After a few minutes, Snively looks up in shock from his notes, saying, “Oh no, I severely mistranslated that passage! I must apologize—that may not be an abandoned site of archaeological interest, but the very city with the Undead artifact!” Turning to look towards Maxine, he says excitedly, “You are right—we should avoid that location if we can, at least until we can form an expedition properly prepared for such an undertaking. Perhaps Shae’s vision she shared with us was a warning to give it a wide berth.”
Later, when Shae is examining him for medical issues, he says, “I am sorry for the big scene. You seem to be blessed by your experience with Kam, and the rest of us seem okay for the most part, but I am concerned for Maxine that her time in the jungle has cursed or diseased her somehow. You are the healer, though, and if you say she is fine, I will take you at your word.” Thinking for a moment, he adds, “Though if you think it wise, I can use a spell to see if she is under the influence of any sinister magics.”

As you're all settled down and Shae is getting ready to check up on Fang, she quickly realises that the lizardfolk is gone.
You all suddenly hear a scream, followed by giggling laughter. As you approach, you see Shae on the ground, laughing at the fright she gave herself. In front of her, on a rock, is a small red pseudodragon, seemingly very interested in the goings on. As you approach, you all sense a thought entering your mind: "peace", followed by Fang's face and a warm feeling. Before you can say anything, you hear a series of clicking sounds, and see the pseudodragon dart off, curling around Fang's shoulders. The lizardfolk walks slowly towards you, three skinned guinea pigs about the size of Fang's forearm dangling off a branch he laid over his shoulder. Seeing that Berrus had already made a fire, he cracks a smile.

Maxine left her (now) mobile and quick-to-pack laboratory (nothing serious, was contemplating the "morning potion") and run outside first - to scream, then, when the cute reason for that flew to his master - looked at the game he brought. "Oh, Fang, where have you been all these days! We can finally have a normal dinner!" She would not try to cook herself, of course, but gladly help with anything outside of cooking - like keeping campfire alive.
Shae will feel a wave of relief with Maxine's hug. It was physical comfort that she forgot she missed. Looking over her friend, she couldn't help but chuckle at her curiosity followed by immediate dismissal. "Well," The warlock would tilt her head to the side while she looked closer at Maxine's changes. She'd reach out to touch her hair that has streaked white, "I kind of like it. It's like your intelligence showing." She'd wink, trying to make a playful aging joke. Though, Shae was telling the truth. She did like it. "It's different. I like different." She'd smile. "F those Monkeys...We'll see the ocean." Even if for whatever reason they don't see the ocean when they reach Refuge Bay, Shae would make note to offer to go on an adventure of their own one day to see it for themselves.
"How do you feel though?" Sure she was asking for medical reasons, but she was curious about how she felt overall. Were there positives? Energy? Did she feel not just good, but better? Stronger?
Snively's Check:
Shae will look to the Professor and offer a reassuring smile, "I rather a passionate debate over static silence any day." She'd pause. "There were days Kam's voice felt like a curse, tormenting me with mental stigma. It's taken a shipwreck in the middle of the jungle, a random group of strangers and having a friend like Maxine who trusted me more than I trusted myself, for me to embrace my relationship with Kam as a gift. We all are blessed in our own ways. Fang, I perceive as a survivor, a hunter. Berrus, a warrior and protector. Your intellectual gift that's brought civilizations together, definitely don't cut yourself short, Snively. And although I know you're struggling with Maxine, her instincts are something I do not question." Taking a breath Shae will continue. "Professor, in my eyes, she's been fiercely loyal to me despite my poor judgement. I've got a running list: Maxine warned me against those damned monkeys; Maxine was the first one to act when I slipped and almost fell into the ravine; we wouldn't have been able to sneak into the hag's hut if it wasn't for Maxine's stealth skills; When I dismissed Karo-Arak's followers as threats, Maxine knew not to trust them without question." Thinking back, Shae could almost laugh about it. It definitely made her smile now that things turned out okay in the end.
