After taking the cube out of the serpent's mouth she waits for a few seconds, holding her breath with her eyes squeezed shut, in case of a delayed reaction from the shrine. When none comes, she exhales with relief.
"Can't we just go back the way we came, across the rope? I think there's just one more cube, right? The one presumably in the shrine the grung king is guarding? I suppose the next order of business is to look around for his missing son."
"Guess we should look around a little to see if we can find any evidence of the grung youngling...if not here then in the surrounding areas before returning to the frog king."
You are able to safely leave the shrine. Using the rope bridge that you put up you are also able to safely leave the island and get back to the main portion of the city.
With that behind you, you begin to make your way west and south. You enter buildings and check yards, always on the lookout for the lost grung. Eventually you come across the river and have to head north a bit to find the fallen tree to cross again. Time passes and the afternoon wears on as you recross the river and head south again.
Eventually you are beginning to think about a place to rest for the night when you come back to Shagambi's Shrine (4). On the backside, as you reach the edge of the rift you see a group of vegepygmies encircle a bound creature and perform a strange, ritualistic dance.
Dr A peers somewhat short-sightedly at the crowd "ahbut these old eyes aren't as good as they used to be. Can one of you younger ones tell if that bound individual is our somewhat errant grung?"

"Either way - the creature is bound and an unwilling sacrifice. We should put an end to whatever obscene ritual that is!" Kirinar readies his yklwa and shield and starts advancing on the group...
Keyleth can't see much as the group surrounds the bound figure. She counts 8 vegepygmies and one additional that looks like a chief. She also sees some sort of thorny looking creature. But she can see that these small creatures have another small creature bound and color comes through and she is pretty certain it is the grung that you seek.
She ducks behind the edge of the shrine as Kirinar approaches the group. They quickly turn to him and the chief looking one screams in a language none of you understand but his intention is quite clear as he points his spear at you and the small creatures move towards you.
Keyleth, hidden behind the building, hits the chief right in the chest and blood pours from the wound but he is still up. Her attempt to hide agian fails as the chief points her out to the others and gestures at her.

If Kirinar is attacked, he will use his reaction to Parry the blow with his shield, reducing the damage by 7.
(On Kirinar's turn:)
Kirinar laughs as he engages the vegepygmy chief and his minions! "Never thought of myself as much of a cook, but here I am shredding cabbage!!" he yells as he slices and dices and slashes and chops the plant creatures around him! He attacks the chief until he goes down, then targets the thorny creature if it is within 10', and then any other vegepygmies.
Attack 1 on chief: 14 Damage: 9 --> If it hits, he does a Sweeping Attack on any enemy within 5' of the chief and 10' of Kirinar, causing 7 damage!
Attack 2 on chief: 26 Damage: 13 --> If it hits, he does a Sweeping Attack on any enemy within 5' of the chief and 10' of Kirinar, causing 2 damage!
Action surge!! He will continue his vicious attacks using the +1 yklwa...
Attack 3 on chief/thorny/others: 14 Damage: 8 --> If it hits, he does a Sweeping Attack on any enemy within 5' of the chief and 10' of Kirinar, causing 5 damage!
Attack 4 on chief/thorny/others: 26 Damage: 11 --> If it hits, he does a Sweeping Attack on any enemy within 5' of the chief and 10' of Kirinar, causing 5 damage!
If he was injured, he uses his bonus action to catch a Second Wind, healing 14 points of damage!
As the vegiepygmies close on the party Dr A touches a tattoo on his wrist that looks like a sunburst and intones "great mistress of the weave protect us from these rampant plants" he then turns to the others "ahbut I think they are plants even though being mobile they do not meet my desk bound colleagues at the Great Library's definition of a plant?"as he casts Guardian of Faith on the area in front of the party.

Dr A conjures the guardian of faith
14, 20, 10, 12, 18
and the vegepygmies, being unintelligent creatures, do not understand what it is. Even after the first couple of them rush forward to attack and are burned up by the radiant energy the remaining 3 also press the attack, too caught up in the throes of their earlier tribal ritual to care and are also burned up.
Kirinar steps forward and cuts the chief down, splitting his moldy body in half. He then lunges at the Thorny catching it once with his magical yklwa for 11 damage. But a look of concern crosses Kirinar's face as the wound begins to knit back together. While not fully healed it is not as injured as it was.
Thorny then lunges at Kirinar Attack: 8 Damage: 7 but Kirinar laughs as the creature misses completely.
Attack: 14 Damage: 8
Attack: 18 Damage: 9
Attack: 23 Damage: 6
2 arrows hit the thorny creature as Artus' bow twangs.
Keyleth is up but not hidden

((FYI - I did not roll saves for the Guardian of Faith because even a failure killed the little guys))
Kirinar carefully walks over and motions to the figure to hold out his hands if he could. He slowly draws his dagger and cuts the bindings, being careful not to hurt the prisoner.
