The two arrows strike with deadly accuracy. The Duchess cries out as the arrows hit vital organs which should have been the end of her. However the magic aura around her fades and quickly heals the fatal blow, only enough to keep the Duchess barely alive. Captain Fowler grabs the Duchess fearing the worse and prepares to move her to another door along with his guards to make an escape. Dammit kill the archer! He shouts. The knight looks back to see the Duchess near death and decides now is not the time to try and take prisoners. Turning on Nadia he makes his three attacks with intent to kill. Nadia manages to duck under the sheild bash but unfortunately fails to avoid the sword as it cuts her arm and chest. The second knight targets Happy, managing to strike him with all his attacks but still unable to knock the druid down. The guards take the Duchess and move towards the western door. The Duchess looks at Happy and he can feel a tugging at his mind. A call to heal the Duchess but the thought is not his own. Realizing the Duchess must being using some kind of mind magic against him he shakes off the feeling and resists the affects.
(@all: Still waiting on the results of the Wis saves(15) vs Sanctuary, but pressing on for now.)
Whether the blade's truly hit, or his magic held strong, Happy's state is dire enough that even the firbolg isn't in such a happy state. Self preservation had begun tugging at the mind, luring it closerto magics best suited for the job in the long term. That all changed hearing the Duchess' call, drawing both gaze and ire. A growl as deep and as feral as a bear precedes its sources making a sharp gesture towards the east.
Within the space he gestured to does arrive the spectral form of a Unicorn. Their body and colors appearing to have been made from the worked wood and fibers in the room, but radiating all the same a purifying aura. "You foolish woman. You've only made all the more plain your nature, devil, in trying to stir my mind. Lady Archer! See her swiftly to the Nine, 'fore she has a chance to try and corrupt even more souls." He requested before placing a hand on his chest. "And by the grace of the earth mother, I will hold my ground yet!" He adds, summoning the magic from both without and within and begin mending his own wounds a great deal.
What bleeds off naturally in the process, the unicorn sucks in a phantom breath, and breaths back out again over Nadia and Happy both.

With the revelation that she had made an attempt to invade the firbolg's mind, there truly was no way this woman was human. The cult must have had something to do with it. They continue to prepare to follow the Duchess out the door. The Knight turns his focus back on Happy as the old soldier moves in the assist. The knight attempts to strike down Happy but finds that he is unable to, amd instead redirects his attack towards Nadia. Once again Nadia is able to avoid the sheild bash but is struck twice by the knights blade.
The second knight manages to push through the mental barrier and strike Happy with his various attacks. Knocking him down with his sheild and then following up with two, albeit weak, stabs with his sword. Injured, the Duchess and her entourage make a break for the door.

Happy, having enough of the old man's shit, gets up cracking his neck. He shoots one last tired look at the night that struck him first, waggles his fingers at him, and then almost without fully looking at the elder, the same hand snatches out like a viper at the old man's neck in almost the same instance another word of power left his lips. Once more, both Happy and Nadia would at the very least benefit from the combined efforts of spirit and druidic song, mending the worst of their hurts.
"Now hear this, young blood. One way or another, you'll either be set free of that creature's control, or from your mortal coil for assisting it." He said if successful, before bodily picking the old man up and leave him hanging in the air, further choking out any ability to weave words. "So, I would suggest you kindly... shut the **** up for a moment. While my friend here deals with your corruptor."

The old soldier slaps away Happys hand and looks at him intently. I don't know what you're talking about boy, but you'll have plenty of chances to explain yourself later. Men, end this now! The old soldier turns to Nadia, who has been single handedly leading the assault against the Duchess with her deadly accuracy. His sword glows with holy light, and he brings it down on Nadia with a righteous fury. Nada is smacked twice in the head with the flat of his blade, luckily managing to dodge under one of the attacks. The smacks feel more like a punishment from an angry dad than someone trying to kill her, but the burn from the magic still leaves a mark. Unfortunately for TB it did not knock the elf unconscious giving her an opportunity to finish the Duchess.

Nadia was hanging on by a thread after those last two hits, feeling blood slowly trickle down from her forehead to her cheek. Had it not been for the fact that she was so close to finishing off the Duchess, she would have backed off and gotten into a better position to kick this guys ass and hopefully bring Zack back from the shadow realm. She remains where she stands, breathing haggard, knowing that she may be unconscious following the next few seconds, but she had a job to do and she aimed to do it.

The guards try to assist her but she soon collapses to the floor lifeless. The guards shake her trying to wake her up to no avail. The knights and old soldier look over to see the Duchess, and look back with a look in their eye that suggests they intend to take revenge. Before the knights can attack however one of the guards screams. Looking over you all can see the Duchess's form start to change, two bat like wings sprout from her back as well as a devilish tail. Her hair color changes to a fiery red and her features change though still resemble an attractive woman. The two elite guard back way from the corpse, clearly caught off guard by the change. What in the nine hells was that! Captain, what do we.. but before he can finish Captai Fowlee bolts out the door and down the hall. The two Knights hold their actions, seemingly ready to attack but now less convinced that they want to do so. They seem to be waiting for the old soldier to issue a command.

