((Well yeah...And we're trying to solve it. I'm not asking for the answer straight out... but what did our characters notice? I mean... that's the reason we even split up in the first place...))
There were no checks made and both groups were distracted. And, for all you or your characters know, they're not the same birds. Plus, it isn't as if the birds would be hovering 10 feet over them the entire time (if they are the same birds and aren't flavor added).
Crush would refuse the gold, holding up a large heavy glove. "You earn" He would say with a nod and a smile. Crush would then look around the room to see how people respond to her question.
The mention of the Stonetooth brothers gets some cautious glances from the assembled crowd, some people immediately ducking away as if they've suddenly been called to an urgent meeting, others pretending like they have no idea who you're talking about -- some of those looks are genuine, but others not so much.
Seeing people move to the exit, Crush would move to the doors of the tavern, hoping to block the exit and prevent anyone that knows information from leaving the inn. The large orv would stand with his hands on the hilts of his axes and glare at anyone avoiding answering Veyres question.
Some of the people who had been assembled outside the Crawling Spider follow the party inside, with Veryes playing a sort of pied piper. When the question about the Stonetooth Brothers is asked, people scatter, as mentioned.
When asked for information though, there are some people who indicate that they would be willing to talk, but not in public. There's a lot of uncertainty about talking about them in public, being seen talking about them in public, and being seen talking about them in public at a place with a reputation like this.
Usul is able to spot a few unattended coinpurses, their owners drinking their breakfast today and not paying much attention to their belongings. There is the period-equivalent of a cash register behind the bar, and a bored looking, hungover bartender the only thing guarding it. There are a few people who are probably waitstaff sitting at a table off to the side themselves, occasionally checking on their tables, but besides the few copper pieces they might have in tips, there's not much there. There's just not much else of value around right now; this isn't the crowd that would show off a lot of wealth.
Aria would get the sense that this is all very surreal -- they're not just in a run of the mill dive bar, they're in a very dangerous bar -- easily the most dangerous in this district, if not the most dangerous in Waterdeep - and they're there early in the morning interrogating the breakfast crowd. Who goes to a place like this this early in the morning? Who stays at a place like this all night long? How smart is it to walk into a place like this and start asking about people they've been told are trouble without any kind of deception?
Looking around, while he may not have the insight that Aria got, Usul can probably tell that this is a rough crowd. He doesn't like to stand out, or risk himself, so will keep low in here just trying to remain generally unnoticed ((hopefully not hard with a bard and an orc taking attention~)), but available if the group needs something. Instead he'll just try to listen to chatter around the room, seeing if he can pick up anything. perception 5stealth (if needed) 21
Also, seeing the bar being very busy, he would have leashed Muad up outside, just off the main path, and given him a bone to stay busy, but safe.
Given how hostile the environment is, Sen entered with the others and then immediately backed out. He's now standing in the street just outside the tavern, looking around and trying not to get in anyone's way. He scans the street, looking for anyone who's hanging around on a corner looking shady: Perception2
Aria walks over to where Crush and Veryes are standing and she whispers to them... Might be best if we either say we're trying to hire the brothers or that they have some information for them. The way everyone's reacted... they seem downright scared of them.

(Hmm. I actually wasn't planning on walking in, just talking to the folks on the street I was busking for but all good. I should have jumped in to post sooner... So with this new situation)
Veryes notices Sen getting uncomfortable which on it's own is nothing unusual but then noticing Usul back out of the bar also she gets a bad feeling. 'Shit', she thinks to herself, 'we've really gotta stop getting in trouble in bars'. Whispering to Aria "Let me know if anyone looks like they're going attack me please?"
Feeling committed to her present course Veryes confidently walks up to the bar and looks around at who's next to her.
Perception: 3
She then says to the barkeep "I brought some customers in for ya. Sorry if I stirred the pot asking about the brothers, but I'm a girl who likes to get what she wants. Right now I'd like to know where to find the stone brothers. Actually, I don't really give a shit about them personally, I just need to ask them about someone"
She puts 10 gold on the bar with her hand covering it waiting for the reply. Persuasion check: 24 (if you want deception, or intimidation instead they are both -1 from that roll)
(Just wondering, does Sen keep that book of his with him?)
No one is able to spot anything suspicious in the Spider, outside of Aria's sense that they're out of place. Usul disappears from sight, but doesn't hear anything useful.
Veryes' convinces the bartender that they're there for legit reasons and might have business with the brothers, and is told they're going to be back there later that night with their people in one of the rooms downstairs, if they want to try to get a meeting then. The bartender then puts their hand over Veryes', to claim the gold.
Aria turns to the group... We've got sometime until the brothers will be here. We might want to think about finding some work while we wait. End up spending all of our coin before we even find the poor girl...

Usul speaks up "Agreed. We're always on the lookout for some coin. And with all of us together, we can probably do more than we were ever able to alone. Shall we check the job board?"((I'm not sure where it would be, but Waterdeep must have one. And Usul would know~))

Sen looks around to see if he can spot anyone who seems a little too keen to claim they don't know anything about the Stonetooth brothers: Insight: 2
Edit: There are only honest, upstanding citizens here. If they claim they don't know, then that's the truth, and shame on Sen for doubting them.
