In the forest, keeping up with the caravan, looking to strike at the front of the caravan. No-one has noticed them except Soar, Jalt and Elspeth. You have ten seconds to act before they attack.
Soar, you see them speeding north and past, away from you, moving towards the front of the caravan. At least four spiders, and one... other thing. Bulbous, purplish, ugly. You glimpse its bloated form through the trees and resist the urge to shudder.
Boar calls out, "BIG SPIDERS COMING AT THE FRONT, ALL HANDS AT THE READY" and nods at Lasfelro and runs up to place herself between the caravan and the spiders with the weird bloated thing. She passes the cultist's wagons and looks at them, saying, "ALL" with emphasis and keeps moving without more of a look.
If she can draw a javelin and fire as she goes, she will, and if not, she'll have one at the ready for when they get within range, and then draw her sword.
Soar, the caravan and its people hear your yell, and react. The cultists glare at you, weapons drawn. Nate, you hear this and can chase after Soar if you wish. As you reach the front, Eldkin shouts out: Strike force up, others at range, ready! Spiders and... something else... burst from the trees.
Nate would've likely been daydreaming at his wagon the moment Boar yells out about the spiders. It startles him "Woah! Spiders, yee-haw damn I best be going Ma'am!" Nate says to Edhelri as he would immediately hop off the wagon and try to catch up with Boar. He would look at Soar as they are running, in his normal Nate self say "Here we go again.... ok I have you guys covered, how many spiders do you think you can decapitate!" Nate is likely having a hard time keeping up with Soar as they run to battle.

Elspeth jumps up in alarm as she catches sight of the spiders and the alarm goes out. She nods acknowledgement to Eldkin's command before grabbing her scimitar and heading out to face the spiders.

Soar's javelin thuds into a tree and drops harmlessly to the ground. As it does so, you get your first clear view of the creature that travels with the spiders, ugly, stranglely coloured, bulbous and monstrous:

Boar, your sword swing is interrupted as you slip and momentarily lose your footing, though you recover quicky.
The horrible unknown creature lumbers past Boar and closes in on Jalt. Its mouth opens to reveal two rows of sharp teeth, and it bites towards the dragonborn's arm:
Attack: 22 Damage: 3 For a moment, it seems the damage isn't too bad, but then you wince from the feeling of 5 poison damage. Make a CON save.
As it grips Jalt's arm in its mouth, a claw comes round, aiming for the neck:
Attack: 6 Damage: 9
Jalt, shield ever at the ready, manages to deflect the attack with a loud clang.

Nate is going to quickly dart around back behind the wagon, the one that Harriman and Cove are behind, and then will cast Moonbeam
"Dammit! Someone musta' went and hit that thing with a giant ugly stick! Time for it to fry!"
While in the cover of the wagon, Nate's eyes kind of go white for a moment, and Harriman and Cove likely notice. Then, out of nowhere a beam of light shoots forth from the sky and will center itself directly on the freakish beast that just attacked Jalt. Nate ducks down behind the wagon, eyes white and controlling the moonbeam as it fries the beast. 16
CON save required = 14, damage halved if success.
(if Nate can't make it to the wagon, then he will crouch behind that bush. But I much prefer back behind the wagon if possible)
Elspeth has spent too much time as a giant spider herself to be fazed by the spiders, but the sight of the grotesque creature closing in is enough to motivate her to retreat a few steps back before she reaches out a hand, calling on the land for aid. Standing next to Eldkin, she warns the other guards: "Don't charge at them! Pepper them with arrows and wait for them to come to us."
She casts spike growth so it covers about this area (DC 13 Perception):
(It will take the damage on the start of its next turn.)
As Nate dodges and ducks behind the cart, Elspeth moves back, calls out her command, casts her spell and... nothing appears to happen, at least to the other onlookers. Elspeth, you know that the spell was cast successfully, but the spikes are hard to perceive.

Spider 1 sees the thorns, and moves up to them, then it casts its web at Soar:

Boar, you see a strange globby mess of webbing flying towards you, and with your shield you slam it harmlessly down onto the ground near your feet.
Spider 2 is right in Soar's face, and makes a bite attack:
Attack: 18 Damage: 10
You're not able to get your shield back into position in time, but the teeth close over the metal of your armour, and it deflects the damage.
Spider 3 and Spider 4 both skitter towards Elspeth and Eldkin, and they feel the sharp stab of the spikes beneath their feet. They each take 4 damage before halting. As the damage was so minor, they both continue, taking another 8.
Eldkin curses as the webbing covers her and restrains her, but Elspeth you are able to slice it in two in mid-air, leaving you free to move and act.

Jalt, you succeed on the saving throw - just. You still take all the damage, but have a feeling it could have been worse... :)
