He was listening intently to every little word and tone, trying to see if he detected any degree of being upset could be heard throughout it. He maintains his gaze on the ground for several more moments, assisting in flattening out the ground as much as he could. Finally responding to what all she said. I get it. I just, wanted to be sure you knew that just cause I don't always say somehtin' right away, that doesn't mean I wont. He pauses, to see if she gets what he's on about. Waiting until she either replies or if she doesn't he clarifies with I may not know much about magic or the weave or any other non.... physical aspect of life. But I do know there are things that can control my mind, or .. look like me, or whatever. You get what I'm getting at. So... if ever you're in doubt that I'm me, or I ever tell you to leave... ask me "What is ever silent?" you get it? he cleared his throat, to actually clear his throat before sighing a bit.
Starting to address the 'sappy' portion. And he tenses for a moment as she mentions that something had been happening to her at that time and that.. a bit of panic appearing then fading in realization.. I.. I'm sorry, I must not have noticed because... of something, I don't know how I could have missed it, but... I'm glad it helped you through it, and I'm glad.. you're still here now. it was then that the unintended words spilt out, and his eyes met with hers. Heh, I suppose that was the imp in the room. his face was showing a bit more confidence now, as he finally said Well your boyfriend will talk to you more about this when we're winding down for the night if we find ourselves in the same place. his tone didn't indicate any lustful intentions. As for Nadaar.... yeah.. I suppose your right. And probably the sooner the better.. so right after dinner. I promise. As for my bath, I wont be taking off my armor, i'm just going to soak and wash off any... blood and grime and.. other. Either way, I'll see you at the cart one way or another, and then we'll go have some food.
It was clear he wanted to kiss her again right then, softly, but.. considering his crusty, bloody self, he figured later would be better, and perhaps aging the wine would make it better. Heading off to the stream to rinse himself into a more.. appropriate state before eventually heading to the cart.
Nadia couldn't help but tilt her head to the side in question at what he was talking about when he mentions a forests whisper, only for her lips for form an 'o' shape when he explains on it further soon after. She gives him a nod of understanding, and given the room to reply, she says, "Yeah, I get it now. Thank you. Definitely a good idea for our future endeavors."
At the notice of his sudden panic, Nadia straightens herself up to say something in follow up, for him to not further worry or apologize, but she is too late to catch him, as she kept running her mouth and said something she would very quickly want to retract. However, his words in response do give her some sort of relief, even getting her to crack a smile, though her cheeks were still burning in embarrassment.
She smile still remains as he agrees to tell Sarah the truth about Nadaar, and when he says he'll be taking a quick dip she nods. "Sure. Just... watch out, okay? Just in case. You never know what's out there nowadays." When he assures her he'll do so, she watches him off briefly before turning and taking the shovels off the tree to begin to head way to the cart.
From a distance, she's able to make out a familiar figure, but it was the second larger one that gets her to pick up pace in a slight panic. Who else would be there aside from Angar? Did someone catch him? The questions kept coming in the closer she got, now able to make out some features of the being, and... it didn't seem as if they were at all hostile towards the death whisperer. "Uh, hey!" Nadia calls out in greeting to get their attention. "Um..." She looks up to the masked man (suddenly very aware of just how tiny she is) and decides to greet herself as to not be rude. "Hi. I'm... Nadia... and you are... a friend of Angar? ... Maybe?"
Happy comes out of putting the finishing touches on Orvik's bindings, bit and all. In fact, he the giant had just finished whispering and petting the draft horse before turning around to see Zack and Nadia. "Mn. A pleasure to meet you Nadia, for the second time." He said with a bit of mirth to his voice. "Sorry I could not introduce myself properly the last time. But given the circumstances, I thought it best to remain as I was. You know, to ensure we arrived in town sooner than later."
It is at that point he walks up to the duo and offers them each a hand in turn. "Folk call me Happy. Chauntae Faithful, and Emerald Enclave associate in good standing, for those in the know of them guardians of the balance." He explained with a chirp ending his statement. Those that do accept the handshake feel a like rush of refreshment sweep through their being, easing if not removing the aches left behind by the cave dive.
