(Sorry about that - the system ate my rolls, but I'll take the DM's substitute =) Also, if Kirinar was within 5' of Qawasha, he would have used his Protection bonus action (While wielding a shield and a creature you can see attacks a target other than you within 5 ft., you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll.))
"That is the biggest snake I've ever seen!" Kirinar exclaims once he is sure it is well and truly dead. "Nice work, everyone. And I like the fireworks, Doc!" When everyone is ready to move on again, the fighter will take the point, or second in line behind Qawasha the guide.
He makes a motion and mutters a few words that Dr A recognizes as a cure wounds spell. His injuries then disappear.
"I am ready to continue when you are. That beast could eat a man whole, gear and all! But you all fight well. Better than the last group I led into the jungle."
Timber is just excited that no one was badly hurt. "That was a big snake indeed! Its good to see everyone can look after themselves! Ready to keep moving on!"
4 days later you make your way through the jungle to Port Castigliar. You find that it is exactly as Qawasha described. 7 ramshackle huts remain of this port. Nothing of value can be found, the place long abandoned. You easily find the graveyard. It has been dug up, the markers strewn about on the ground. You also find the supply depot. It has been cleaned out. Any remaining items are torn apart and scattered around.
"It has been like this for many years." Qawasha tells you.
"Well, that was a worthwhile trip," Keyleth says with a sigh. "Ah well, at least we've seen it for ourselves. Moving on? Back toward the laughing gorge I suppose?"
You make your way SW along the path of the river Olung. 3 days later you find yourselves on the outskirts of the ruined city of Mezro.
The ruins that were left behind form a circle. Four main avenues to the north, south, east, and west meet at a central plaza. The whole ruin has subsided over the centuries, so that water from the River Olung flows over the ancient wharfs. Crumbling, vine-covered buildings rise above the flooded streets that are now more like canals than roadways. The site is eerily quiet.
"I'm starting to think we should just take Qawasha at his word when he says there's nothing of interest somewhere," Keyleth says, seemingly unfazed by the fact that Qawasha is standing right there. "Moving on?"
OoC: Did Keyleth see any entrances to anywhere during her search? (Probably not, with that roll, regardless of whether any exist, but let me know if another roll is called for.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dr Arbutaveyu starts wandering up and down the streets looking at the buildings and structures all the time muttering to himself "aaah but, hmm interesting, could be," etc. Is he able to: 1. Determine how long long ago the town was abandoned? 2. Determine what might have caused it's abandonment? 3. Determine where the libraries and/or temples were?
Dr. A recalls that Qawasha said the city was destroyed in the Spellplague. During his wanderings of the ruined city he recalls during his studies of the Spellplague that it was in The Year of Blue Flame, 1385 DR, when the Spellplague struck the world, a great cataclysm separated the Chultan Peninsula from the rest of the continent. It was then that the city was destroyed, its flooded streets and broken buildings all that remain.
He finds the old amphitheater and what he believes was the Library of Mezro. This three-story-tall building housed parchment books detailing over fifteen hundred years of Mezroan culture. It also included a museum of statues, paintings, and musical instruments. But none of that remains. The treasures lost, destroyed or taken away by decades of looters and the work of the Flaming Fist.
In the center of the city he finds the remains of the Temple of Ubtao.
"Created by Ubtao, the ancient, magical, nine-story, golden-domed temple was the center of Mezro. It contained a Hall of Champions and the King's audience hall, from which the bara Osaw ruled."
Qawasha speaks with reverence.
"Ubtaois the patron deity of Chult. He is also known as The Father of the Dinosaurs, Creator of Chult, Founder of Mezro, and The Deceiver. The many jungle spirits worshiped in Chult are all aspects of Ubtao."
As they stand outside the temple they realize that they see a man standing inside the crumbling building. He is not dressed as Flaming Fist.
Timber is just following the group, looking around with a mix of awe and interest. When he spots the man, he waves and calls out, "Ho there!" When Timber gets closer to the man, he continues, "What brings you to an abandoned city on your own?"
Dr Arbutaveyu looks up in surprise from a detailed carving he was studying and says "Oh I'm a sorry I didn't see you, could see the forest for the trees you see"as he looks around at the jungle that has overgrown the city. "My name is, oh don't worry just call me Dr Arbutaveyu like everybody else. No we are not treasure hunters, I am a Scholar of the Arcane and was most recently at the Great Library of Candlekeep and these are my travelling companions. I was in Chult not long after the Spellplague and had heard that this city was destroyed. I didn't get a chance to visit then, being a bit distracted by the wildlife" pointing to a gash in his shell "but now I am back. It is amazing how quickly the jungle can claim the works of men if given a chance isn't it?"
At the mention of the spellplague a sadness crosses the man's face for a moment. But it passes as quickly as it came.
The man looks the party over.
"A tortle, a tabaxi, an elf and a human. All geared for adventure. Most interesting. Well, it is good you are not treasure hunters, for there is no treasure in Mezro any longer. Just empty buildings. So you seek the lost places of Chult for research?"

Kirinar's attack - Attack: 23 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
His morningstar smashes into the beast and you can see the flesh shudder under the blow.
Then a blast from Dr A strikes the snake and its crashes to the ground dead!
100 xp each for the combat.

Love God. Love Others. Any Questions?
Qawasha is unperturbed by his injuries.
"I am fine and will be better in just a moment."
He makes a motion and mutters a few words that Dr A recognizes as a cure wounds spell. His injuries then disappear.
"I am ready to continue when you are. That beast could eat a man whole, gear and all! But you all fight well. Better than the last group I led into the jungle."
"Hmmm, I'm obviously a bit rusty though. Oh well better to get the cobwebs blown away early!" Dr Arbutaveyu responds to Kirinar.
