Soar, Blagothkus seems unsure how to answer about where you are. North of where we began; I do not recall the village's name. Small folk names mean little to me. We are near the Akhragarath, if that helps. I am sure you can find some other small folk to ask.
The two stone giants laugh and attempt to engage Soar in a high five; they manage to avoid doing any harm, but it's a close run thing.
No, the vampire will leave of her own accord, I am certain, Blagothkus continues. Perhaps you should make haste; I would not wish her to follow and attack you, though this is unlikely. Her nature is to find a new home before making any kind of attacks.
Yes, you can retrieve your treasure items from the guest rooms.
Nate, I would add an additional 9 rubies, each worth 200 gold pieces, to what you have found.
Please all make sure that you have added everything you are taking onto your character sheets.
Added gold to Soar’s purse and then made notes about the unidentified magic items, dragon stuff, and gems. Can distribute and identify later.
Soar nods and looks around from the courtyard. She thanks Blagothkus for working with them and for his support. She asks what he plans to do now, with the cult perhaps set back quite a bit. What he hopes for with the giants and opposing Tiamat.
She also says if he finds himself in Waterdeep to look her up to say hello. And she asks if there is a way to get in touch with him, especially if she sees the castle flying by.
Then she, barely feeling the exhaustion ready to pull her down, gets ready to see where the castle will leave them.
Nate wouldn't interact with the giants and also after going through what the party just went through is feeling quite exhausted although still nervous about the vampire. He is wondering where the castle will take them and how fast word will travel of Soar's slaying of Glazhael.
Nate would offer healing to Soar, Jalt and Nub if they needed it. Depending on what is next and if we have an opportunity to rest of course.
"I can still help with any wounds you all might have. Soar, I think I understand the meaning of a doomguide now." he smiles at her in a clearly in-awe, slightly intimidated manner. "That was... intense. I can't believe you did that. It all happened so fast!"
"Is this... over?"
He's got a lot of spell slots left so if anyone needs healing let me know.
Blagothkus speaks of his plans to meet up with other giants, though he seems reluctant to give specifics of who or where. He is unsure how they can get in touch with him in future, and seems uncertain about whether there could ever be a need for such a thing.
The gates to the castle open, and you get your first view of the outside world. It's clear that the castle has landed in a forest, with trees flattened beneath the castle and thick forest surrounding in all directions as far as you can see. From the castle interior itself you get something of a view from above, but approaching the gate to leave, it's clear the dense forest, without paths that you can see, surrounds you completely.
Farewell, smallfolk, Blagothkus says formally. Well done for challenging that beast; you fought impressively. As for the matter of Tiamat, we giants will deal with her, have no fear. And now, I bid you safe travels.
(Soar had to try to get a giant floating penpal, didn't she? At least there was a high five involved.)
Soar bids the giants and even the ogres farewell in her typical upbeat, friendly manner. She smiles and only blushes slightly at the compliments. She's not sure about the giants being able to handle Tiamat and the rest of the cult though. She waves goodbye as she leaves (but not before confirming that they have all the treasure and stuff they'd found).
Nub ensures he has all the paper and ink and records and items they found with the red wizard and Rezmir. (Can you add that to his sheet -- the records?)
As they look around the forest, she says, "being magically dumped in a random forest... my favorite thing."
Nate feels safer once the castle lands even though not knowing where they are. At first he feels at peace knowing they landed in a forest, but then not knowing where they actually are is going to be a bit of a problem.
"Well in other circumstances it might be nice." he kind of says in a dark joking manner. "At least we're off the castle!"
Do we get a sense at least of direction? Like what north would be? Do we get a sense of what time it might be?
We didn't get a chance to take some time and rest in the castle before we got dropped off, right?
"We are injured, I can heal us before we decide which way to go. Or we could set up camp here and hope nothing bothers us at night. I'm sure it won't be as bad as the dragon though." and he winks at Soar.
