Believe we are headed to the intersection Caron said we were to go via his magic message, from Leosin possibly. We are trusting Jamna to follow the cart and we can meet with her at another tavern she mentioned. The pub Soar talked about a couple times is for when and if they need a place to lie low away from any chaos. She also would want to stop by there if they have a free day or two.
[ah, gotcha, sorry, running on low fuel, talk of the chapter house threw me for a loop]
Elspeth, with her magic glasses, is going to join Soar in her search for obvious signs of the black antler, on landmarks, items, perhaps stitched into clothing, hopefully discreetly as well, particularly since she can afford to keep her distance a little. If and only if that doesn't do it, will Elspeth risk approaching any of the people on the street. She'll absolutely consult Soar first though, as the chief of the diplomatic division, if she wants to do the talking. She'd prefer to approach the halfling tending to the greenery.
"You do fantastic work, you know." She'll say happily to the halfling. "It's so refreshing to see little reminders of nature's beauty in our cities. I honestly can't thank you enough for the effort you go towards maintaining our parks and gardens." In between, she'll leave enough time for the halfling to respond as need be. "This really brings back reminders of the old days, back in my village. We used to have a <insert what species of tree it is, I'm hoping Els would know?> on our village green, gave all the little ones shade to play in. We planted a sapling in the fields once, but first come next morning we found a massive stag, great black antlers, chewing through the leaf shoots. Largest stag we've seen. Sapling didn't survive, alas, but there you go, tragedy of life. I didn't expect to find one growing so well in the city, you know. They can be finicky, but you've done a good job."
Soar and Elspeth, please make Perception checks, Elspeth with advantage.
Thank you, says the halfling in a friendly voice - he seems happy for the chance to chat. Are you new to the city? You look it, if you don't mind me saying. First day?
"Oh, well, it's my first real visit. Mostly I just passed through." She nods enthusiastically. "Haven't really had a chance to see the sights, you know? I'm looking forward to it."
Be careful, the halfling says. At night especially. Best be finding a decent inn and bedding down for the night.
Above you the sun is setting, and the halfling starts packing up to head home.
Soar, you don't notice anything, but Elspeth, you notice that the elderly human woman reading a book is wearing a small lapel pin on her coat, with the image of a black stag on a white background.
Soar's just trying to get a closer look at the book the woman's reading, after seeing Elspeth first go toward the painter and not wanting to double up on anyone.
She's not super obvious, but she's futilely looking on the outside of the book for some sign. If she's noticed, she'll say, "Sorry! Whatcha reading? Anything good? I'm Soar."
Soar, the woman raises an eyebrow. Just a pleasant story, to pass the time. She returns to her reading, showing no interest in continuing the conversation. She doesn't introduce herself back.
Nate would be watching on as Soar and Elspeth begin their investigations to find the antlers. Nate can't hear any of those conversations, especially the one with the halfling and Elspeth, and the elderly woman... so in Nate's eyes, we aren't making any progress finding the antlers. Nate is quite tired and is craving a good nights sleep and didn't even really clue into the fact that the antlers could've been more of a hint and it could've been perhaps a person around vs. an actual ovbious Inn or something to that effect.
so thats why they are talking to these folks...
Nate would watch on as Soar and Elspeth speak to the people around, seeing if one is our contact.
Enspeth grins amiably at the halfling, and nods her agreement. "Of course, I understand. I'll take my leave then." She waves goodbye to the halfling and circles nonchalantly back to Soar. "Hello, Boar." She greets. "Found a new friend?" She nods a greeting to the woman, smiling as she gestures at the pin, not wanting to beat around the bush this time. "Nice pin. Do you know where I can get one like that? Love the black-antler thing."
Soar, you don't see anything that looks like antlers.
Elspeth, the woman nods. I see. You'll want to have a look in my shop, then. I've got lots of things for sale there. She points to a blue painted door five houses down. Why don't you go on ahead, and I'll catch up in a few minutes. Mind you don't touch anything.
The shutters are down, but when you test the door, you find it's open. You push, and enter into the shop.
This is not a jewellery shop exactly, though jewellery is certainly sold. You might describe it as a shop of knick-knacks. Pendants, music boxes, small ornaments and statues, but also small items of more mundane use - pots and pans, cutlery, baskets and boxes. It's not exactly touristy, though certainly tourists would find plenty to interest them. And there are a lot of pins - pretty much anything you can imagine, every animal you've ever seen, ever city flag and colours you can imagine. The flags of Elturel, Waterdeep, Neverwinter, Baldur's Gate, even places further afield like Athkatla and the Moonshae Isles. It's clean, and a little dark now that the sun is setting and the shutters closed, but lamps burn on two walls of the main shop room, and you see a door leading further into the building, presumably to the living space. You stand together in the centre of the room, and there doesn't appear to be anyone else around.
"Wonder if they have a pin from Greenest,"Soar says, wandering around. She looks into the doorway that leads further into the building. "Miss that place. Or Elturel. What was the crazy name of that bar? The One With The Black Antlers? Something like that."
No sign of more antlers, no people watching, no secret doors. Two very obvious doors, of course - the one you entered through from the street, and the one that heads into the back of the shop.

Soar nods amiably and turns away, looking for black antlers printed somewhere on a signpost, or hidden behind a rock, anything.

“I’ve never had a pin!” Soar says, and heads over to the storefront and walks in, encouraging Nate and Jalt to join her and Elspeth.
Nate joins them.
Jalt as well but being mindful of his surroundings as he is the last to enter the shop

She casts detect magic as she's looking around.
Any of you can make a Perception check to look for something specific.
Soar, you don't detect anything magical.
Soar perception for more antlers, hidden people watching them, secret doors etc: 20
