Passing the alleyway on his way home from carousing in the Dock district, Reynard Ferrand hears a commotion coming from a nearby warehouse. Seeing flickering torchlight and hearing strange noises, the ever curious fop decides to investigate. Slipping into the shadows, his black leathers become one with the night and his soft boots make little sound as he approaches.
Reynard moves into the offices, and upon hearing the sounds of impending combat ahead, he tries to slip into the main warehouse unnoticed, so that he can see what is happening.
Stealth to move in unnoticed if possible: 16 Perception to see what's going on (and maybe spot unseen enemies): 6 Initiative in the coming fight: 16
The Kenku’s arrow deflects effortlessly off of Dwaye’s shield, he then lifts up his Warhammer (One handed) and swings at the Kenku that shot him. Attack: 16 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Soar is starting to get frustrated that this is not the game of hide and seek she was expecting. She glances down at the arrow as it richochets off her armor, realizing it could have hurt her badly, but didn't touch her.
If she can make her way down the rest of the stairs to the warehouse floor and draw her warhammer, she'll do that, smiling the whole way. "Wanna play? Come on, it'll be fun! Did you kill all these people? Wow. I don't think it was their time yet. That sort of thing makes my god angry. Sure Kelemvor is the god of death. But as He always says, 'there's a time to die and a not-time to die.' At least, I think that's how it goes. I was never very good at scripture. Anyhow, maybe it's your time to not-not-die? I'm going to hit you now to let you know I'm serious but then you should really give up and we can talk."
(For those new to the campaign, she talks very relaxed and optimistic, like Korg from Thor Ragnarok.) She'll stop next to one kenku, directly opposite one of her companions (Amu, getting hit by a short sword?), to flank the kenku. She isn't worried if this puts her in the middle of the group of foes. Warhammer attack!
Kruk hits the Kenku that shot at him with an arrow, which lands in a vital place; "Aaaugh; they got me, the dirty birds!" it crows as it reels over onto the floor.
Dwaye and Soar each take a hammer down on a separate Kenku, hitting hard, but not taking them down.
[Characters in Combat and Awaiting: Ame, Deryus, Erik, Reynard, Vanvalor]
Erik takes down the wounded Kenku that went after Soar! "Wait, you don't have to do this!" he caws in mimicry of a scared elf before he falls to the floor.
[Characters in Combat and Awaiting: Ame, Deryus, Reynard, Vanvalor]
[Wait, what? How did Erik’s attack of 15 hit, while Dwaye’s attack of 16 didn't hit? The re-roll was for the damage of the attack, not the roll to hit the Kenku]
[Dwaye's attack did hit and do significant damage, just didn't kill the Kenku. Sorry, I realize that what I wrote might have suggested otherwise.]
[Dreyus, we do do critical hits! I'll go ahead and roll your extra damage: 3 + 5]
Drayus, with skill honed though years of martial arts practice, slices up the last uninjured Kenku pretty bad, with blade swipes filled with poise and precision; he is much less successful with a follow-up kick, stumbling a bit, but that shouldn't detract from his masterful feat of swordplay.
[Characters in Combat and Awaiting: Ame, Reynard, Vanvalor]
The Kenku just barely dodges the shadow shard. You can tell at this point that they have realized the balance of battle is not on their side, as they glance at the main warehouse door looking for an escape route, but they are not quite fleeing yet.
((OOC not sure if I can do this. Zero issues if I can’t))
Reynard slinks stealthily towards the main exit, sensing the bird creatures are about to flee. He tries to position himself where he can step out and intercept any who try running.
(If feasible, readying an attack on a fleeing Kenku. I have Mobile feat so movement is 40’. i.e. I am fast. )

First, the Kenku that Ame attempted to hit counter-attacks with its short sword! (Attack: 12 Damage: 6)
Next, one Kenku attempts to snipe Kruk, who is partially covered: (Attack: 10 Damage: 4)
A Kenku, noticing Soar with javelin raised, fires an arrow at her: (Attack: 12 Damage: 9)
And the final Kenku takes aim at Dwaye: (Attack: 16 Damage: 9)
[If you are hit, report that and take damage. All active characters can now move before the Kenku get another round.]
Kruk will move out of cover slightly to take aim at the one that had attempted to shoot him. Once the arrow flies he will duck back into cover.