For Nadia(if offered hand accepted): 16.
For Zack(Same Deal): 13.
"You lot have been threw quite the ringer, as Rillex told me here. Losing a companion... it ain't easy." He admits solemnly, and Rillex, from atop the giant's shoulder, bows his head. "Now, I originally had a request for ya'll. But, that can wait a night. Tonight, how bout we head back to that tavern. The nice lady, uh, Sarah? Yeah, I think that's the... Sorry, my people don't use name, so it sometimes a bit combobulated. But, she made a pretty mean lunch the last I was here, so I figured the same might be for supper. And ya'll could do with a good one tonight I figure to help chase away them bad vibes that's been haunting ya... at least fer one evening."

Nadia can't help but squint her eyes while the giant speaks, trying her best to recall the first time she had ever met him. Surely she would remember meeting someone as big as he, especially with a color pallet as unique as his, but the mask hid any other notable features aside his eyes (sort of). It wasn't until she remembered a key sentence at the end of his initial statement that it really clicked. "You're the horse..." She confirmed, a bit dumbfounded and embarrassed that it took as long as it did for it to process. "Wow, I feel silly for not getting that sooner, but, ah... Nice to meet you, Happy." The ranger does accept the handshake, and when she pulls away feeling much better, she takes a look to her hand briefly before looking up to him with a small smile and a, "Thank you."
However, the smile fades when he speaks of their loss, her heart feeling heavy once again as she takes a quick glance at the cart. "Yeah... It really isn't... But, um..." She shakes herself out of her thoughts. "We were going to head there after checking up on Angar. We already have prior arrangements at the tavern with Zack's dad... The more the merrier I say, but..." She looks over to Angar sheepishly. "I don't know how he'd feel with you at the table, unfortunately..."
Zack washed off in the stream as much as he could, getting any grime he could reach cleaned off until he was, aside from scars, bruises, and scabs, clean. Taking a full dip just once, to hopefully wring out any lingering scents. Finally, getting up and picking up his sword, reattaching it to his specialized back holster, and heading back to the tree to pick up the shovels.. which.. were no longer there, and for a moment, he feared his dad might have came back and... but.. maybe Nadia had taken them? he thought to himself, and with a sigh, figured he might find out one way or another. So... making a quick jog back to the cart.
Happy cants his head to the side. But after a few meows and some purring in his ears from Rillex, his head straightens with an "ah" and a solemn nod. "May the story you tell then aid in that, or... aid further in mending bridges if told in all truth. And if that's not enough, wellll... he aughta know better than to raise a fuss with a hero following so immediate a victory in the land's favor. Especially considering the stakes at hand." Happy admits. "Either way, things aughta be fine for a night at least. 'cause I imagine come tomorrow, Angar here will be taking his leave soon I take it. What with needing to get these back." He thumbs the tarped over bodies.
"Speaking of, were is that Zack fella an--" He looks past Nadia in at least the rough direction he can hear Zack running from, if not the man just coming into sight. "Ah, there he is, I think."

Angar nods in agreement as he finishes securing the tarp to the cart. Yes Yorick and I will be leaving first thing in the morning. The sooner the dead can be laid back to rest the better.
Zack finally made it almost to the cart, several more running, wet steps bringing him there. The whole time his eyes had been on the gargantuan man but seeing as everyone seemed to be talking to him, Zack let down his guard, mostly. Trudging up he waves to everyone, having gotten most of the grime off himself, though he was sure there were a few spots on his back where he couldn't reach that may have gone uncleaned. Agree'd Angar. So who's the big guy?
As Happy speaks his piece, Nadia goes ahead to set the shovels against the cart for the time being, seeing as they may be waiting for Zack for a bit longer. She looks over to Angar when he confirms of his leave in the early morning, her lips parting to question him, but gets ultimately distracted when Happy points out Zack's arrival.
With his inquiry, Nadia pipes up. "This is Happy," Nadia introduces, gesturing towards the masked giant, her eyes going from him to Zack. "The, uh, horse that helped us pull the cart."
