If Narz can hear Torsus Power Word Shout from the fields once he's gone, the goblinoid just grimaces before simply looking to the others. And upon hearing their intentions, Narz nods curtly, and still leaves Spaz to whoever followed up the lead he mentioned last. If none do, then he settles for still having spaz stick with Aleyd. In the meantime, he opts to start his search at the library at the Abbey. Although before doing so, he is sure to ask the Abbot where he might find it.

While she might not have been the best to speak to him, she thought it would be good practice at least. "I'll go ahead and check on Shalvus for you, then. See if I could possibly ease any of his nerves." She gives the abbot a curt bow before departing in the direction of the animal pens.
On the way though, she is shaken from her mind at Torsus' booming voice. With a breath to refocus herself, she looks over to Spaz. "That tortle is an odd one isn't he?"The monk shakes her head with a small smile on her lips and continues on her way.

The Abbot directs you back though the hall you just came and to the nearest stairs. He then says to simply follow the upstairs hall to the northeast section of the Abbey. Following said directions its not long until you find the Library. Its a rather small room but its absolutely jam packed with books, so much so in fact that there are stacks of books placed haphazardly in the corners of the rooms due to a lack of shelf space. To a scholar such as yourself its a mix of exciting for a thensheer variety of volumes and annoying for a total lack of any sort of real organization as far as you can tell. You wouldn't be alone in your frustration as you hear a woman muttering curses to herself as she peruses the shelves. Shes the only other person here right now and you recognize her from the Inn. Shes an older looking woman wearing expensive looking clothing with salt and pepper hair. Shes currently adjusting her glasses to get a better look at one of the books in front of her before grunting How they find anything in this mess simply boggles the mind.
Aeyd:
Aeyd, you leave the Abbey and head back to town, leaving Claire and Rollo to their own objectives. You head to the nearest animal pens and ask one of the workers where you might find Shalvus. You are directed towards one of the sheep pens where you find him tending to the animals while they graze. Shalvus is a young man dressed in simple leathers and heavy furs. He has a dark complexion and dark dreads tied into a bun. When he realizes you are there for him he wanders over to the fence surrounding the field and lays his shepards crook along it. You are looking for me?
Rollo:
You make your way back to the inn where you find Miros back behind the bar. Its hard to tell underneath all the hair but youncan see his eyes are puffy and red from crying still it seems he's gathered his senses enough to go back to tending his buisness. The goblins seem to be gone and in their place several workers have filled up the inn to get their lunch. Several servers walk back and forth from the seats and to the kitchen while Miros is handling drinks. When he sees you enter he gives you a nod but goes back to work until the subject of work comes up. Ah So Ellardin finally remembered to send me some help. Good because I was about make the delivery myself but I really shouldn't leave the Inn. Between you and me my staff would somehow manage to burn the place down in minuets if I left them alone. Head round back and you'll find a wagon and a donkey ready to go. Just bring them up towards the brewery over yonder. Should be 6 barrels of the good stuff ready to be loaded, which you'll have to do by yourself mind you. Once it's loaded just bring it back here, couldn't be simpler. Just uh, if the Captain of the guard gives you any trouble let me know. Last time I sent my staff for this run the man scared them witless and I was down two barrels. I'm hoping he takes one look at you and thinks better of it this time around.
Torsus:
The halfling looks confused for a moment before seeming to understand and nodding. Ah I see. The Abbot sent you did he? Why should the Abbot care where I take my walks? Inspiration comes from all sorts of places you know. For example right now! The smell of hops inspires me to sing a song about the wonderful brewery perhaps and the wonderful work they do there. It also makes me want to drink. At night I prefer the walks along the wall because of the beautiful view and relative peacefulness. I will grant you that those walks usually carried less a risk of being struck by a stay boulder by an angry giant. Oh..well now that I've said that outloud...maybe I could just stick to walking the fields. Yes thats probably best. But I can assure you the last several nights I've walked the wall its been exceedingly quiet. I had been walking along the north and north east sections of the wall those nights.
Claire:
You head to the eastern wall as directed by the Abbot. The nearest tower has a few guards manning it but they don't impede your ability to access the wall. Climbing up and inquiring Zi's location they direct you south along the wall. Heading that way you notice that there really aren't many people up here. A small garrison of guards was at the tower but you don't notice anyone along it besides Zi in the distance. You eventually catch up to her and she turns to look as you approach. Is there a reason you're following me? You were at the Abbey just now right?
Rollo nods and then grins. "I always find a little bit of enjoyment in putting overly stuffy guards in their place." He heads out back and hefts the barrels into the cart, thinking back to days of doing something similar with Brother John at the monastery. He then spends the time to give himself the ability to speak to animals again and talks to the horse, telling it where they need to go and promising it the job should be simple.