In spite of the death glares a great deal of tension leaves Happy's shoulder. Whatever happened next now, Happy was more than just content. He felt confident in all working out in the end, if albeit with a few thorns to navigate going forward. The sight of her transformation -- or more accurately reversion only further cements the feeling. Although in seeing Fowlee flee and the Knights yet still on guard against them, the young Firbolg shakes his head in disapproval before planting a gentle hand on Nadia's shoulder.
"Vie." He utters softly before light green light seeps into Nadia like roots, draining lingering divine energy disrupting her wounds as they are knit together. "Now I'm a simple being, so I can only confer this simply... That captain of yours? Not a good man. His running away? Not good for anyone, especially you all, now that the creature's been outed. So, free my friend, and let's be after him for things worsen."

We've been completely fooled dammit! Men, stay here, no one leaves the room. I'm going after the captain. And don't let any of the other guards or house staff in here either until we know what's going on. The older soldier makes the for door and glares angrily at the two elite guard members but they seem just as shocked as everyone else. It doesn't seem like he is ready to release Zack just yet however.

Nadia finally breathes after the last arrow hits its mark, effectively ending the duchesses life as they were sent there to do. She watches with slight smugness at the corpses transformation, feeling good knowing that they were right in the regard of her being non-human, much to the guards dismay. When the captain makes his escape, she quickly marks him. With Happy's healing working its magic, she gives the druid a quick thank you, then shouts after the older man.
"You want to know what's going on? Then let me help you catch him!" She tails after him to a point, not wanting to aggress the guards in some way in case her persuading didn't do the trick. "You saw what I can do, and I can track him relatively easily. I won't kill him, but his kneecaps may not be the same after I get a shot on him."
The old soldier reluctantly agrees, saying loudly so the other hear Fine, follow me and if you see him try to slow him down! (was gonna post momore the chase but I figured mehm wants to get in on this so I'll wait.)
Uncertain of whether the old soldier's words included himself or the release of Zack, Happy opts to slip one of his more potent berries down the gullet and quietly wait for clarification. Although the moment it fails to come, or Nadia looks to him worriedly, he'll just wave her on the event he had not been included, intending to wait on Zack's return.
So, in the event of the man's return, Happy's nearby at least, ready to try and explain things with a, "Duchess' dead. Turned out to be demoness. Captain suspected to have a hand in all of it. Nadia pursuing'em now. I should be able to catch up. But uh-" Then he glances over to any lingering guard. Unless they too were to run off in pursuit.
In the event he was to go along, but Zack yet remained banished, he would trust the man to act calm or guards explain things in Happy's and Nadia's absence. In the meantime, he would turn into an horned rabbit and take off after Nadia, fully intending on keeping pace until an idea comes to mind on where the man intended to flee to.
In either case, assuming the group's special observer had not incapacitated Rillex to slip out now the job was done, Happy calls out to the Tressym with the intent of having it either fly along behind the group(as a whole), or wait for Zack's return to help try and calm the man down.
(Consuming a level 3 berry in any event from previous night, restoring 6 HP to Happy.)
Happy you are pretty sure the soldier only meant Nadia as they run off. As you call for Rillex and wait you hear a fait popping sound from where Zack had been. The fighter appears in the room suddenly. The guards just look at him, still more or less confused on what was happening.
Zack when you return you see the guards seem confused, the Duchess is no where to be found as are Nadia and the old soldier. There's a demonic looking corpse on the ground and Happy tries to explain everything to you as quickly as he can.

Nadia does as told and follows behind the older man, doing her best to keep up. Though she does need to take a moment to kneel down and see if she could spot any footprints left behind by the captain, using her elven eyes.

Uncertain of whether the old soldier's words included himself or the release of Zack, Happy opts to slip one of his more potent berries down the gullet and quietly wait for clarification. Although the moment it fails to come, or Nadia looks to him worriedly, he'll just wave her on the event he had not been included, intending to wait on Zack's return.
So, in the event of the man's return, Happy's nearby at least, ready to try and explain things with a, "Duchess' dead. Turned out to be demoness. Captain suspected to have a hand in all of it. Nadia pursuing'em now. I should be able to catch up. But uh-" Then he glances over to any lingering guard. Unless they too were to run off in pursuit.
In the event he was to go along, but Zack yet remained banished, he would trust the man to act calm or guards explain things in Happy's and Nadia's absence. In the meantime, he would turn into an horned rabbit and take off after Nadia, fully intending on keeping pace until an idea comes to mind on where the man intended to flee to.
In either case, assuming the group's special observer had not incapacitated Rillex to slip out now the job was done, Happy calls out to the Tressym with the intent of having it either fly along behind the group(as a whole), or wait for Zack's return to help try and calm the man down.

Happy you are pretty sure the soldier only meant Nadia as they run off. As you call for Rillex and wait you hear a fait popping sound from where Zack had been. The fighter appears in the room suddenly. The guards just look at him, still more or less confused on what was happening.
Zack when you return you see the guards seem confused, the Duchess is no where to be found as are Nadia and the old soldier. There's a demonic looking corpse on the ground and Happy tries to explain everything to you as quickly as he can.
Zack appears, and does nothing as happy explains.

Nadia does as told and follows behind the older man, doing her best to keep up. Though she does need to take a moment to kneel down and see if she could spot any footprints left behind by the captain, using her elven eyes.
