"Thank you! I can make some fine use out of this! What sort of Rapier do you think this is? Yes, the initials are strange, we must find out more about them."
"How far down does it go, Kay?"'Kestrell asks from the back, holding the lantern high.'

[OOC]Rapier Investigation: 8
'The rapier's thin blade *swishes* through the air cleanly, expelling the last of the dead spider matter from its surface. The masterful craftsmanship of the delicate, yet surprisingly strong, weapon is readily apparent as Kestrell handles it, and the bard easily spots the now familiar initials when Kay points them out.'
[OOC] As Kestrell will discover the first time he uses the weapon in battle, the blade's masterwork construction will give the wielder +1 to attack rolls using the weapon in combat. Having the weapon in his keeping and taking into account his passive investigation with the observant feat, Kestrell estimates that the blade is likely worth around 150gp were he to sell it.

'Kay frowns,' "Far enough that I don't think we'll be able to proceed in this direction. Guess we'll have to keep searching." 'She turns around and heads back to the chamber with the ice pillar, tapping her index finger against her chin the whole way.'
"I wonder if the tome is part of the source of all this madness, or if it's the place itself as Naskeen said. Perhaps some combination of the two? I confess I don't know a thing with regards to magic, but perhaps if we follow the icy, silvered webs we'll have more luck..."
'As they walk:' "Alright. I suppose it could be part of the source, I guess it depends on what the book is about."
'Once they return to the chamber, Kestrell investigates the webbing at 2,5, looking to see if there is a passage behind it, or if anything is trapped inside of it.'
A'ro just followed the group and when Kay suggested following the webbing he just sighed"If it's the only option - magic is a tricky thing especially when its just natural magic. Lead the way Kay."

'Once they return to the chamber, Kestrell investigates the webbing at 2,5, looking to see if there is a passage behind it, or if anything is trapped inside of it.'
'Walking Eastwards back up the rocky slope to the larger, and much colder, lair of the slain spiderfey, Kestrell turns to the right to examine the webbing in this chamber's Southwestern corner. After careful examination, it is apparent that the webs do not to stretch back any further than five or ten feet, and seem to hold only the completely bare and inanimate skelatal remains of some long dead huminoid creature. Again you hear the *rattle* of the skeleton trapped in the cavern's Southeastern corner, though you hear nothing at all from the web shrouded area in the cavern's Northeast.
Virt calls down from the top of the ledge, a distinct note of worry in the ships mage's voice,'
"Are ye a'right down there, friends? I was worried for a moment when I lost sight of ye and could hear naught but that blasted rattling sound which sets me skin to shiverin'!"
[OOC] To the Northwest is the steep, icy 25' slope which leads up to the ledge that Virt stands on. To the Southwest is the long cavern that you just emerged from which is cut-off by the chasm covered webs.
As you now know where they are and you're not in combat, I have not included the slippery areas of ice around each of the crystals. If you enter combat, they may again become a consideration.
[OOG] Maps and proper formating will now resume. Thanks for your patience all.

A'ro just looks around and then hears the rattling of the bones 'I'm gonna hate this" - he walks over to the bones and begins to inspect the webbing and bones.
"So am I - let's at least fix one horrible thing in here."
He reaches out careful no to touch any of the webbing, placing his hand on the skull of the skeletonWith his words, he begins to utter a phrase in primordial as lightning surges down his arm and into the skeletons skull.

He reaches out careful no to touch any of the webbing, placing his hand on the skull of the skeletonWith his words, he begins to utter a phrase in primordial as lightning surges down his arm and into the skeletons skull.
'As A'ro reaches through the webbing to place his hand upon the restrained skeleton's bandana covered skull, the short white haired genasi senses the fell nature of this abomination, as if the soulless pits where its eyes should be were sending a hateful gaze his way. As the master of sail's eyes go from purple to white, and his pale hair lifts ever so slightly, an arc of blue and purple energy courses through his hand and into the undead creature before him with instantaneous effect. Bits of bone *CRACK* and split under the magical onslaught as the fleshless monster convulses, splintering slivers of silver webbing even as other strands melt away from the intense heat of the arcane attack.
Now mostly free of its woven shackles, the still animated creature lunges forward to bring its bony maw towards A'ro's face and neck, attempting to bite its attacker after being inadvertantly freed from its captivity. It's dry, breathless jaws clamp down on the genasi's crimsonblue flesh with agonising pain, even as A'ro's companions realise his peril.'

Orlys reaches the skeleton, and growling fiercely, punches it with his heavy maul.
Action: attack the skeleton! 22 to hit, for 4 bludgeoning damage
OOC > These rolls are so funny I could cry...
'Charging ahead directly towards the preoccupied genasi's back with the fierce growl building on his lips, Orlys steps suddenly at the last second to the smaller, violet eyed man's left side as the muscled bugbear brings the heavy head of his maul around at shoulder height in a powerful two-handed blow to the right that smashes the skeleton's skull (bandana and all) into flying pieces of yellowed bone and scraps of yellow cloth. The suddenly headless body simply collapses to the ground at your feet in a brief shower of inanimate bone, faded yellow fabric and dried old leather, though not before an enthusiastic Kestrell manages to run the mostly empty leather jerkin through with his new rapier.'
[OOC] Orlyshits the skeleton for 8 bludgeoning damage. The skeleton is destroyed and we are out of combat and initiative order.
A'ro, Orlys and Vaken can make perception checks and read the below spoiler with a score of 15 or more. Kestrell may read the spoiler without making the check:
'As the decapitated skeleton collapses into now inert pieces, you hear a surprisingly solid *thump* amidst the clatter of falling bones and tattered leather.'

'Bending down to rummage through the skeletal remains, Kestrell finds nothing as he tosses the loose bones aside... until he notices a slight bulge from within the mostly flattened leather jerkin. Easily slicing through the straps and ties binding the two halves of the armoured vest together, the curious bard folds back a flap to reveal the smashed ribcage of the defeated undead monster... and within the rib cage, bundled up in heavy grey wool, is a tarnished brown leather book bound with a rusty iron lock and clasps.'

Nice job with that skeleton, Bugbear! Once we figure out what this poor critter used to be, what do you think about going back down to the crevasse and trying to climb over it on the side wall with ropes and the like?"
