Mateu will keep the small amount of information he had gotten about the Lord to himself since none of the party seemed interested in it. He will take a spot by himself and mess about with his new Hand Crossbow. While he does so he will sip at the drink he ordered, smirking to himself as he watches the rest of them. "Still stuck on a name? Well we could always go by the name that one eyed elf gave us. What was it again... Something along the lines of the the Worthless Whores..." He chuckled at the last part downed his drink in a single gulp.
(Cart is done "this evening". DM can tell us but I took that as 4-6pm. Question is how much light to we have? If we can get more than 2-3 hours in it might be worth it to go tonight.
Horse should get us there faster, I don't know if its 2 days instead of 3, but getting in a little early might give us time for recon)
((Agreed. And there is little reason to stay another night other than to just party and earn a small bit more gold from the tavern. I'm down to just take everything prepared (good job on prepping food) to get the cart, and head out straight from there))
ooc: yes, this evening will be around 6, and we hadn't talked about it yet but this the height of 'festival season' so middle of summer and it will stay light until 9ish
ooc: There was no specific mention of pay when you were invited to play, just 'fair compensation'. It is considered a great honor to be invited to one of his parties. His family is well known and holds much sway with the nobles of the region.
Dox is just going to prep supplies and wait until 6, casually talking to the others and seeing if everyone agrees to get a few hours down the road before night.
Mateu... "Still stuck on a name? Well, we could always go by the name that one-eyed elf gave us. What was it again... Something along the lines of the Worthless Whores..." He chuckled at the last part downed his drink in a single gulp.
Mimzy turns to Mateu and smiles at his jest, "some may regard this one, as a whore... but my body is a temple and my lovers are but worshippers seeking to leave an offering at my altar."Then she shrugs and looks at the others, "if your cart is ready and there are less than four hours of daylight light left then perhaps we should spend another night here. Starting a long journey so late in the day or traveling in the night invites nothing but trouble and ill luck. So if our travel time is limited best to get an early start at first light, but whatever you guys prefer, I'm good."Then pondering further she asks, "so which of you lads actually know how to operate a cart or wagon since no mention of roadie or hireling has been mentioned?"
OOC: I believe that is a tool thing, Vehicles (Land) but most likely we could by get by without it, maybe a minus or at a disadvantage if we run into rough roads, a treacherous stream/river to cross or a swinging bridge to drive across... or traveling into the night. Just a thought...
OOC: Correct Mimzy. Having vehicle proficiency is very helpful if there's any need to make any checks while driving. Anyone can operate a cart they just don't get any bonuses and, yes, in certain circumstances I would impose a disadvantage on the roll.
"If we stay until morning I have a thought. When the cart is dropped off we ask for a driver, offer a little finders fee to the shop owner and pay who he sends. Maybe over time we can learn to drive just in case we don't always have someone. "
"I drove a wagon around when I needed to during the time I trained under my master but for the most part we had drivers who were meant to do that for the troupe." Mateu says. "But yes hiring a driver will be useful." As he speaks he slides a piece of paper with the information he had on the Lord over to Halleck, motioning for him to read it quietly.
Mimzy listens and smiles, "did anyone inquire about the state of the road itself and the journey to the keep... hopefully it's a larger well-traveled trader's road, in good repair without major obstacles to contend with... if so then we should be just fine with just a casual driver... but you have Druidic training don't you Mateu, perhaps if needed an Animal Friendship on the draft horse could be helpful if it be of a nervous disposition and what of the weather Matue, what does your Druidcraft tell you? No coming storms or rain I hope..."
Mimzy smiles at Dox, admiring his new blade, "oh my that is lovely," she coos, impressed. "Is it enchanted as well? From what shop, the name... did you purchase it from, do they carry short swords, what of the shop's inventory, do they only deal in weapons or do they also sell miscellaneous enchanted items... potions and the like? Looks like I missed out but then I don't have the coin to spare for such. So perhaps it's for best, nothing worse than wanting... for something or someone you cannot have." She giggles, "it looks as if you boys spent your time wisely and have everything all arranged and in order then."
"I got it from a gnome. He had a lot of stuff. If you go I think he likes it if you act scared. He gave me the armor for half my winnings in the fights so I think he does deals."
Mimzy looks at Dox... "a Gnome? Not a real shop then, and what was this Gnome's name pray tell? Half your winnings... fights, plural... huh, is that for your entire life or just a certain set period of time? How does he know when you get into a fight for money and win... and how does he collect, etc. when you are like way off in another town? Does he have a minion on your tail to follow you about or did he just put some kind of a spell on you to track you and your activities?" She shakes her head, "did you actually cast or get a Detect Magic or an Identify on the blade by a third party to make sure its the real deal and not a temporary glamour of some kind? I don't know, sounds kinda sketchy to me... but what do I know."
Mimzy nods, "oh just the tournament fights then... well if it's just those, you should be good but you can bet he will definitely have eyes on you there. Too bad you didn't ask more about the Red Wolf Keep and the infamous Lord Wolf, not to mention the road ahead between here and there but all good, we like surprises after all don't we Doxxie, at least I do!"She smiles... content but somehow feeling that is not the end of the story, at least she hopes not.
Skip never being too far from any conversation going on downstairs buts in "Oh, the bookie? We all just call him Shorty. He's harmless enough. Well as long as you pay your debts. He tried his 'I'm a big scary person' routine on ya huh?" He chuckles " He does that with everyone. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes bets on whether it works someday."

((Halleck was specifically curious...))

Hearing the reasonable concerns he hadn't even slightly considered Dox pulls out his sword he already showed everyone"I did manage to get this"

"Oh he made it clear the minotaurs would collect if I didn't pay. Yeah, he seems to employ 2 minotaurs."