Torsus can't help but laugh a slow, throaty laugh Heh, hah heh asthe halfling speaks of his intentions and his future plans to cease as the tortle shakes his head a bit as he puts his hands behind his back, the fingers just barely able to lace together and approximate his intended position as he looked up to the wonderful sky. Personally, i don't care whether you do or not. The abbot told me to tell you, and I did. If you don't comply I'll simply tell him that you have the will to do what you wish. But yes, random boulders tend to be pesky things when they come flying at you. But peaceful you say? Hrmmm.... Torsus lets out a small yawn as apparently he had been forgetting to breathe properly.
Well, while I am glad you are safe, I am sad to hear that you've seen nothing. I was hoping perhaps you had spotted something. Regardless. It is what it is in the end hmm? Well, here's for your time.
Torsus pats the halfling on the back I have given you the ability to fly. Temporarily of course. You have about ten minutes to use it fully. I'd suggest landing in about five, just to be safe. But perhaps that will only add to your inspiration, friend.
Claire takes a moment to catch her breath, setting a hand against the ramparts. "Not 'following'... you. Just... catching... up... heh." Claire breathes in deeply through her nose. "We overheard the tail end of your conversation. I wanted to know what kind of concerns you have about the defenses. My group and I came here to help, but it sounded like the Abbot was pretty dismissive. I'd rather hear what you have to say."
Narz is for at least the first few bits sidetracked by all the books. While the hobgoblins of his home weren't the type to neglect such things in its entirety, that which he had access to almost paled comparison to the amount jam packed in so small a room. And even then, most of it was dedicated to the practical, and in some cases altered to avoid incidental contamination via enemy propoganda being mixed in the bunch. Although the chaotic-ness irked a nerve for the more orderly goblinoid, even he couldn't help salivate at the sight. 'If only there was time' He thought before his brain finally caught up on the sounds in the room. Specifically, that of the woman cursing.
"Assuming that question was meant for me, then I would assume, with respect to your people's sensibilities, it is a form of organized chaos. Thus ensuring that no spies or enemies could undermine their acquistions via the literary method." Narz said casually while on approach to the woman, and looking about the room. Although any close inspection would see even then he kept her always within the corner of his eyes. "But uh, that's just my assumption of course. And forgive me for not introducing myself. The name is Narz... And you must be Madam Naxane that the Abbot here mentioned I seek out and offer my assistance, if you should be of need of it."

I am here as per Abbot Elladrin Darovik wanting to see how you were doing."Had he taken her hand, she would give him a firm handshake with a comforting smile before bringing her hand back to her side. "The Abbot is quite worried about you, actually. Says that you have been taking walks around the walls at night, and he's assuming that the last giant attack might have shaken you a bit." The corners of her lips turn downward in a frown.