Zack lights his glove to see better, and after taking a better look at the man, seeing the similarity in coloring to the horse he goes Huh... You must be one of those uh.... the whatchamacallits, the forest mages. Forgive me, I'm not all too familiar with magic as a whole. I just know it either heals you, or hurts you, or prevents one or the other. Regardless, Thanks for the help. Would have been very slow going if I had to pull it. he would say, the light likely accentuating the exhaustion in his eyes, as they had partially sunken in, and just below them was darkened.
I don't believe anyone will come this way at this hour.. most likely everyone's either eating dinner or sleeping right now. So.. I say we get our bellies full, and rest. And Angar, I'll smooth things over with Pops if it comes to it. So Lets refill...
his head 'shoving' in the direction of the tavern.
Although impossible to see in his face, the feeling of being smiled at radiates from Happy's being at the forest mages comment. Off as the description was, it always lit up his spirit to hear the many variant perspectives folk had when it came to the calling. "Yer welcome, young'n. Though in fairness, anyone in my shoes would've done the same. In fact, if I could've been there sooner..." He trailed off there, rubbing the back of his neck then shook his head to the sides.
"Well, it is what it is. Here's hope'n that nice tavern lady don't mind us stashing the wagon here somewhere nearby for the evening.... Oh, and in the morning, Zack? I got somethin' I'd like to discuss with you and Nadia here. So, if'n you think you'd be up for it then...." He lets the words hang there, allowing for Zack to answer in his own time. Even if that own time happen to be the day of. Thoughtlessly, he gently pats him on the shoulder before turning to direct Orvik on to the tavern. A friendly pat that carried with it a bit of magic to at least ease some of stress and pain from his shoulders.

Zack shakes his head. Never waste your worries on shoulda coulda wouldas. he says, waiving a hand to dismiss the mans concerns before putting his hands on his waist to look into the town. Only worry about what you can control. It's fine to feel bad but don't let it overwhelm ya. His gaze was focused towards town as the man continued. His mind racing just a bit as to what he was going to tell Sarah exactly when he heard part of what the man was suggesting, and his gaze fell onto him again Uh.. I wouldn't suggest that.. even if Godrick or Sarah are fine with it... someone is like to catch wind of the.. smell and come to investigate, only to discover we don't have rotting grains.... but I'll leave that decision up to Angar. As it does seem most of the town, aside from myself, my pops and i think Sarah who were OK with him at first. So, what say you Angar?
Angar nods in agreement saying I shall join you if you think you can smooth things over. I'd like to apologize to your father. A good meal would also go a long way. I'm sure we can leave the cart for a little while, but I won't stick around the inn too long.Unless anyone had anything more to say or do Amgar would prepare to head to the Inn.
Nadia doesn't hide the sour expression on her face when Happy makes the suggestion in seeing if Sarah and her father would approve of them hiding the cart nearby, even if she knew the masked giant meant well by it. Thankfully, Zack had already pointed out the flaw in the suggestion, then Angar saying to leave it for a little bit would be fine got her to relax a little bit. "If anything, we could always move it into the brush and hide it better with some foliage... But if Angar says it's okay." She gives a shrug.
"And I'm sure he can," Nadia assures, confident in Zack's persuasion abilities. "I'll be there to back him up too, if need be!" She gives a small smile over to the fighter before following beside the death whisperer on the way to the tavern (had there not been any additional conversation). After a few minutes, she decides to finally ask him what she had wanted to prior to getting distracted. "Hey, Angar, when you're done with returning the bodies, are you going to try and meet back up with us in Daggerford? To learn more about who wanted that illness created and why?"
Amgar thinks on the question and moment before whispering something to Yoric and then appearing to listen intently. Hmm, it would seem not lady Nadia. I'll trust that particular evil to you. I have some other buisness back south that I have put off for too long given this current investigation. With the disease notes with me, I can either attempt to find a cure or simply destroy them. Either way the threat it poses is gone. I'm sure whatever reason they had for making it in the first place is quite dastardly, but I'll have to leave that problem in your hands I'm afraid.
