Ilena raps the table with her fingers while she listens, the other gloved hand on her chin while she listens, elbow resting against the edge of the table.
"Did the Zhentarim have any markings or tattoos that distinguished them? And do you know which way they all headed? Who might know more about where the young Neverember frequents?"
The dwarf turns back to you after a long look at the three guys in the back, "Wha? Oh, no they've not been in. Which is odd, ta be certain. They're usually good fer a toss o' the dice." The laborer shrugs his shoulders and returns to his ale.
But one of the three guys gets up and comes over, leans in to the group so he can talk quietly. "You didn't hear it from us, but the Doom Raider's ain't had anything to do with this. You'll probably find this lot at a warehouse on Candle Lane, they've put a Zhent flying snake above the door, though again, they ain't Doom Raider Zhents." Then he looks at you, clear eyed. "That's what I've heard, at least."
OOC > Refresher on what Semmy told you: seems two groups calling themselves Zhentarim are working in Waterdeep now, the Doom Raiders are the originals, and then there's a new group. The Xanathar Guild seems not to understand, or care, about the difference, and is killing whichever ones cross their path. Candle Lane is back north, still in the Dock Ward. Interesting People Guide is updated with this info now.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Hildigrim leans toward the man, matching his volume. "We appreciate the information, friend. We've heard there are two factions of Zhents working in Waterdeep, now: the Doom Raiders and some newcomers. Are you connected with either?"

Ilena has pulled out her journal and is recording some things and sketching people again, trying to keep her actions low key and literally under the table. Under a quick sketch of the half-elf she writes doom-raider vents.
Hildigrim looks confused for a second, then appears to comprehend, grins, and gives the young-looking man a cheeky wink. "Can you give us directions to this warehouse?"
He smiles. "It's north of here. You can dip out to the Way of the Dragon if you're none too sure o' the Dock Ward, and then turn in on Candle Lane. Warehouse is middle o' the block. Flying snake painted there. Maybe your friend is there."
OOC > Does he party proceed? I'll move it along shortly, if nobody objects.

You gather the group and head out. North back out of the alley you're in, then a little east to the Way of the Dragon. Normally bustling, past midnight it is quiet. You head north under Hildi's guidance, about ten minutes until you see a small alley running off to the left, Candle Lane. Following it west and north, the buildings crowd in tall, and the street lamps are broken out. Just one remains lit by a Continual Flame, and under it, the door to a large warehouse is closed tight. There is a crude flying snake painted in black above the door.
You are about 60 ft from the door, and the pool of light from the streetlamp, when you see it.

Hildigrim: The building is two stories, and as you approach the open area in front, you see three possible entrances. The door, which has a small sliding peephole at about 5 feet up, a large warehouse loading door next to it, and to the north where the building juts out, a painted over window. There are no windows that can be seen through, and no windows on the second storey. You listen at the single door, but do not hear anything. The door is not trapped, but is locked.

This is Ilena's first experience casing a suspicious warehouse, and as such, she is inclined to follow Hildigrim's lead. She mimics his stealthy stance and tiptoes as well as she can in her heavy winter boots. She tucks her face in her scarf then pulls back the hood of her coat and leans an ear up against the painted window, to see if she is able to get a sense of what is going on inside.
Hildigrim motions to Ilena that he is going to check the perimeter of the building and moves off to check the sides and back as well in a clockwise direction.

She asks, with a bit too much interest.

"When was the last time you saw those three?" Hildigrim asks. "Have they been in since that night?"

"Let me first," Hildigrim says to the others. He stealthily approaches the building in an attempt to make sure they can enter as safely as possible.
If there are windows, he looks in them. He checks the door for traps. He listens for noises.

Meanwhile, the camera pans to a suspiciously red log that is floating in the bay. Ain’t nobody gonna find Pascal... ain’t nobody.
