The passage into the cave is unlit, although the sunlight reaches far enough into the 10-foot-wide cave passage to let you see that it travels about 25 feet forward before turning south. Piles of rubble are strewn in the passage, large enough to hide behind. The ceiling is 10 feet above the ground, which stays level as far as you can see.
As you peer into the cave, you hear soft, guttural mumbling coming from behind the eastern wall ahead of you, right where the passageway turns south. Looking closer, you see that small holes riddle the wall.
"I knew I liked you guys," Uragum says with a wicked smile as he puts his arms around Otger and Zelra. "Now lets go kill some gobos." he says as he follows in behind them. He remains in the middle as they were before but keeps his attention more focused now. Enemies were about and a fight could happen at any time. He flexed his fingers in and out of a fist in anticipation. The thrill of battle was near palpable.
As the group catches up to her, Zelra points to the wall at the end of the passageway and speaks softly. "There's some sort of mumbling coming from behind that wall and there are small holes in it as well. Be careful... if we can hear them, they can hear us."
"Can we see through those wholes?" Whispered Ola as quietly as she could moving closer to Zelra "Would not risk it myself but someone more quiet might".
"Now that you mention it... they could probably see us coming through those holes. The rubble in the passage should be able to give us enough cover to let us get through without them seeing us if we're careful enough. What do you guys think?"
"If you want to sneak, go for it. But my old bones in combination with this.. less then stealthy armor.. make it very hard for me to move quietly. If some of you want to scout ahead and I stay here that might work, but with me moving along with you I doubt we'd get far before an alarm is rung." Otger says as he forgets with part of his chain mail. "We shouldn't delay too long in this chamber, either we fight or find a way around. Those people's lives must be saved."
Zelra stifles a laugh and gives Otger a quiet pat on his shoulder. "I'll be back." Jumping behind one pile of rubble at a time, she slowly and carefully tries to make her way deeper into the passage and as close to the turn south as she can so that she can peek in. If possible, she would also try and get a look through the holes on the eastern wall.
Using the rubble as cover, Zelra moves forward cautiously and quietly. Placing a hand on one large rock to peek around, she takes a glance at the eastern wall, before disappearing around the bend to the south.
For Zelra:
The holes in the wall are around the size of arrow slits. Through one of them, you see a goblin, standing sideways and chattering with someone or something else. The goblin seems distracted, so you slip right past, around the bend.
Ten feet ahead of you now is a large room littered with ratty blankets and bedrolls, some small bones from eaten rodents, and other filthy remnants of fine goblin living. Lice-ridden furs decorate the walls.
Before making her way into the large room, Zelra would silently smack her head as she forgot to check for traps in the passage way. Even though she hasn't encountered any yet, she would make sure to give the large room a quick once over for traps, now that she is deeper in the cave. If there are any, she would try to disarm them. After looking around for traps, she would look for any entrances/exits, particularly any that may lead to the room behind the eastern wall in the passageway.
A minute has passed since Zelra slipped around the corner of the cave. No noises have been heard from outside.
For Zelra:
You check just soon enough to avoid walking over a tripwire that has been set across the entrance to the room, roughly two feet across the ground. It looks simple enough to disable, but you notice that it connects with a wire that runs upward toward the ceiling, where a series of bells have been set up. You eventually manage to disarm the tripwire while only hearing the faint tinkling of a couple of the bells closes to the wire, and it seems that you did not draw any attention to yourself in the process.
When you enter the room itself, you see more of the same. The entirety of the room is lined with these furs, and the blankets, bedrolls, and bones cover the floor throughout the 20-by-30-foot room. Strangely, you see no exits or entrances aside from the one you have just walked through.
Zelra frowns at the lack of entrances/exits in the room and places her hand on the wall, slowly making her way around the room and checking to see if there are any hidden entrances/exits.
Another minute has passed. No sounds have been heard from the cave.
For Zelra:
The whole wall is lined with desiccated furs, to the point that stone can't even be felt beneath them. A layer of dust, grease, and lice covers your hand by the time you are done running it across the walls, and you find no sign of a hidden entrance or exit.
"Urgh. Gross."Zelra sighs and goes back to the group. As she arrives, she wipes her hand on Ola. Speaking softly, "Alright so I found a room which is probably where they all sleep but there were no other ways in or out aside from the one I came from. My guess is that there's a secret entrance in there but I couldn't find it. There aren't any goblins in there currently so if anyone wants to come, we can take our time to look for it. Oh and behind that wall with the holes in it are a few goblins. The holes look like arrow slits so they could probably shoot us if we're not careful."
"A secret entrance you say? So, what we just go in there and start ransackin the place...I mean quietly searching." Uragum says and then pauses a moment. "If you want, I can try to knock down the wall they hide behind. It will either work or get me shot up." He smiles his mischievous smile again.
Eeeh... no, she does not. At this distance one does not need much of dexterity check to avoid a disgusting contact and win a hand-grapple. But Ola like nobody else understands the needs for hygiene and can provide the poor girl with a handkerchief. Zelra can keep it afterwords.
"Or there is no secret entrance but everything of importance is behind the wall with arrow slits, right? How do they get in there?"
"Can you knock that wall inwards? If we are lucky, there will be no goblins to fight after that." It is hard to say whether Ola is serious or it is an attempt of a joke.
