Lorskan takes a sip from his water as he watches Maive dealing with the traps "Keep an eye out just in case the little buggers turn up or are watching us, everyone try and stay in view of at least one other person"
Umbutu leads the way into the underbrush to the right of the trail and returns to the track once they have passed the traps, effectively 'going around' them.
Ivolyn hangs back with Lorskan. "Do most goblin tribes have tattoos? Something is nagging at me about that mark," the young woman mutters as she rifles through her mental bookcase.
Ivolyn craned her neck as she passed the pit trap trying to see into the bottom, though the waning light made her attempt impossible. Her curiosity about the social system that would allow creatures such as goblins to band together to create works that benefited the entire clan occupied her mind. It was a good thing, because fear would have been the next emotion had she thought about the deadliness of such “public works” projects.
“Once I found myself lost in the library at the Arcane Conservatory while I studied there. I ended up being trapped for the night,” she admits and glances toward the Dragonborn. “It was more frightening than it sounds,” Ivolyn mumbles defensively. “What about you?”
Umbutu lurches forward to catch Maive before he realizes that the nimble bard has avoided the trap without his help. "I cannot see anything in this confounded darkness. Perhaps those with night vision should take the lead."
Turning to the group, Grimbeard points towards the cave entrance. "The trail leads into that cave. If we cross the river we might be able to get a better view into the cave."
Ivolyn nods to the dwarf as she leans on her quaterstaff to catch her breath, glad for the break in the march through the woods. “I will let keener eyes lead the way, but I can produce light if you need it.”
"I suggest we take a temporary reprieve out of sight of the cave mouth. I must ensure that my wound does not get infected, and I believe we could all use a bite to eat." Umbutu says.
Maive holds his hand up, signalling the group to stop. "Traps." He says, and begins circling around the group of trees.
