*surprisingly* shallow because from the outside it looks regulation depth....
Not that it matters any more because with two of them on the case the lid of the coffin slides to one side and crashes to the floor, cracking into several pieces.
Inside is a skeleton wearing the rusted remains of a breastplate and clasping a remarkably well preserved longsword to its chest.
Don't worry, the skeleton doesn't come to life or anything. How shit would that be?
However, the sword does rise up in a menacing fashion. TBK feels a strange tingle in his right shoulder. Dear lord, something is wielding that sword. Something formidable. Something that doesn't know the meaning of quit. Something familiar. The sword begins to trace shapes in the air - letters. N...o...n...e......s...h...a...l...l...p...a...s...s. In the torches light you catch sight of it, a translucent disturbance in the air. It's the ghost of The Black Knight's sword arm!
Yeah, now I read it back the skeleton was less naff. Too bad - init, transgressors!
(Unless you want to use an average party init like in the other game)

I was gonna suggest the false bottom possibility to one of y'all closer to the ground
My preference is DM rolls everyone's init at the same time, so we don't have to wait for everyone to post before anyone can act. Also, read "Too bad - init" as some foreign version of "too bad, isn't it" like they say on the TV if it comes from somewhere where TV is called telly
I trust in Dee'emm, give him more power!
But anyway Greg's initiative is 7
And, memo to team, in re all this "riding" chatter - ever hear the phrase "Gas, grass, or ass"?

You seem to have really hit a nerve there! The arm begins to make some very complicated and emphatic gestures to make it very clear to you exactly how little passing you're going to be doing. In doing so it drops the sword.

The sword does not appear to be happy about being picked up initially, struggling in your grip, but as you swing it at the spectral arm it stops fighting and puts it's whole weight behind the momentum (to treat this fairly, I'll only use this roll - 4 if it's >6 - Edit : so that's 8+3=11 slashing damage) slashing across the spectral arm's bicep and crashing into the floor - the jarring shock travels up into Gregs arm causing him to drop the blade. The arm beckons to it and it flies to it's outstretched hand. Pommel securely gripped, it turns sideways to flip you the finger while index, ring and pinky secure it's precious cargo.
(The Arm+Blade is actually immune to being grappled so technically you shouldn't be able to pick it up, but rule of cool and all that :D )

"Wow, a guy goes to some other realm for a day or so and all of the sudden arms and swords," The Black Knight says ans he walks towards the arm. "Hey buddy... how's it goin'?" he asks it a calm collected voice. "Man, I've really been looking for you. I mean, look at this hamtraption that I'm having to wear." TBK does a little modeling show, revealing his hammy extensions, including a fabulous twirl at the end to really show it all off. "Hey you know, we're on some mission to get broken glass save a kid, it'd be really nice to have you back with us, and by us, you know, I mean me. Can't tell you how much I've missed having my own arm. And I mean honestly, swiping all around spelling out things, impressive though it is, would really go further with a booming voice don't 'cha think? What'dya say old arm, old buddy. Jump aboard and give us a hand?" he holds up his swiney mitt, "And I do mean that quite litterlay. And together again, we could really put some oomph behind that NONE SHALL PASS!" (Inspired Persuasion: 14)
False bottom? Who said false bottom? What are you talking about? Why, to find something like that you'd need to roll investigation even if it did exist. Which it probably doesn't....
The spectre makes not a sound as Burt's rapier digs in. While it was an expertly aimed strike, the spectral hand seems to have left much of its capacity to suffer behind it.
Skuk said false bottom after you implied it. Blame him not me. investigation: 45 (well minus 40 for accidental adding 44, and my nat1 seems as bad as it was.) Unable to find the false bottom but feeling suspicious of the chest being the wrong size, he takes out his dagger and stabs the bottom to see if he can break it.
Iradon finds no sign of any false bottom, that's crazy talk, but there's no denying that his dagger makes a pretty hollow sounding noise on the bottom of this big heavy chest, reminiscent of tapping on balsa wood with a cavity behind it. (You can't spend your turn investigating and attack it with a dagger while in init order, I'm afraid)
TBK - your words seem to have moved the phantom arm. He seems very, very keen to rejoin the team. And there's only one way he can do that - by chopping off your hammy toy-boy arm so you can get back with your spectral ex!
Called Shot : 3 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
It darts past Burt and Greg (well, through Greg, a cold and unsettling feeling), and swings at your shoulder but it goes wide - thankfully more toward empty air than, say, your head.
Burt, Greg, feel free to take an Attack of Opportunity as it goes by.
Who puts a shallow chest anywhere? Is the coffin also shallow? Maybe it is a flat man?
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
