Soar looks at Dwaye with a half-smile, "yes, like I was saying before," turning back to the new genasi. "Are you okay? What are you doing here? Looks like you were having a fight with the duergar and the human before being interrupted by the blob? What's your story?"
As she's talking, she's looking around the room for anything interesting, with a rueful glance at her dissolving javelin. Perception 16
[The goblin had a pouch with 4 silver. The wizard had not a component pouch but an arcane focus.]
Soar discovers in the cesspit the dissolving remains of a goblin; it would seem that it was attacked by the ooze while relieving itself. A bad way to go.
Three silver is almost a dagger. Guess I will have to save up.
”Listen, we’re going to head topside once we finish here Ignis. Do you want to join us for now? We can talk and walk...” Alton glances at the exits to the room. “We weren’t exactly quiet.”

The party finds Floon and Renaer have not gone far; they meet up and decide it's high time they returned to the surface, and return the missing Floon to Volo. They conscientiously remember to untie the goblin (still knocked out cold) before leaving so he doesn't starve tied up if nobody comes for him.
The party makes their way back to the halfling Mr. Peobody's cellar, then after a brief chat with the man (in which he politely recommended a nearby bathhouse to the sewer-delvers) they exit his house back into the Dock Ward.
Where to? You could return to the Yawning Portal now, or check to see if the Kenku you left tied up in the Zhentarim hideout are still there. (Or something else completely.)
"I'll just dart back around the corner to the Zhent hideout to make sure the city watch heard my 'report' and they have the kenku in custody. Be RIGHT back!" Soar waits for a couple nods from her companions before darting off. (I assume the halfling's house is fairly close to the Zhent hideout because we went right down into the sewers from there?)
”These scumballs were Xanathar members, making them responsible for my torture. I burned them a bit to return the favor, but they couldn’t handle the heat and fell asleep.” Ignis cheerfully states as they walk.
When Soar investigates the Zhentarim hideout she finds that it is indeed cordoned off by the city watch, with the kenku in custody and bodies being transferred out of the hideout into wagons to take to the morgue. (In fact it was not her report that called them, the hideout had been under surveillance for quite some time, but Soar doesn't know this.) She is stopped by a serious looking man when she approaches. "Sorry, citizen; this area is under investigation right now, please keep a distance while we work."
Alton decides that the bathhouse is a good idea and the first order of business. He tells the other party members that he will meet them back at the yawning portal to meet again with Volo. “Anyone wishing to come along is welcome,” he says.
From the bathhouse he will proceed North to castle ward on foot, ducking and dodging the crowds as well as any horses along the way. He looks for the famous sign. Exciting to be out adventuring! From the House of Wonder to the College of New Olamn, and now the very sewers of my city. What a strange and wonderful day!
Nearly at the yawning portal and looking upward, Alton could swear there was a cloud in the shape of a mind-flayer. He hurried inside cleaner, but none-the-wiser of what was really going on here.

Soar runs back to the group and fills them in on the watch's activity. "I'm just so glad that justice is being served, aren't you? It just goes to show, if you see something, particularly a gruesome murder scene, say something!"
She then begins to try to cheer up Floon, asking him how he got his unique name, and asks Renaer how they met, and how they know Volo, and if they've heard of her chapterhouse of Kelemvor, and what they think of the god of death, who's really not so bad as some people make them out to be....
“I am interested in your faith Soar. I admit I do not know much about Kelemvor. How did you come to join this order?”
The halfling pulls an amulet from beneath his shirt, an amulet that is a holy symbol of Mystra. “I stay at the temple” he says. “I can certainly respect strength of faith. And I love a good story!”
(Lets see, it was evening when you entered the sewers, so lets say it is morning now? You're starting to get a bit tired from delving all night.)
The party gathers at the Yawning Portal; it is early morning and the bar is closed, but as it is also an inn it is open breakfast now for guests. Volo is seated alone at a table with quippers and chips on a plate before him; he just glances at the party as they enter the main door, not recognizing most of you, but when he notices Floon and Renaer he immediately leaves the table and rushes to embrace them. "Floon, you are alive! And Renaer with him! You must tell me, dear Floon, where were you these past days? I was so worried for you I hired a group of adventurers to go looking for you!"
He pauses, seeing the rest of the party. "I can't say I recognize most of your companions though... They are with you, aren't they? Regardless, let us go grab a larger table and we can talk at length, I am dying to hear your stories!"
(Sure thing Xunsilver, have a good holiday I hope!)
Volo gives Dwaye a rather sheepish look when he is asked about a reward. "I confess that I have but few coins to spare... But never let it be said that Volo reneges on a promise! Allow me to present something much more valuable." He holds out a scroll tube. "The deed to a remarkable property here in Waterdeep! We'll need a magistrate to witness the transfer of ownership. I'll arrange a meeting with one after you've inspected the estate and deemed it satisfactory."
(With that, you have completed Chapter 1 of Dragon Heist: "A Friend in Need"! You may now level up to level 2.)
Soar says, "Mr. Geddarm! I'm Soar! I was already seated at the table you sat down at after the brawl with the troll last night, and accepted your quest to save Mr. Floon here. You don't recognize me? I suppose I still have some sewer on me, but I am still the same paladin. The rest of the party who was with me... well, some of them decided the quest wasn't for them, and some flaked out, and others just disappeared. No one, as far as I saw, died, but it is just me from the original group who's returned to you. I still have the 10gp you gave me."
She tells him everything about the night, from leaving the Yawning Portal, Xoblob's shop, the bar, the hideout, the kenku, the second hideout... everything.
"YOu did promise us ten times the 10gp you gave us last night. Can you tell us more about this property? I'm in fairly good standing and could sign but, well, I'd love to hear about the place!"
"Ah yes, well, about the property..." Volo blushes. "In truth there is a reason I acquired this valuable property for much less than the building is worth, and you should know about it."
He takes a breath.
"The property is a historic building in the North Ward, once a manor and now a closed down tavern. I would be remiss if I did not tell you that it is rumored to be, well, haunted. I bought the deed in hopes of writing a chapter of my new book, Volo's Guide to Spirits and Specters, after investigating."
He is a little worried that you might reject his reward now that he has opened up about it.
"Still, a remarkable property! You should visit it before turning it down, at least."
”Haunted? That still sounds pretty nice, I'd like to check it out before getting it, but I’m going to need a shower and some sleep before I head over. So how about we meet here at noon tomorrow and you can show us the manor, then we can decide if we want it or if we just want some gold, personally, the manor sounds better, but maybe I'll be wrong.”
Soar looks at Dwaye with a half-smile, "yes, like I was saying before," turning back to the new genasi. "Are you okay? What are you doing here? Looks like you were having a fight with the duergar and the human before being interrupted by the blob? What's your story?"
