Darion- as your vision goes white you blink and suddenly see from a tall perch through Robyn's eyes. Looking around you are able to spot the group roughly 100 feet below to the south. 80 feet east of the group is a small pack of large quadruped beasts with three horned frills eats by a patch of ferns. 50 feet north of the pack stands a large bipedal creature that remains nearly motionless other than a slight bobbing from slow rhythmic breathing. As the group moves into cover you see the bipedal creature's gaze remain transfixed on the pack of quadrupeds. A tense few seconds pass before the bipedal predator springs forward bursting through the foliage and into the pack of herbivores. The pack is caught off guard and tries to maneuver to defend the smaller beasts but one is knocked over by the predator.
The rest of the group- you watch as Darion moves to a tree and crouches as he leans against it for support then goes silent as his eyes roll back in his head. A few seconds of silence pass before you hear the snapping of branches and heavy footfalls followed by various noises that sound as though coming from a pack of animals. You try to follow the sound but can't seem to peer through the thick foliage around you.
Rawk will quietly draw her sword and shield while her wings curl around Tahvo to conceal him more. She'll look at the others then in the direction of the noise.
Darion speaks quietly "It seems one of the big predators has just secured itself dinner... I suggest we take a circuitous route around them. Especially as, if I remember correctly, the kill is likely to attract other interested creatures."
He will indicate the direction and distance to the fight.
Erro & Rawk- You peer into the brush and as the brush sways in the wind you can just make out the form of two large bodies, one predatory and the other prey. Behind the two appears to be a spiked wall that moves back until you realize it's multiple creatures with horns and a frill around their neck standing side by side in a defensive position. The tall bipedal predator stands over it's wounded prey while the pack of triceratops slowly back away.
Following Darion's direction you all manage to take a wide arc around the predator and its meal. As you pass you can hear the crunching of bones and chewing of flesh. Tahvo lets out a small whimper but the beast seems to preoccupied to notice the sound. You continue forward averting danger for the second day and about midway through the day the light rain ceases and rays of sun begin to breach the jungle canopy. You are unable to find any secure camping ground safer that the respite of a large tall tree that you settle against using the large roots as partial cover. The night passes and the humidity in the air from the rain earlier seems to dissipate slightly as a cool breeze passes through. You awaken to a cool damp morning. Dew sits on the ground and occasionally drips from the tips of fern leaves. You pack your things and eat another berry that Elia provides sustaining you for the day. You embark on your third day of travel and make good time passing through the jungle in the morning until you come across a large expanse of plains that seems to be part of a river valley.
The plains: Though the elevation change is slight you are still elevated above the valley enough to see out across the field with ease. The open area is potmarked with individual trees and scattered boulders. Looking a few miles to the east you can make out what appears to be multiple packs of animals gathering by a river. Elia points to the north and says, "We will be out in the open but hopefully far enough away from the river to attract predators." As your gaze shifts you see far to the north more jungle that increases in elevation, not to the size of a mountain but a large hill.
(You have 4 miles of plains between you and the jungle to the north. You can traverse the plains in an hour if you move quickly but will be more visible to anything nearby. You can cover the plains in a little over an hour if you travel at normal pace. If you travel slowly it will take you two hours but can move stealthily. What will you do?)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Erro will ponder over the quandary for a minute and then give his opinion, “There doesn’t appear to be many places to hide, and we have five bodies to conceal. I would think the longer we spend on the plain the more chances we have of being noticed. Perhaps we should move at a normal pace.”
11 Survival to see if there is any insight into the situation.
Erro- While the group looks around them you focus on the endpoint and the land between you. You systematically begin making mental notes of each tree and boulder creating a zigzag route between places of cover. Using your skills in tracking and navigation you successfully map out a mental path that will provide you the most cover.
(Using this path will allow the group one of the following benefits: You can travel stealthily at normal pace. If you travel at a slow pace you get advantage on your stealth roll.)
Darion looks out over the plain, initially favouring caution, but as he listens to Erro gives a nod "That is a really good point! I wonder what prying eyes will be watching?"
As they rest up a minute (Which he is very grateful for, as he is struggling somewhat with the more arduous wilderness trek. He is far out of his comfort zone, and missing the familiarity of cities. He is trying hard not to show this to the others though) he walks over to Tahvo
"How are you holding up?" there is concern in his voice, a nagging concern that having got Tahvo so far safely, their luck will run out.
Ellis looks out at the open plains, worried about being seen before hearing Erro as he thought about it. "Yes, we should be quick and careful." he said back and nodded. He saw Darion go over to Tahvo, remembering how he had whimpered earlier and can only imagine how scared he was. "It'll be okay, we are getting closer to your home. Just be brave and calm." Ellis would say to Tahvo as he walked over, trying to comfort and reassure the boy.
Rawk removes her sheltering wings from around Tahvo when she sees Darion and Ellis come to check on him. She'll listen to Erro then take that short time to fly up to a tall perch and get a better view of the area.
Darion & Ellis- Tahvo appears to be gleaming despite recent events. His child attention span has caused him to already forget the danger and his heart is again full of hope and excitement to see his family. "I'm okay. How much longer do we have to walk? I'm ready to see my parents. Are we really really close Ellis? Like I might see them today?" he says seemingly shrugging off any fears.
Rawk- you fly up into the air and perch yourself about 120 feet above the ground. You gaze around the vast open plain as your avian genes kick in and you begin to focus in on a field rat. You aren't hungry but the sight of it instantly flares your bird of prey instincts. You watch as the field rat scurries between patches of grass and remain laser focused ignoring the rest of the landscape around you. After about a minute of following the rat it burrows behind a large stone and you resume looking around the area. It's vast and big but you keep glancing back to where the rat was. After another 10-20 seconds you decide to drop from your perch and regroup with the others.

(Lol) Erro nods at the report offered by Rawk. “Righto everyone, let’s get a move on. The less time we have to spend out there, the better. I think I can see a simple path which might keep us reasonably concealed.”
Erro pauses before he adds the advice “act casual” and decides not to add it, as acting inconspicuous probably did not apply to sneaking by giant lizards.

Ellis had heard Tahvo, smiling and thinking of what to say. "I'm not sure how much more exactly, but we're getting there. Yeah, we might be able to see them today. But you have to be quiet while we're moving, okay?" he said back to the boy, reassuring him.

Erro crouches, breathlessly silent, wary of danger. He prepares to unsheathe his blade and shield.

For now, unless Darion with his familiar’s view suggests otherwise, Erro will remain in his concealed position waiting to see what happens.

If we get into initiative order and need an action before there is more information, we’ll say that Erro is taking the Dodge action.
Ellis will also stay where he is and look at the others before glancing in the direction of the noise too.

“Discretion is the better part of valor they say,” Erro whispers. “Let’s go around and give them a wide berth.”
