Gribz

Gribz will draw his light crossbow and track the dark shape as it moves through the trees. He won't wake Chad or fire at the shape unless it proves to be hostile.

Action: Ready, If the small dark shape proves to be hostile, Gribz will fire at it with his crossbow and wake Chad with a yell.

Attack: 23 Damage:7

As Gribz readies his crossbow and takes aim, he sees a small 5ft bird with dark feathers and loose black clothing emerges out of the trees. The first thing you notice is its shiny obsidian like beak with a mirror finish. This creature is a Kenku with a scar above its right eye. 

Gribz

Gribz will think (What in the nine hells...?) and look over to see if Zack is seeing the same thing. He'll then turn back to watch the Kenku and continue to ready an attack in case it becomes hostile.

With Zack’s distance from the trees and lack of darkvision, all he can see is a small dark object. 

Zack

Zack, still unsure of what exactly is going on, readies himself, and his sword. If something attacks him, he'll retaliate immediately... but he also won't call out to it.. on the off-chance it's some Goblin. Zacks muscles tensing on the swords handle, as he waits for the others near him to wake up... If.. whatever it is ends up engaging non-hostilely, zack will still keep his sword ready just in case, but would be open to talking with it.. quietly.

Readied Action - Buster Sword - Condition: Agression/Attack - - - Attack: 20 Damage: 12

The dark gray feathered Kenku would open his arms with his long feather-like fingers outstretched as if offering a hug. "Hiya!" The kenku would proclaim with the stolen voice of a child before letting out an unsettling laugh. "The name's Shiv" He would say with a small nod as the reflection of the campfire flickered across his shiny beak. After pauseing for a moment... as if the kenku was trying to piece together his thoughts before opening his mouth, "Did I scare you?" He would ask with a smile and wink.

(OOC hello, I am excited to be playing with you all.)

Chad is fast asleep through all this. He has a purple sleeping mask over his eyes and a matching travel size blanket. 

(Been a busy week guys. Sorry for the lack of collaboration.)

Zack

Zack almost swings at the kenku as it opened it's arms, half expecting some sort of attack until it spoke, the voice was unnerving... Then as it continued speaking, and didn't immediately seem hostile, zack would harshly 'shhhhhh' at the birdman If you're not here to attack us then be quiet! There are Goblins in the area, and they're not the friendly type... How the hell did you find us here anyway? Were you followed? And why are you even here? Zack wasn't trying to sound harsh.. but if this guy could find the group so easily, that means the goblins could as well, and approaching strangers stealthily without some sort of warning ahead of time usually meant an ambush.

Gribz

Gribz will watch Zack's interaction with the Kenku from his spot on the right-side cliff. When the Kenku raised it's arms, Gribz instinctively squeezed the trigger on his crossbow, but held back at the last instant. The the bolt was a hair's breadth from firing and skewering the small bird creature. Gribz will continue to track the Kenku with his crossbow until he knows it's not hostile.

Shiv

(OOC: perception to see if I notice Gribz and others at the campsite.27)

Shiv's eyes would scan around the campsite, his head quickly twitching and turning to as he survayed the area for threats and information. A moment later the kenku would open his beak and the voice of a sharp younger woman would fill the air, explaining his task to recover a shipment of goods.

Gribz’s Finger is on the trigger but he stopped himself from firing. 

Zack

Zack can barely make out a shadow within the shadows of this Kenku, but Zacks eyes clearly narrowed as the bird had only answered one of his questions... and his appearance right now at this place couldn't just be brushed off as mere coincidence.. and the bird seemed to be hiding something as far as Zack could tell.

Last chance to answer my questions before I assume you're not here for friendly banter.....

(Why aren't Lillith and Nadia waking up? Did he cast some spell to keep them asleep?) thoughts were racing through Zack's mind, this delivery was turning out to be much more than just that.

Zack once again hefts his sword, ready to strike with his (previously) held attack should the bird not fully explain himself. 

(OOC - I believe my held attack was Hit: 20, Damage 12)

Lilith

Lilith has been staying quiet as Zack and Gribz dealt with the situation. She eyes the Kenku but doesn't seem to be suspicious of it. Rather, she seems curious, moving around to get a better glimpse of them.

Zack continues to hold his action. Waiting for the Kenku to speak as Nadia and Lilith get themselves up. Gribz continues to train his crossbow on Shiv from the cliff opposite while Chad sleeps.

Nadia roused from her sleep at the sound of a female voice (that wasn't Lilith's or her own), her mind stirring as she sat up from her bed roll, taking  look around to allow her eyes to adjust to her surroundings. Her eyes tried focusing on the small figure that seemed to have Zack and Gribz at attention. (I was having a nice dream too-- Is that a chicken?) The elves hand gently pat at the ground beside her, trying to locate one of her weapons before fully standing up and heading over quietly to see what was going on. (Handaxe it is...)

Stealth: 8

She attempted to be stealthy anyways, but being woken up in the middle of a nice rest would do that to you.

Shiv

Realizing just repeating the words of the lady who sent him wasnt going to be enough, The Kenku smiles once more runs the bottom of his beak with his dark charcoal colored fingers. "Linene Graywind, Ask me to find things that she lost..." He would say with a kaw as his head tilts and his eyes seem to lock on the nearby goblin. "She said goblins.. took it..." His eyes would narrow upon the goblin that was pointing a crossbow in his direction. "I mean you no harm, Just doing my job" The kenku would say with a wink. "I was hoping my...(snarls and growls) would scare ya off so I could check your campsite for the stolen goods.. but this works too"

(Ooc posting from phone. Unfortunately, I just read back to the circus event, and we were never told about a Lenene... so unfortunately....)

Zack

Zack had no idea who this Lenene Graywind was... He also had no clue how this person would not only know about the goblins here had taken her things, but where the goblin cave was, how their camp had been found so easily... on top of it all ot sounded like....

"So.. roughly.. some woman we've never met or heard of, somehow has knowledge of all of this before even a full day has passed since it all started.. tou tried to scare us off hoping to get a look at our camp while we were away... everything about this is suspocious.. and you? You sound like a hired thief or assassin to me... hoping to steal our stuff and whatever else you could find... Sorry man, but I gotta protect my friends..." 

At the exact moment he says the final line.. zack unleashes his readied attack.

Action: readied attack

(OOC: Zack, was this lethal or non lethal?) 

(Ooc - Zack assumes this guy is a thief, an assassin, or an opportunist trying to take advantage of his group, and back in his patrolling days this would be dealt with via lethal force. Since this guy could be working with anyone, and his party is weak, he's not gonna take risks)