With the cart loaded and the Donkey spoken to about the job there's very little you have to do for the trip. The donkey clearly has done this trip before and while you still have the ability to speak to it it assures you it knows the way. The donkey however is getting on in age and doesn't seem to be in a rush so you're given some time to relax while the donkey does most of the work until finally you arrive. The Brewery is a stately two story manse located in close proximity to the springs. In the front yard of the brewery are several long houses that appear to house the multitude of workers here as well as a large warehouse and a tall cylindrical tower which rises from the back of the brewery. A sign out front of the brewery reads "Goldencup Brewery." When you arrive a few of the workers stop you and direct you to the warehouse as the brewery is closed to those who don't work there. You follow your guide who leads you to the back of the warehouse. A few workers take the empty casks from the wagon and you are directed to take from a set of six casks of Goldencup beer that have been set aside for the Inn.
The casks are heavy and cumbersome but they are no match for you. What might have needed two people to lift and secure in the cart you can do all by yourself with ease. As you're loading the last of the casks onto the cart you hear the heavy footfalls of a man in heavy armor approach you from around the corner. Ah, I see the Yeti has finally sent someone to collect his order. Took him long enough. A tall and muscular half orc rounds the corner and stares greedily at the casks before noticing you seemingly for the first time. He scratches one of his tusks, a look of confusion clear upon his face. He spits a large glob of spit onto the ground before saying You're not one of Miros's staff. In fact I don't recall seeing your face around here at all. You wouldn't happen to be a thief would ya?
Torsus:
Oren waves off the comment about him not listening to the Abbot dismissively and says No no, you can tell the Abbot he need not worry about me. I'll keep my walks to the fields until the threat of giants is truly passed. Inspiration is fine and all but there's plenty to be had here without the risk of being attacked by giants in the night.
When you cast fly on him the halfling looks a little confused and taken aback at someone casting a spell at him, at least at first until you explain and he realizes he can now hover above the ground. Oh my haha. This is...odd...how do you...ah! No wait I think I got it! Thanks friend! I'll give this a whirl while it lasts! Oh don't forget to come see me at the inn tonight if you enjoy music and song I'll be able to repay you in full! Oren flys off in the direction of the spring laughing all the while. Its pretty obvious he's not the best at flying but at this point one can only hope he figures out to land on his own.
You walk away with the knowledge that all is quiet on the northern front. Your job is complete, if there's anything you wish to do while waiting for the others feel free or you can simply meet them at the inn when everyone is finished.
Claire:
Zi huffs at the mention if the Abbot before sighing and saying I see. We'll, the Abbot does have the best intentions but the old man is blind to the fact that his Captain of the Guard is an incompetent fool. They've had plenty of warnings about the Giants since the first attack yet nothing has changed. We simply don't have enough guards on the walls and the ones who are on the walls aren't always taking their duty seriously. Thus I'm here patrolling myself, since it seems I'm the only one I can trust to do it right. But unfortunately I'm only one woman and I might miss something. Frankly I could use a few extra set of eyes. If you'd be willing to help that would go a long way to figuring out what needs to be done to help protect the settlement beyond simply just hiring more guards which would also be very helpful.
Narz:
The woman shakes her head and says Unless a spy is looking for religious texts or the local farmers almanac I'm afraid they would be seriously disappointed. I'm afraid all this is just a symptom of lazy priests who couldn't be bothered to put a book back where they found it. Ah there we are. She pulls a book off the shelf and brings it over to the table before setting it down. You get a glimpse of the title A Natural History of Dragons By Marie Brennan.
But I apologize, I should introduce myself as well. I am Madame Naxane Drathkala, Wizard and member in good standing of the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors of Waterdeep and current liason of that most spectacular city and this 'charming' backwater. So, the Abbot asked you to assist me did he? I'm not quite sure with what exactly he plans for you to help me. No offense, but I'm interested in more scholarly pursuits. I'm sure you could teach the guards a thing or two about fighting giants but I'm looking for grander solutions to more than just this farms woes dear.
Aeyd:
Shalvus looks a little surprised and says The Abbot noticed that did he? Guess he's more observant that I thought. But I really only go out to check on the animals at night and then I like to clear my head with a walk. Shalvus scratches the back of his head and sighs before saying Though I suppose he's not entirely wrong. Guess tensions have been running high. You sure you don't mind if I vent a little? Well, okay. Truth is I got some bad news about a friend of mine. She had been in Nightstone doing research when the Giants attacked. A few weeks ago I got word that the town had been attacked and that my friend Kella died around the same time. Guess its been weighing on my mind pretty heavily these past few weeks. I didn't exactly sign up to get crushed by giants ya know? But I can't just up and leave either. Shalvus sighs and says Just starting to feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Checking on the animals at night and getting some fresh air has been helping a little.

As Shalvus spoke, Aeyd would lean against the fence and listen.

