Eldon had shut his eyes reciting a prayer that he had learned in his earlier days in the temple as he tried to recall - a smirk crossed his face as he looked at his friends "Thankfully, Pelor sought to ensure my understanding was strong of these creatures. The bite is only dangerous if it kills the victim and then it is buried in the dirt, should this happen a vampire spawn will be created under the control of the creature that bit it. This spawn however, is still not yet a full vampire. A true vampire can only be made after it has drank from it's master veins." He just looked at his party and took a quick sip of water from his waterskin before continuing with the rest of his knowledge "We should tread carefully if one seeks entrance, the creatures cannot enter a home unless it is invited by one of the individuals who lives there. However, should we find ourselves in a predicament such as now with no homes around we should seek running water for shelter form the creatures for it is like acid to them. Unfortunately though one can only be destroyed in the following way - a wooden piecing weapon, such as wood stake, driven into the heart of the creature while it resides in its resting place incapacitated. I'm afraid though for now that is all I can recall."

Cinna will notice that with the wooded area covering the road, there's quite an abundance of sticks at her disposal. Gathering the sticks and sharpening them will take several minutes.
OOC: Cinna will need to spend 9 + 10 minutes to gather and sharpen sticks.
As they have been walking along discussing Vampires, Kestrell notices Cinna gathering sticks. "Good idea Cinna! Perhaps we should take a short rest for an hour or so here, eat a little and those of us so inclined can sharpen some suitable candidates for Vampire sticks! What do you all think?"

"Unless we can find a place that offers some type of protection from the elements and some cover from anything in the woods, we should keep moving." It wasn't that Eldon wasn't tired, it was clear the night was starting to get to him as he yawned. He began to look around for anymore threats to the party or a place that had four walls that might offer them some protection (Perception: 17 ). "We shouldn't stay outside if Strahd truly can manipulate this domain."
Eldon's yawn was infectious, and Kestrell yawned too. It was, indeed a long night. And the fight with the zombie twins had left him worse for wear. "Do you think there is danger if we are in the daylight like this?"
As the party walks along the muddy road, Eldon notices a sign on the side of the road that reads "Village of Barovia - 3 Miles". Of course, the sign is barely standing as it appears to have been broken, with blood splattered all over it. They're constantly howling noises emitting from the woods surrounding them, as well as a cold chill in the air brushing against them. They feel as if camping here would be too dangerous.
Just as Kestrell finishes saying this, they hear a loud howling noise, louder than usual come out of the woods around them. A shiver, and not from the cold, goes down Kestrell's spine. "Let's carry on then."
OOC: I don't know, I've been wondering how the different artisan's tools work myself. For woodcarving, it might be your dexterity modifier, plus your proficiency bonus since you are proficient with woodcarving tools.

"Indeed Kestrell, if we wish to uncover just what exactly is going on we must all work together"

OOC: Do I have the sticks and just haven't take the time to sharpen them, or would going with everyone now mean not having sticks?
KestrelEliot on Twitter
OOC: Yeah, I think you just picked up some, and haven't sharpened them yet.
OOC: With proficiency in woodcarving and a set of tools, could I work on it while we walked?

OOC: makes sense to me, but it is up to the DM. Make a woodcarving skill check in case he says yes.
OOC: What would that fall under? I'd add my +2 proficiency bonus... anything else?
