You slowly creep out from behind the boulder and resume your journey across the plains. You watch as the rippers slow and fan out as they prepare for an attack while you move further north. As you approach the edge of the forest you watch and the rippers initiate their attack. Two leap up out of the grass and startle the now peaceful herd causing another stampede. Faced with a more immediate danger the herd scatters leaving a few of the younger creatures unattended. Three rippers spring from the eastern flank and attack the youngster while two other rippers continue to drive away the herd. The youngster is overwhelmed and quickly falls despite being larger than each of the rippers who strategically attack its flanks.
You continue forward finally reaching the forest and look back to see the provoking rippers rejoin the others in the feast. Were it not for the gruesome display, the river plains would be a beautiful spectacle, but with most things of this world beauty is usually accompanied by a myriad of deadly dangers. You trek for a few hours into the thick jungle, wishing to distance yourself from the rippers and plains before stopping to take a moments rest. The sun is sitting low in the sky and you know you only have an hour or two left of light.
I need one person to make a straight survival check! Anyone who wishes to take night watch make a perception check!
Darion sits down, letting what he perceives as the more skilled survivalists set up camp. "Robyn, why don't you help us keep watch?" he asks his familiar. She gives him a 'I knew you were going to say that' look and flies into the trees, getting a good spot to watch. He will check on Tahvo, then ask Elia "How close are we to the village?"
Tired, hot and bothered, Darion won't make much light conversation but spend a little time reading his spell books before turning in for the night, knowing Robyn will alert them if she sees anything.
Elia think for a moment calculating in her mind and replies, "We have made very good time so far. If we are able to continue avoiding danger, we should be able to reach the village within 3 days. The first half of the trip is always the easiest when traveling to Kainui. The jungle between us is much more dangerous due to the proximity to the river."
While Darion converses with Elia and Tahvo, Rawk Ellis and Erro each begin searching for a good spot to bed down for the night. Rawk and Robyn are able to find a prefect spot to setup camp, a large mangrove tree with tall roots that sit nearly 3 feet above the ground. You make your way slowly and quietly to the spot and Erro begins setting up the camp with Ellis' help and though rough looking it functions decently as a camp. It takes Erro the better part of an hour to get a small fire lit but as the sun sets and the coolness of night sets in you see the flickering of flames.

Darion and Ellis help Tahvo settle into his tiny cot and you each soon follow suit as Elia takes the first watch. The first watch passes uneventfully and she arouses the next person who keeps the second watch and so on. The night passes without incident and you all awaken to a warm, less humid day than before. Scattered rays of amber sunlight pierce through the jungle canopy and illuminate the way ahead. You gather your things and set off towards the village of Kainui.
I need a Perception and Survival check! Are you traveling quickly, regular pace or stealthy for the day?
Erro wakes up refreshed and encouraged and ready for the day. He wasn’t happy to hear it got even MORE dangerous in this direction, but beasts could be outwitted. What could be worse than the shadow?
Erro will want to move at a regular pace, but says since they have made such good time so far, taking it slow and stealthy may not be a bad idea either.
I don’t have Survival, so I’ll let Rawk roll. Incase you want to post before lightnin gets to it, here’s a survival roll: 19
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Darion gets up, feeling quite fed up with the jungle, of endlessly tramping through it and the oppressive humidity. He goes through his morning ritual of magically cleaning himself and looks around at the group. "Let's continue making good progress, the sooner we are at our destination the better! The longer we tarry, the greater the risk as far as I can see."
Darion would be in favour of moving at a normal pace.
Perception of Darion: 7
Perception of Robyn, once more flying above them and keeping an eye out: 22
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ellis would go along with what the rest of the group decides, but agrees with Darion about keeping up the good pace as well and wanting to go at a normal pace.
The morning sun warms the air as you make your way through the dense jungle. This area of jungle is more wild, not having been traversed as much. The undergrowth of ferns, vines and various flowery shrubs is thick and the large leaves and branches seem to cloud your sight lines. Even Robyn is having some difficulty in seeing long distances despite her high vantage point. Nevertheless, Erro is able to maintain a steady course in the right direction and is able to maneuver around patches of vines and roots that would be hard to traverse. You travel for the better part of 3 hours before stopping to take a moment to rest in a small patch of moss at the base of a large tree. Sweat drips from your head as the heat from the sun and taxing hike take their toll. The soft cushioning moss feels quite comfortable and you allow a moment of calm to settle in a Tahvo drinks from his water skin.
There's a sudden snap of a branch that catches you all off guard. You look in the direction of the sound and manage to just get to your feet as a towering bipedal creature that stands nearly 12 feet tall bursts through a patch of ferns. The beast's jaw opens wide revealing long sharp teeth as clawed arms reach out towards Erro, the closest prey. Muscular legs propel the creature towards you at incredible speed and within a second it reaches it's target and prepares to bite.
On his turn, he holds out his wand, giving it a slow, mesmerising rotation and suddenly the air around the beast fills with strangely shifting, iridescent lights for a few moments.
Darion has cast Hypnotic Pattern, Wisdom save DC of 15. He would place it so only the creature was effected if possible.
If there’s time in the split second before the beast crashes down upon Erro he’ll grab his shield to position it between him and the beast. Otherwise, he won’t have the extra 2 AC.
((Sidebar: Anyone getting this new adventure book coming out tomorrow? What I have heard sounds super interesting so far, but, it’s not like I don’t have a ton of other books sitting around already that I’ve not been able to lead a whole campaign through yet anyway, haha. If anyone does get it and has a slot to let me content share to view it, I would be most grateful.))
(Ah! I hate that I missed this action post for 7 hours! Sorry crew!)
Erro’s eyes flare an amber orange glow as he stares up at the beast, not without fear, and casts Hunter’s Mark as a bonus action. Erro will use his action to Dodge. Erro barely has time to react and he attempts to roll out of the way, positioning his shield between himself and the dripping hungry jaws.
((Oh yeah? Sweet!! I don’t see it though. I wonder if they have clamped down on that stuff? I’ve heard it is a really modular adventure and that you can drop in and steal from it easily. An easy list of no/low-prep one shots would be super handy))

(Yeah, sorry. I had meant to do that sooner but ended up forgetting.)
Ellis was stunned, seeing the beast as it goes to bite Erro before looking to Tahvo and Rawk! "Get Tahvo out of here!" he yells before he then casts Sleep on the beast so it only affects it and not anyone else.
Bonus Action: Mantle of Inspiration - 8 temp HP to Rawk, Erro, Darion, Tahvo and you all can use your reaction to move up to your speed without provoking opportunity attacks
Action: Casts 2nd Level Sleep on the Creature 29
Movement: Moves up to his speed toward wherever Tahvo goes away from the Creature
Darion Stealth: 22