He'd ask the others as well if they have any magic that can determine where we are.
It is the middle of the day. You can tell from the sun where north is, yes. You didn't get a chance to rest in the castle before being dropped off.
Shortly after you disembark, there's a loud creaking sound that grows louder and louder; out of instinct, you find yourselves moving away from the castle as it slowly begins to rise, releasing the trees that were pinned beneath it, and sets of into the sky, headed northeast.
The thick forest surrounds you, though the flattened trees mean that you are getting a decent amount of sunlight, you can see that when you enter the forest proper, this will not be the case.
Soar watches the castle fly off. Then, after seeing nothing around them, turns to Jalt, Nub, and Nate. "Well that happened fast. Is everyone okay? I'm pretty beat up and tired. I can't believe we killed a dragon! I mean, I had faith we could, but that was a big thing. But now we're stranded in the middle of nowhere. Jalt, can you still fly? Maybe you can zoom around and get a better sense of what's around us. Nate, any druid secrets you can use to figure out how to get where we need to go? I can speak with animals to find out what's within a day's journey around here, any monsters, any settlements. But I'm pretty tapped out, so Nate, maybe you can try it if that's something you're able to do."
Soar (and Nub!) try to wrack their brains of what they know about where Parnast is, and then what would be forests due north-ish of there, taking into account about how far the castle could travel over the course of a day and a half.
Vanilla d20 rolls for Soar (17) and Nub (11), and add whatever makes sense -- guessing history or investigation or something.
"What's our plan? We stopped these cultists, but there are more. We're need rest, but we're in the middle of the woods. We have allies who probably need to get a report from us, but we have literally no way of talking to them. So first step I'd say is to find out where we are, and either get somewhere more civilized if it's close, or rest here for the day and begin traveling tomorrow. But ideally, what do we want to do? Go find where the cult was going? Get word to Ontharr and Leosin? Go back and regroup in Baldur's Gate or Waterdeep, if we're closer? Return some of the treasure to the victims, and keep some for ourselves?"
---
Nub just wants to get to his spellbook when he can. He does try to remember from the maps he's seen where they could likely be. While the others sort out next steps, he begins ritually casting leomund's tiny hut to give them a safe place to rest, if indeed we're resting here. Otherwise he defers to those who know how to navigate.
Jalt is not able to fly any more; it's a concentration spell, and Blagothkus ended it when combat ended.
I think that as you didn't really know where Parnast was, you don't really have any chance to know where you are now, at least not just from your own knowledge. You will probably have to explore...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I wonder how much they even care?"Nate referring to Ontharr and Leosin. "I'm sure news of a dragon slaying will travel fast. I'm sure they'll care about that a lot more than what has become of us."
"As for me, I don't think I can do this anymore. All of this. I grow tired chasing vengeance. We almost died multiple times. After seeing you decapitate that dragon I wanted to feel better. But I don't. Maybe that was the answer I've been looking for the entire time. To make me realize that I will never find happiness by seeking out revenge. I don't know."
Nate would agree with Soar about speaking with animals to try and figure out where we are, and would cast the spell. Here's a roll to see if there are any helpful animals that might be able to provide some information about our location. A bird or a larger mammal. Nate would suggest that both he and Soar do this.
Specifically asking them if they can describe any large landmarks that might be around, or larger areas with '2-leggers' buildings all over the place (ie. a town or city)
Nate, you find a squirrel who's happy to chat. Though creatures like you (on two legs) occasionally come through the forest, there are no settlements that the squirrel has ever seen near here. She knows that there are many two-legs outside the forest, but she's never seen the edge of the forest. She suggests you keep walking in one direction, and you'll probably find some - she's heard from other squirrels that there are parts of the world where there are more two-legs than squirrels, though she's not sure she believes it.
Unfortunately, Soar's conversation with a young raven doesn't go much better. There are settlements in all directions but a long way away, and nothing near where you are in the forest.
If Nate's investigation is still needed: 20
