Taman also watches the map as it is marked. He then slips the map back into his pack. "Even if these other guides are a bit less than dependable, it would likely be good to have someone who knows the area with us." He comments as they leave the dwarf. "I say we at least speak with them, and see if they are interested."
As the rest of the group leaves. Fujin has one last word with hew. "Sorry fer gettin' all up in y'face like that, I'll be givin' whatever twisted beast that's livin' in there a swing of my hammer for yer pal's, eh?"

As you are leaving the Beggars' Palaces and head towards Executioner's Run you hear the sounds of people talking loudly and very excitedly as if getting ready for something big. You approach Executioner's Run and notice that the people are starting to crowd around it. You look towards "The Run", as you hear the locals call it, and notice that the road through the Old City splits around a rectangular, stone-lined pit 15 feet dep, 50 feet wide, and 200 feet long.
You watch as some of the people around the edge are pointing into the pit, and others are pointing to a spot on the other end of the pit. As you look in the pit you see that there is some movement in the pit, and taking a closer look, you notice that the movement is coming from... dinosaurs!!! On the other end of "The Run" are some of the city guards leading people tied together around the waist, hands tied behind their backs. As you look around you also notice that amongst the group are people walking and stopping occasionally, when they stop, you can see that they are marking something down on a piece of parchment and then money is handed to them.
As you watch the scene before you Rivon, Taman, and Three see one of the tied up people in the middle of the group looks like one of the people you are going to meet: A Tabaxi who is 5' 8" (1.7 meters) tall, and weighing about 140 pounds (63.5 kg) with grey fur and black stripes, who has somehow managed to get their hands free from the ropes and is waving at the people. You recognize this individual from the descriptions given to you by the group of guides you were just speaking with... Flask of Wine.
(OOC - Please tell me if you are going closer to "The Run" or standing back bit. You may do this as a group or individually.)

"Oh heeyy~ That's the guy! Well, one of'em at least!" Three declared cheerily. "I wonder why... wait..." She looks back and forth between the gaggle of prisoners and the pit, and upon putting 2 and 2 together, "Oh... oh that's not goood. That's good at all -- Uh! H-hold on! Ja Momento!" She called out while picking up the pace to get closer to the run. If it hadn't looked as if she could get close enough to the guards, either due to the crowd or both prisoners/guards being on the opposite side from them, she'd settle on getting close to the marking things down, hoping to ask, "Uh! Excuse me! But what's going on? We kinda need that feline guy over there, so any chance this can wait?"
Fujin notices Three breaking off from the group and follows closely behind her, keeping one hand on his coin purse and another on his warhammer.
(OOC- Fujin is going to attempt the Help Action for anything Three tries to do, be it sit there and look tough for intimidation, or make myself look like the "Bad Cop" option that they'll have to go through if they don't help her out for persuasion, or any other thing she might need help with.)

Taman sighs and stays put. He is not going to put himself between the guard and what looks to be a prisoner, not until he sees more of what is going on.
Rivon darts between the legs of the larger folks and makes his way to the edge of the pit. He attempts to catch Flask of Wine's eye by making seemingly meaningless arm and hand gestures. In fact, he's using Thieves' Cant to convey the simple message of "need to talk" to FoW.
(No idea if he'll understand this, but it's worth a shot.)
Thieves’ Cant
During your rogue training you learned thieves’ cant, a secret mix of dialect, jargon, and code that allows you to hide messages in seemingly normal conversation. Only another creature that knows thieves’ cant understands such messages. It takes four times longer to convey such a message than it does to speak the same idea plainly.
In addition, you understand a set of secret signs and symbols used to convey short, simple messages, such as whether an area is dangerous or the territory of a thieves’ guild, whether loot is nearby, or whether the people in an area are easy marks or will provide a safe house for thieves on the run.
Three would not be able to get close enough to the Guards/Prisoners from where she was standing. She walks up to one of the men scratching down information and taking money. The man answers Three's questions "Ummmm, it's The Run. If you need that guy over there, you'd better hope he survives... this time." The man looks over to Fujin as he has his hand on his coin purse. "Care to place a wager?"
Flask of Wine catches Rivon's stare and sees Rivon's hand movements. He makes a few gestures back to Rivon.

But is there like, no way this whole thing can be put off? Or at least, I dunno, any chance he can be let go without having to do it?" She asked. "Or did he like volunteer for this?"

The man looks at Three again and says, "Well, it can't be put off, this is what happens to criminals, and he can't be let go as he has to pay for his crimes. As for if he volunteered for this? Maybe he got caught because he wanted to do The Run again." He then holds his hand out, in case a wager is coming.

Taman frowns at the wagering, but knows it would be a waste of his time to explain that wagering was a bad use of money, so he remains quiet. Instead he scans the crowd for the other member of the two guides they were suppose to be looking for.
Hearing the word "wager", Rivon moves to the man and asks, "What are the odds on the tabaxi?"
After hearing those odds, he lays 20gp on the FoW.
The man's eyes light up with the possibility of a taker for the wager. He then says to Rivon, "Well, that depends on who you're wagering on. That fella that your friend was inquiring about has got 2:1 odds. But you see that scrawny little guy there in the front? The one what looks like he's gonna trip over his tunic? 30:1 on that one!"

Three deflated a little at the news, but in seeing noone else nearly as upset or worried, the chimera further backed off and stood by to watch the run. Or at least, watch as much of as she could from the crowd. Once Rivon was done placing bets, she'd again offer her services and height as a viewing platform for the halfling. She might've done the same for Fujin, had he not been quicker to shuffle off for a better spot!