Near the end of his piece, there's a soft look on her visage. "Thank you for sharing that with me, and letting me be your ear to vent off to." She gives her a respectful nod of the head. "It's unfortunate that the Abbot couldn't be here himself, but he's been awful busy. Though, I'm sure you're aware of that..."She frowns a bit. "And I... I'm sorry for your loss, Shalvus. I know that feeling all too well..."Her frown grows at the thought of the loss of her friends on the attack on her temple. "I'm sure Kella was a wonderful person. It's a shame her life got taken away from her so soon... While I am glad that you've been finding a way to clear your mind and ease your nerves..."Her eyes go to the sky. "It's a bit dangerous to be out walking alone at night, especially now more than ever. Have you considered trying to do something else to get your mind off things? Like... yoga? I could possibly help you with that, if you'd like." She offers gently.

Rollo raises an eyebrow. "If I were a thief would I have brought a cart, asked directions, and have come here in broad daylight? None of that seems like thief activities. If we can come back to the Abbot with some specific suggestions about the security, he may be more apt to listen. That aside, you seem very dissatisfied with the Captain... is there something specific he's doing that worries you, or is just a general lack of vagilence? ... viligen... vigilance. Ahem."

"Mulkrip" -Hobgoblin Barbarian, Path of the Totem Warrior -Libertalia
The hobgoblin raised a brow at the book, and was but moments away from searching the mind for any records regarding Marie Brennan. Better sensibilities however demanded he promptly dismiss such curiosities upon hearing the beginnings of an introduction. They also keep him from letting a mite touch of disappointment and anger color his words, as the woman's lack of concern despite the current crisis had nearly gotten to him. He still takes a breath, straightens his robes, and with the closest thing the hobgoblin could muster to a half-smile finally spoke up again.
"Well with all due respect to the guards, my having personal experience dealing with a variety of giant and giant kin would certainly benefit them, eh? However, not all the best solutions are so straight forward. Nor is it easy to seek out grander solutions alone. So, at least while time permits, and if you would yet like assistance, I am more than willing to aid in the pursuit of these grander solutions you speak of upon.. further elaboration. I myself am something of an arcane practitioner and scholar, as well as someone knowledgeable of the draconic tongue, if translation in that arena of vital importance." He offered calmly.

Aeyd thanks the worker for their directions to where Shalvus would be, and perks up in delight when she successfully locates him. "Yes, I am actually," The monk extends a hand. "My name is Aeyd. I am here as per Abbot Elladrin Darovik wanting to see how you were doing." Had he taken her hand, she would give him a firm handshake with a comforting smile before bringing her hand back to her side. "The Abbot is quite worried about you, actually. Says that you have been taking walks around the walls at night, and he's assuming that the last giant attack might have shaken you a bit." The corners of her lips turn downward in a frown.
"I was hoping I could help you in some way. Perhaps be an ear you could vent off to or... maybe even ease your nerves, if you would give me the time."

(or maybe my Passive Insight (16) if possible could be used!)
Near the end of his piece, there's a soft look on her visage. "Thank you for sharing that with me, and letting me be your ear to vent off to." She gives her a respectful nod of the head. "It's unfortunate that the Abbot couldn't be here himself, but he's been awful busy. Though, I'm sure you're aware of that..." She frowns a bit. "And I... I'm sorry for your loss, Shalvus. I know that feeling all too well..." Her frown grows at the thought of the loss of her friends on the attack on her temple. "I'm sure Kella was a wonderful person. It's a shame her life got taken away from her so soon... While I am glad that you've been finding a way to clear your mind and ease your nerves..." Her eyes go to the sky.

And if you don't believe me you're welcome to ask the Yeti yourself. I've got time. I'm just waiting for the next giant attack anyways."
Gronk in Bastion, Kingdom of Medrin Elixisys in Talaveroth (Team 2) Uthal in Lost Continent of Theviranne
Claire nods. "I'll help you do some patrolling then, and we'll see if there's any holes in the current defense. If we can come back to the Abbot with some specific suggestions about the security, he may be more apt to listen. That aside, you seem very dissatisfied with the Captain... is there something specific he's doing that worries you, or is just a general lack of vagilence? ... viligen... vigilance. Ahem."
