The group advances gingerly and quietly further into the bending tunnel. You come close to an opening and everyone holds their breat as Cormac unintentionally bumps his warhammer against the wall. After a few uneventful moments and face palms, the group comes closer to the opening. You press yourselves tight against the wall and see a group of goblins up ahead.
The air is hazy with the smoke of a cooking fire, and pungent from the smell of poorly cured hides and unwashed goblins. Three goblins are tending to the fire and two more are intently watching something occurring on the south side of the cavern (you are coming from the east; from where you are, you can only see half of the cavern).
Those of you who know Goblin, understand the following, coming from an unseen goblin to the south of the fire:
"Ha! You are not as brave now, are you soft-skin? How you like'em, goblin knuckles eh?"
"Yeemik will let you die. And your boss will eventually meet you. But not yet! Yeemik will have a lot more fun with you, stupid man!"
Also, to your immediate left, you see a steep escarment, choked with rubble. Some 20 feet below, you see the stream. Avier recognizes this passage, as he previously fell when trying to traverse it.
Sylric strides confidently into the cavern as he prestidigitates a spray of sparks in front of him and a gust of wind to follow. He motions for his comrades to follow. In goblin he announces to all present, "Greetings great Yeemik! Your prestige amongst your comrades and subordinantes alike has revealed itself to my party. You have been exalted as a reasonable and honest sort. You have the popular will of your clan and could easily ascend...with some assistance. This soft skin you hold is of interest to us as is the dwarf that has been removed from this location. We have no interest in internal squabbles, but are simply interested in the well-being of this soft skin and the rock biter. We would gladly assist in turning your clan leadership inside out for the release of this one and information on the Castle Cragmaw where the dwarf is being held. Then, point us in the right direction and we are your foe's worst nightmare."
Out of character, maybe...but certainly a direct means to an end. Sylric pulls his pipe from his sleeve, prestidigitates flame and slowly draws it back to life.
(Ooc let me know what rolls will be required here.)

(Ooc let me know what rolls will be required here.)
Please roll performance for the prestidigitation bit.
Then roll persuasion with advantage if the previous check is higher than 10.
(Right on, my tablet does that too, but not my phone. Im so used to just typing out the rolls i forget to automate them even when I am on it. Haha! Either way it is a hoot!)
As Sylric walks into the light, he sees that this large cave is divided in half by a ten-foot-high escarpment. A steep natural staircase leads from the lower portion to the upper legde, where a securely bound human is held.
The man is severely wounded, can barely open his eyes or speak. A goblin, slightly taller than the rest, in front of him, grabs him from his ragged shirt.
All the goblins in the cave are taken aback by the sudden rain of sparks and the gust of wind that makes the fire flicker intensely. Before any of them can even react, the elf starts talking. The dumbfounded creatures close to the fire and bedrolls listen, exchange looks, and turn their heads towards the goblin on the upper ledge, as if they were waiting for him to give them directions.
As Sylric finishes his message, the goblin, who was paying attention to the elf, releases its grip from the shirt and exclaims in Goblin, in a high-pitched voice:
To Sylric:
"How did you manage to come here unnoticed?! And why should Yeemik care about your interests?!!
You say "we" but Yeemik only sees you!"
To one of the goblins who was readying its shortbow:
"Stand down you idiot; this dumb pointy ears may help us with Klarg!!!"
Sylric in goblin, "How did we enter unnoticed? Skills, sir, skills. I am but one member of a highly skilled group of adventurers. Your comrades attempted to make us their prey, but were easily thwarted by myself and my compatriots; it was from them that we first heard of you. They quickly divulged their frustration with Klarg and expressed a great preference for you to be their leader. Every one of your clan we have come across has expressed the same sentiment.
As for my comrades, rest assured that while you cannot see them, they and their weapons can see you.
Our final goals are of no consequence to you as yours are of none to us, and yet fate has brought us together...our goals have overlapped so to speak...and we can assist you toward yours if you will help us toward ours. We need this soft skin and the dwarf alive and we are willing to help you with your Klarg problem in a quid pro quo."

Flint points to the goblins and shrugs. If he receives any sign of aggression from the others he goes in and attacks

Cormac will duck back away from Sylric as he does this, motioning for the others to get ready for a fight.
Please roll performance for the prestidigitation bit.

"Answer Yeemik!"
Sylric in goblin, "How did we enter unnoticed? Skills, sir, skills. I am but one member of a highly skilled group of adventurers. Cormac waits to fight, listening in on what is being said thanks to being able to speak goblin since they were a common enemy of his people.
(Haha I wonder how quid pro quo would be translated in Goblin)
Yeemik listens intently and grins maliciously when you say that others have expressed their preference for him.
When you are done he yells in Common:
"Come out! Yeemik wants to meet you". You can see him now stannding differently, with confidence, as if what you said boosted his ego.
He continues in Common:
"Rock biter not in Yeemik power. Cragmaw Castle deeper into woods, but Yeemik knows not the exact location."
Before Yeemik can continue, mustering all his remaining strength, the human interjects:
"Don't... trust..." but Yeemik quickly knocks him unconscious, with a fist to his temple.
"Shut up you pesky bug" says Yeemik, and then addressing Sylric again:
"We can strike deal. You bring Klarg's stupid head to Yeemik, and Yeemik give you stupid human. But I want to see group first."
Cormac has to stop himself from yelling at Sylric to not trust the goblins but keeps his mouth shut.
