(Not sure why that post showed the manipulated dice rolls alert after I went in to edit just to add the smite damage... added some spaces around it and it went away. Nothing to see here, move along.)

Soar, you duck through the space between Jalt and the cave wall, managing to avoid his war pick on the back swing. Opposite Elspeth, and with the warrior's attention firmly on the massive wolf that has grabbed his arm, you get a clear strike with your (warhammer?) and you call upon Kelemvor to lend his power. The warrior staggers, but like his friend in the previous cave, he is hardy and can take a lot of damage.
Nate, your attack misses and clatters loudly against the cavern floor as it bounces towards the kobolds. One of them snickers and picks it up.
Round Two: Warrior Elspeth Drake Jalt Kobolds 1, 2, 3 and 4 Nate and Soar
The warrior is intent on finishing off WolfElspeth, and he brings his greataxe round in an attempt to decapitate her:
Attack: 18 Damage: 14
Elspeth, you duck and feel the axe come oh so close to nicking an ear, but you avoid it.
(Is the warrior raging? When did the rage start? Was wondering if Soar slipped in to hit him before the rage started, having seen how effective the other's rage was...)
Ah, I just assumed he was taking half damage! Got it. Yikes. Also tip for wildshape Elspeth -- you can add the full hp of the new wildshape form as temp hp on the character sheet, and then keep track of damage that way.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Unfazed by the Guard Drake closing in on her, Elspeth continues to focus her attacks on the warrior, pushing the offensive right after she managed to duck out of the way of the warrior's attack.
Attack: 20 Damage: 9
((hey, thanks, rk! i'm currently using the others section to track this, steve - would you mind if it switched it over mid-combat?)
This time Elspeth's jaws lock onto the man's leg and he needs a few seconds to shake the massive wolf off.
STR saving throw: 13
But he manages to stay on his feet again.
The drake opens its jaw revealing rows of very sharp teeth; it feigns left, then right, then snaps towards Elspeth's haunch:
Attack: 21 Damage: 9
It grabs on, teeth sinking deep into flesh. As it has this hold, its tail swipes round to attack Elspeth as well:
Attack: 14 Damage: 4
Elspeth's wolf form disappears, and the drake gives a start of surprise as the large wolf between its jaws vanishes, and a tiefling pops into existence nearby.
Jalt is up.
(It's up to you if you want to use the 'extras' or temp HP, I don't mind. Does your maths agree with mine on Elspeth's wolf? I have that last tail attack killing the wolf with 1 HP damage carrying over to Elspeth.)
Jalt looks at both the Drake and the Warrior... sensing that the Warrior is in worse shape he swings his war pick high above his head and attacks Attack: 22 Damage: 5
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Hoard of the Dragon Queen - Jalt Rhogar - Dragonborn Cleric (9)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
There's a horrible squelching noise as the war pick hits flesh on the warrior's unarmoured upper arms. Another gash, and more blood, but he's still standing. And determined.
There a round of laughter and cheers from the kobold when the Dire Wolf is destroyed. They take aim once again with their slings, but spread out their targets more evenly this time:
Kobold 1 attacks Jalt: Attack: 9 Damage: 3
Kobold 2 attacks Elsepth: Attack: 11 Damage: 4
Kobold 3 attacks Soar: Attack: 19 Damage: 4
Kobold 4 moves in closer to attack Nate: Attack: 14 Damage: 4
Jalt and Nate take the hits; a stinging rock to the face; your vision blurs for a moment, but comes back quickly enough.
Soar grits her teeth and swings the longsword as hard as she can at the warrior's head, bellowing a war cry to Kelemvor that she hopes strikes fear into the hearts of the kobolds and drake.
The warrior twists his body, bringing his shoulder up to block Soar's sword; or rather, to take the hit. A deep slash, but he only grunts as another wound drains a little more life from him. The drake sniffs; the smell of blood is thick in the air. The kobolds chitter from where they stand, menacing but skittish at the same time.
Nate thinks they are doomed, but won't leave his new friends, so he will go to E5 and attack the warrior with his dagger, going for the neck. Attack: 22 Damage: 4
When Nate was going to E5, he was also unsheathing a second dagger. I don't think Nate'd be able to move, unsheathe and attack twice all in the same round... but if you'd allow it, here's the two weapon fighting second attack. I totally get it though if Nate can only have the one attack plus the unsheathe. Attack: 23 Damage: 3
Nate’s dagger slips between the warrior’s chest armour and leggings, not too far but enough to draw blood.
(Nate can draw one weapon as a free action in the round, but I don’t think he already had a weapon drawn, did he? He threw a dagger last round, and I don’t see a reference to him drawing his main dagger at the start of the fight. So just one attack this round, but two are possible next time.)
Would Soar be able to push the warrior onto the drake, or use her hammer to try to hit the warrior onto the drake? To try to get them to maybe fight each other, or fall into the pit? Grappling and moving people and targeted attacks have always confused me. Usually the ideas I have are never possible :)
(She's run out of magic, for the most part, and is just getting a little desperate.)
Can Soar move to attack the warrior? If so, she will do so, sliding along the wall to G4 to try to flank him.
Attack: 23 Damage: 9
If that hits, she will use the last of her divine power to smite him, hoping he's what's keeping this group fighting.
9 radiant damage
Nate, seeing his new friends jump into combat, prepares for the worst. He yells at them all:
"They are too strong! We have to get out of here while we still can!"
In the same moment of desperation, Nate will chuck a throwing dagger at the warrior. Attack: 9 Damage: 5
(Not sure why that post showed the manipulated dice rolls alert after I went in to edit just to add the smite damage... added some spaces around it and it went away. Nothing to see here, move along.)

(Is the warrior raging? When did the rage start? Was wondering if Soar slipped in to hit him before the rage started, having seen how effective the other's rage was...)
No, he's not raging. But he is making reckless attacks, so all attacks on him have advantage for the rest of the round.

"Ive heard it both ways."

The drake sniffs; the smell of blood is thick in the air. The kobolds chitter from where they stand, menacing but skittish at the same time.

(forgot this)
Nate actually yells in pain as his nose looks broken from that rock. "Ahhhh ****!!"
then he'd say the Let's go thing. haha

Round Three:

Warrior
Elspeth
Drake
Jalt
Kobolds 1, 2, 3 and 4
Nate and Soar
Die, little wolf, the warrior says; he holds his greataxe low and makes a powerful horizontal sweep, aimed at Elspeth's new tiefling form:
Attack: 16 Damage: 15
Elspeth, you take a slice across your front, a deep one that hurts like hell.
Elspeth is up.
Elspeth shrieks a little when the axe strike lands, staggering back. She looks back at Nate, concerned.
"Soar? Jalt? Should we go? I can cover our backs!"
Saying thus, she wildshapes again, this time into the form of a brown bear, jaws opening in a snarl as she attacks the warrior again twice.
Bite: Attack: 20 Damage: 10
Claws: Attack: 21 Damage: 13
(edit: ack, didn't see that bit about health calculations. it seemed right to me, so I think Elspeth's down to 15 hp now?)