Her eyes would scan the Professor's, reflecting his pressing concerns over Maxine. Her expression would soften. "I say this all because I wish it could put your mind at ease. I hear your concerns. I do. Yes, I have taken the role of a caregiver for the group and during my reviews I have no reason to suspect anything. But Snively, you do not need my permission." She'd pause. "Logically I can't deny the possibility of something I can't see, or perceive, existing. I'm no expert, my track record speaks for itself. But so does Maxines." The medic will place a hand on his shoulder. "If it'll put your mind at ease, it is your magic, and your decision to make." Shae will give the Professor's shoulder a squeeze. He needed to make the decision for himself.
Berrus' Check:
Shae will approach Berrus to do his check-up next. She knew he didn't sustain any injuries, but she'd be sure to check in on his water intake for hydration and exhaustion from his gear. "Of course your vote matters." She'd say softly to fill the air of silence. "There could be reason to believe that these ruins could be related to your ancient homeland?" The scholar would ponder out loud as she checked him over. "The statue outside the cave we found Faekin in... The warriors in the catacombs... The hags journal... The burried city..." She'd list things from her memory that she thinks she saw hints of that reminded her of him, or that could be his ancestors. Thinking about his last sentence about not being expected to come back... "But do you have something you want to go back too?"
Running out of reasons to look Berrus over, Shae will move to find Fang...
"Whu- AHHHHHHHHHHH!" "Ahahahaha!"
It would take a few moments for Shae's heart to stop racing. A little red dragonthing just scared the bageezus out of her. At least it was cute. She was secretly hoping she could keep it for herself, only to see it scurry up to Fang. Her eyes would narrow in suspicion that he set it up. She did not like surprises, but, she'll forgive him. This time. Shae will pick herself up off the ground, again, and brush herself off, again.
"Dinner time!" She'll clap her hands together and trot over to grab the cooking supplies. She'd offer to shadow Fang and provide him assistance with cooking, eager to learn any new tricks from his way of life.
Maxine appreciated medical checkup - hag's spell did some number on her and by the evening the pain reminded about itself. But to Shae's question Maxine had to answer "no": "It looks worse than it feels, "she smiled, "though I like the idea of "smart" - I think I will go with that. "My smart look" - sounds almost attractive. Still, I feel almost offended - no changes in anything else. It was truly bad at time back then, sometimes I thought I would not make. But now - nothing special. I mean, magic is magic - you use it, you feel it going though you, of course. And that dead matter manipulation magic is like a new note in a tune - ones you heard it, you feel like it was always there. I think it is something close to rune magic when the sign and "ink" both matter, but need to learn more".
Her eyes suddenly widen: "Oh, almost forgot, speaking of signs - the book! I mean, that "Golem Book". Looked through it - just diagrams, and even them are barely comprehensive. But that's not the point. The thing is - that "golem" clearly is not a construct. I mean, you can not "make" it. Nope. High magic, or close to that. Doubt I ever can do it, but you - a couple advises from Kam and you just might. So, it's yours, actually. Should you want to check it out - it's in that bag, wrapped in cloth."
Fang would be amused at Mushu’s scaring of Shae. A bit uncharacteristic for lizardfolk, which is why he enjoyed being out hunting. But these four here seemed to be a bit more understanding of his oddity among his people.
Moving over to the fire, Fang would begin skinning and field dressing his latest kills. Upon completing that he would toss a few of the scraps up toward his shoulder for Mushu, where he has stayed perched. “Anything interesting happen while I was away?” Mildly curious about anything he might have missed during his hunt. While he takes the time to fashion another pouch, large enough for Mushu, from the skins and some more bone darts.
Seeing Shae approach and ask about cooking Fang would address her curiosity with a rather blunt answer, “We usually eat it raw unless there’s a special ceremony. There are some that like ‘cooking’ their food though. Perhaps you can show me?”
After the cooking and the meal, Fang will volunteer to stand watch for the evening. And before his watch begins, would inspect and clean his equipment to ensure everything is in good working order.
Comforted by Shae's medical assessment that Maxine is okay, the Professor finishes his work for the night and prepares for bed. Still setting up the earthen berm and the alarm spell as is his practice, he finds a quiet place near the fire to rest and prepares to sleep. "The simple fact that Maxine wishes to avoid the location with the powerful undead-empowering artifact is an excellent sign she is not succumbing to some jungle fever or hag's curse that drives her to experiment with the dead," thinks the scholarly gnome, hopeful that the hag's machinations have finally come to an end. Putting the concerns out of his mind, he settles in for the night.
