What I usually do is give a +1 bonus for each character flanking. So if just you and one other that's a +1 but if there is someone else on the other side that makes it a +2. But I think that in the 5th edition advantage is better. Keeps keeping up with the positioning of the character more fluid.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Looks like piercing weapons aren't very effective on this thing guys", Hoyle says and then shrugs because he doesn't have any other type of weapon. He will try to get in a position that gives him a good look at his target and fire again.
Joshua and Hoyle both attack the undead dragon. A piercing scream makes the bones chip and flake. Hoyle's arrow flies true and seems to just appear in the creatures red eye.
The dragon shudders. It stumbles, and bones begin to clatters to the floor, then the creature bursts into dust as the magic leaves it.
The while feathered kenku would look around... still shaking from the terrifying encounter. "Good Job!" He would mimic in the voice of a happy child before slowly dusting himself off and looking around to the others. "You hurt?" He would chirp, moving from friend to friend, looking to see if anyone needed any healing.
There are many books, burnt or deteriorated beyond use lining the rotting shelves. In the center of the room is a large stone desk with a large pool of dark dried yp blood covering the right side. The bones of a humanoid lies at the foot of the desk on the same side.
(You can make checks depending on what you are looking for.)
Tait, the body is human but seems to have evolved into something with draconian features. The beginning of leathery wings can be seen in the bones and horns have sprouted on his forehead. There are runes carved on the rotting gloves and the robes he wore. They are in Draconic
For those of you who can read it:
The runes are, runes of power, much like the ones you saw as you entered the area. They are protection wards.
Joshua you try to look through the books but you can see that you are not the first to have done so. Along the shelves and the books are holes you can only attribute to books being taken out. You feel pretty sure that nothing of interest lies among the books. They crumble to your touch and most are unreadable. From what you can gather it is a library of dragon lore.
Tait will say to the others, "This fellow has draconic runes of protection on his gloves and robes. Not sure of they helped him any. He looks looks like he was a human, but starting to become like a dragon."

There was a stealth before I used healing word so I will roll another one to replace if needed, 15
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
Great. You slide unseen between the fighters and the creature.
((Do you have a flanking house rule?))
Assuming no flanking rules, Hoyle will line up another shot and fire at what he thinks looks like it's most vulnerable area (chest cavity perhaps):
Longbow: Attack: 16 Damage: 5
If advantage because of flanking, extra attack roll: 19

The arrow once more hits the creature but only leaves a dent in the bones. Easily shrugged off.
Joshua will viciously mock the creature. DC13 wis save or 1 damage and disadvantage on next attack

Silence comes back to the room.
(did anyone take the benefit of the healing word that I cast in the fight? Did anyone fail the save?)

(OOC: I did not use the healing word)
(Did you do a dex save for the breath? I didn't see one and if you didn't you might need the healing)

No one failed I think. And no one got really hurt.
(I did not take the benefit of the healing word. I think you have to target it to one person. I made the save and took just a few points of damage.)
"I am alright," Tait answers. "That was very strange!"
Tait will begin looking around to see if there is anymore danger in the immediate vicinity.
The room is part treasure part rubbish.

Hoyle will search the dragon skeleton and the room, closely looking out for anything that looks booby-trapped.
Perception: 10
In case you wanted this,
Investigation: 18
(I know I have to target, but as not everyone had rolled a save I didn't want to heal someone who didn't need it if someone did)
Joshua is going to look through the books. Investigation: 10

Tait will investigate the humanoid body.
Investigation 2
or Perception if needed 3
