Veryes nods to Sen "That's a good idea. Perhaps we back at the bar from last night?" Then turning to Aria. "You're a woman of the woods. Do you have means to communicate with animals?"
“My father taught me to track at a very young age. But we hunted for survival and to eat. He never wanted us to create bonds with them, which I always tried to fight. I did try to teach a few animals a few tricks but nothing too crazy for fear of what he would say if he found out. If we split up, I can track their movements. If they are regular ravens I can call to them and get their attention. If they’re something other than that.... I’m not sure what good I’d do”

Veryes says "Hmm, alrighty, well splitting up may give us some insight. I wish there were a way to find out if we're being spied on, but I guess there's nothing for it. We could also just ignore them and go about our business and see what happens." Leaning in close to the party she whispers "You don't think it's Shad spying do you?"
If we go back inside Usul can pull out his map of Waterdeep, and show everyone a different path towards the Crawling Spider. Then say "We can all split up, and plan to meet here" pointing to the map "to continue our search. This is where the Crawling Spider is that we were discussing."
If the party decides to do that, he'll plan his path to go through the market to get the doggy backpack and meaty bones on the way. He also moves quickly through cities, so should have no problem even stopping and then meeting the group.
I, um, don't think we should all split up, says Sen nervously, alarmed at the thought of moving through the city streets alone to an unknown destination. Two groups, surely? And not too far apart, close enough that we can help if the other gets into trouble.
(Sen's suggestion is that they split up just enough to force the ravens to choose one group or the other (or split up themselves); but still close enough to be able to call for help if needed. This might involve taking two different streets, but both leading to the market or the Crawling Spider, for example. )
Usul nods, replying "Easy enough. You come with us through the market then. We'd love to learn a bit more about how you cast your spells. Crush can go with Veryes, he might need someone to speak up for him, and she's got quite the quick tongue. And Aria can join either pair."
((Note.. I've left Gat out of this math... He hasn't logged in in a week, and his last post before that simple insight check had been a full week before.))
((Assuming it's on the way, then Usul would make a really quick stop. Just for the dog backpack and bones. Since he moves fast in towns, and can lead those fast (Urchin background), it shouldn't affect arrival times)) ((edit.. though actually it might also make us harder to follow. Usul leads and moves at double speed through cities))
The party splits - Crush and Veryes going one way, Usul and Sen the other, Aria trailing behind them to try to watch the ravens. She hears them squawk a few times defensively as the 3/5 of the party walks underneath their ledge, but loses sight of them when the birds fly off.
The team headed to the market make it there without issue - Usul is able to purchase a few bones for Muad, and finds several options for backpacks for the dog: one option has seen better days and has been patched up quite a bit and is selling for 1 gold, there is one in pretty good shape for 2 gold, and one slightly larger for 3 gold. The bones all cost a few copper. Which backpack does Usul go for?
The team of Crush and Veryes are following Usul's instructions as best as they can - roll an intelligence check to make sure they're able to remember everything he told them about which way to go.
If anyone else has any rolls they want to make, please do so now. I'm working from home tomorrow so should be able to update earlier in the day barring any disasters, just FYI.
Usul will go ahead and take the larger one. Later when he gets a saddle he'll try to tie this on as a saddle bag. He'll then again ((please dammit roll higher)) try to get Muad to sit, animal handling5 ((edit.. jesus ******* christ... I cannot get a good roll for this dog :( )), and will give him a bone, say "That's a good boy!" and put the bag on him while he chews. Then "ok, let's go! It's just around this way" to the party.
Sen pats the dog tentatively. Good, um, boy?Animal Handling: 18
He's not really interested in anything in the market today, as his funds are still very limited, so he's happy to follow Usul to the Crawling Spider. He glances around for any sign of the ravens as he does so. Perception13
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As the orc made his way through the streets, he would have scooped up Veryes once again and stuck her on his shoulder. "Make sure Crush find way" Crush would grunt to Veryes as the sound of his heavy boots and armor clank and thud with every step.
(The lesson is that when I say something like, hopefully no disasters happen that prevent me from posting, it's asking the universe to send me a disaster.)
In one part of Waterdeep, Crush and Veryes are lost.
In the market, as Sen is able to make friends with Muad while Usul proceeds through his transaction as quickly as possible, Sen hears someone yell out "OY! THEM'S THE ONE'S WHAT ROBBED US LAST NIGHT!" Turning, he sees an angry dwarf pointing at himself, Usul, and Aria, and then grabbing the arm of another dwarf next to him to get his attention. "RIGHT THERE! THEM!"

Aria's arrow hits the ledge and sends several of the birds flying up, then settling back down a few feet away, cawing angrily.
How is the party splitting up? Crush and Veryes in one group, Usul, Sen, and Aria in the other? Just want to confirm.
(Gatt's player is stepping away with the understanding he can come back when and if he can.)
