear to lead to the same landing on the 2nd floor. Both sets of stairs have the gems inset in every third stair. And if Thieven focuses his Detect Magic spell on the second set of stair he will see that each crystal is charged with evocation type magic but that the staircase itself is enchanted with an abjuration type of magic. However, after searching under the tapestries you do manage to find what appears to be the seams of a hidden door, but you did not find the mechanism for unlocking the door.
Lebenha - What exactly are you looking for?
Thieven - No, there is no place where the abjuration magic is stronger or weaker.
Alarien - You can search around the staircase, search the remaining corpses, examine the furniture in greater detail, or do something else....

"My divination spell will not be helpful much longer, and I don't see any secure access through these stairs, we should find another way, maybe inside the fireplace or outside, if we want to reach the next floor.."
Given that Thieven follows Alarien during his examination, then, if nothing is found he moves outside to spot if there are other access (windows) to the second floor that can be reasonably accessible.
Okay so I can please get a Investigation check from both Lebenha and Alarien, and since Asgar is assisting Lebenha and Thieven is helping Alarien both of those checks are made with Advantage!

Lebenha's your Investigation check gets Advantage., so you get a second roll and get to take the better result.
Yep, thanks! I used the autoroller they inserted on the tools for the forum and it only shows the best result on screen. If you mouse over it, you'll see that the other roll was a 1! :)

(Well, I guess I'll step into the fireplace (provided there's no fire) for a closer look. Does anyone have a water spell to put out the fire if there is one?)

No she has managed to remove only one from the stair. That step still has 3 left and there are two other steps with crystals in the risers.

"Guys, it seems that the stair itself is magical imbued, we should find a way pass through if we want"
Can Thieven, keep concentrating on the stair, found if there are some specific rung where the abjuration magic is stronger?

Asgar himself goes over to Lebenha to help her search for the mechanism around the dragonhead-fireplace.

Lebenha and Asgar, you are unable to locate anything that might be a mechanism for opening the hidden door that Asgar has found.
Alarien and Thieven, you careful search of the furniture has revealed nothing of any significance.
