„It is cerrainly not the eay i would prefer it“. But what would you do with them? We cant keep them around us for ever. The moment we let loose, they are a threat . We have to get them on our side or, you know,“ ferdinand stops for a moment and sighs „honor“
Dihek'nir, walking back to the crew, says, "Lets see what they do. We can block the exit as well and let them decide for themselves. I hope it's extremely clear to them what the choices are. They saw a bunch of their own get killed, cooked and eaten. That's some horrible shit to live through."
Bazhak, having the most dumbfounded look on his face during this entire ordeal, approaches the party and, in a hushed tone, so that the prisoners don't hear anything, asks:
"Wait, who the hell is George? Since when do we have a fifteen-foot-tall Ice-Knight for a babysitter? Is this because what happened in Baldur's Gate? I told the Captain I never intended to sleep with Duke Eltan's wife, let alone his daughters... Why are you laughing?"
Meanwhile, Zeng approaches your huddle as well, and says:
"I do not care about the fate of these people, so I will let you decide, but I think there might be something useful downstairs, where the Nalfeshnee used to be, so I'll rummage around there. It seems to be quiet now".
With this, he leaves, going down the spiral staircase.
Finally, after some murmuring, the Old man, who clearly seems to be the leader of the prisoners, speaks up:
"We clearly underestimated what is going on here. The Duke might be in over his head. And it might be in his best interest to avert a confrontation with a side that can do... Whatever just happened here... And we would assist you, but please understand us. The Count is the Duke's enemy, we cannot surrender to his men, nor cooperate with them. If you had been sent by someone else, things would be easier, but we cannot work with the Count... I am sorry".
"We are on neither side of this conflict of yours, but understand that we will do this job to its completion. Just to spell it out for you - there is no way for you to leave this temple alive while maintaining any kind of position in this counts and dukes game."
He picks up the head of the hag and puts it on the corner of the table.
"See, George is playing golf, which is a game of rolling the heads of .. well, whomever.. into holes in the ground that are really the mouths of buried demons. We provide new "balls" for him in exchange of whatever he does for us."
Pointing at the head of the hag, "That's one."
He looks after Zeng and says, "Our end goal is to clear this whole place top to bottom and technically you're not a problem until we've dealt with the rest of this temple. I'll make you a deal - you get to explore this whole place right in front of us and get some more time to figure out how important these dukes and counts are for you."
He unsheathes his huge new knife and steps near the table. "Please let me know your choice by either placing your head on the table so I don't have to chase it around the room later. Or by sitting near the stairs going down. Either way we are going to take a short rest in a few minutes. You first old man."
The Old man looks at the Gith for some time, than says:
"What do you mean, you are not a side in this conflict? Are you not Count Gerrold's men? If so, that changes things..."
He turns to his men, says something, then back to you:
"If you are indeed not with the Count, then we can cooperate. Release us, and we shall accompany you wherever your employers' reside. And you need not worry that we will escape, none of us are even remotely in a shape to manage such a feat".
Meanwhile, Bazhak is still very, very confused, and is muttering:
"Maybe we got George looking over us because I once got lost in Neverwinter? But how could I not have, the damned city has dozens of streets!"
Before anyone even answers, one of the guys seems to have taken interest in what Dihek'nir is saying, and asks:
"If we survive all this, would you explain the rules of Golf in detail? I always wanted to know about foreign sports, and you are clearly not from here..."
Together, Zeng and Gedyr go through the lower floor. It is similar in shape to the room above, except this one does not have a cell like the one in which the prisoners are located above.
The floor, at points, has some disgusting liquids splattered on it. This is, likely, where the Nalfeshnee used to consume its victims.
During their investigations, Zeng turns to Gedyr:
"Hey, you are exactly as much at a loss as to what happened above, as I am, right? The Nalfeshnee was forced to teleport to us, it looked very surprised, and the Knight... It's no George, I can tell you that. Someone put on a show there, someone clearly very powerful, who, for some reason, wanted to demonstrate their powers to us. This world seems to be more confusing than I had first surmised".
As for your search, it is quite fruitful. Each of you finds an item that seems very interesting.
Zeng finds a Magic Wand. He does not thing it will be useful to him, but believes that others within the party may like to have it.
Meanwhile, Gedyr has found a sword hilt, that seemed to be pointless. However, upon grasping it, a blade made of light appeared out of nowhere. It is a Sun Blade.
"Huh, why would a pig-demon have such items, I wonder..." Says Zeng, but does not look a gift horse in the mouth.
There is nothing else of interest on the floor below.
Ferdinand says to the old man: „we are indeed not the count‘s men. We work for the admiral of the navy, but we are not bound by any contract. What kind of cooperation are you talking about?“
Gedyr finds the sword to his liking. Light enough and in the Longsword style he was trained as a youth..."This is an amazing weapon"
"I have no idea who that knight was. i was reminded of our former comrade aboard the Void Skipper, Wilhelm. Remember he came and went through Golden portals, different seeming than this. I wonder if this knight was related to his order....He had warned us of some grave peril and I can't help but wonder if this is related."
"Well, they made our day a little easier, so whoever they are, I like 'em." Bala turns back to the prisoners. "Alright then. Before we make any rash decisions, can I get some names?" He asks, specifically the old man, whilst tossing a dagger up and down.
"My name is Hadred, like the Emperor", The old man says, then points out others: "This lady is Harenne, that impudent young man is called Athel, and these two are curly and baldy..." He pauses, then explains: "I mean, they're both called Edgor, but every other parent feels the need to call their son the Empire's founder's name, so calling them Edgor is not helpful, hence the nicknames".
Meanwhile, Gedyr and Zeng come back upstairs. You now know, that there is nothing else of interest in the Temple. You can have either a short or a long rest here, or just leave to return to Needham Harbor.
Dihek'nir says, "Sure, lets take a long rest and I can talk about golf."
He looks around, "But the stench here is killing me, lets find a spot right outside the temple."
"Before we go though, we need to make something very very clear. You are not leaving this temple as duke's men. Instead you are leaving as the emperor's men. This means that you need to leave behind anything and everything that can identify you as such. Throw all of it into the pot. Anything you might have had and left in the cell - throw it in the pot."
"Also, if we come across anyone outside - leave the talking to us."
The old man looks at Dihek'nir, than at himself and his man:
"We have nothing related to the Duke or our office left anyways, these rags were in this cell when we were put in here. Our clothes... I don't even know what happened to them, but we were all fully naked when we woke up here. So, not looking like the Duke's men will not be a problem. And we can indeed keep quiet. However, once we are all debriefed by the Navy, we will be the Duke's men again. This is not your problem, of course, but let me be as clear as possible - We are agreeing to surrender to you and to cooperate fully before we are taken to our place of imprisonment, but our allegiance to the Duke remains in place".
With this, he does what DIhek'nir asked him of. He seems sincere.
„You managed to get yourself a good deal, my friend! Honor and life.“ ferdinand walks over to dihek‘nir and says: „glad you handled that. I would not have been able to kill them in cold blood.“
Walking out when they're a bit away, he asks Ferdinand, "He looked genuine to me, how did he and especially the others take this whole development? I know we watch our backs, but should we be especially careful in your opinion?"

Gedyr is also going to head down the stairs to investigate the lower room following Zeng.