Unless anyone continued the conversation the party shortly arrived at the inn. Inside Sarah is serving drinks to a few locals. Zacks dad is sitting at a table with a drink himself. When Sarah first catches a glimpse of the party she waves excitedly. Nadia, Zack! Your father said you were back already. Meals almost ready, take a seat. As she looks to see Angar and Happy her eyes dart to and fro, looking for any sign of the missing dragonborn. When its obvious he wasn't just outside she asks a bit nervously. Where's Nadaar? Is he not with you?
Apart from perking up at the duo's possible goal, Happy says nothing on their intention. It is quietly noted however for discussion later down the line.
At hearing Nadaar's name Rillex body sags somewhat. Happy, on the other hand, scratched his head in confusion. As that was one part of the story Rillex, nor anyone else, had quite explained to him. But sensing the cat's sadness, he does eventually pull him into his arms once he could rest his staff against a chair, and gently pets the poor thing. "Why hello again, Ms. Sarah. As somewhat previously promised, I have retrieved them for dinner. Though, judging by your question... well..." He just looks awkwardly back to Nadia and Zack, uncertain of how or if even he should be the one to break any news with his limited understanding.

Zack, feeling exhausted still as he hasn't had any time to rest in the slightest, even sitting on the cart was cumbersome, remained silent through the remaining exchanges, just focusing on his breathing. And when it seemed like everyone had more or less came to an agreement, he nodded, helping pull the cart a little farther from town, and assisting with getting it into camo-mode, before finally proceeding to the inn. Yeah, don't worry too much about it Angar... For the same reason I stayed back there, I'll be dealing with this 'boss' too.
later
He was clearly starving, but lacked the energy to express it. And his face would look somewhat gaunt when walking in. But he offered a smile to his dad when he saw him. Eyes lingering for a moment longer than they should before Sarah finally took notice, drawing his attention away, and his smile faded into neutrality. Aye... We're back, a bit worse for wear than we expected. But we're back. And I'm just going to be blunt. I'm sorry Sarah, but Nadaar won't be coming back. he cleared his throat as he took a few steps closer, to make sure Sarah didn't mistake his comments as a cruel joke. We fought a thing that had been responsible for the diseases passing through in the past. And though we managed to kill it, Nadaar jumped in front of some kind of acid-magic, to keep it from hitting anyone else, and unfortunately, it overpowered him. But thanks to his sacrifice, we were able to finish the bastard off after the fact. We all barely survived. And chances are, we wouldn't have even came back if not for him. even through his exhaustion, he kept a straight face, imparting that there was no dark humor, or ill intent behind his words. Sorry for your loss, Sarah.
Nadia finds herself slightly disappointed in Angar's answer, but she doesn't let it show on her face. Instead, she merely nods in understanding and passes him a small smile following after what Zack had proclaimed. "Yeah... We'll take good care of 'em so we don't have something like this happen ever again."
The ranger tries her best to not express just how exhausted she was when they entered the tavern, mustering up enough strength to give Zack's father a wave in greeting before her attention is diverted to Sarah. At the question, her eyes divert to the floor and she can't help but let a frown appear on her lips as her arms go to hold herself once more, for comforts sake. Before Zack fully went into giving her the news, Nadia silently moves towards the table where his father was, beckoning Happy to follow her to let Sarah have some space to process the news she was going to be given. Whether he joins her or not, she doesn't press the issue, having been too tired to.
Despite the aches and pains she felt settling in, she's able to give Zack's father a gentle smile. "Good evening, mister Fair. I hope we didn't make you wait too long." She slides into the seat across from him (though, had there been not enough seats for both Zack and Happy, she would take one from an unoccupied table for them before sitting down), her legs glad to finally get some rest after today's events. "Thank you for letting us use the shovels. You'll find them where they normally are in the morning, I promise."
Had the masked giant followed her, she would gesture over to him. "And before I forget; this is Happy. I hope you don't mind if he joins us tonight. He had helped us when we were in a pinch so... what better way to thank him than a filling dinner?" The ranger forces a smile, but it fades sooner than it appears as she moves onto say, "Also... before you ask, Nadaar won't be joining us tonight... He, um... " Her voice trails off as the memory of the dragonborn jumping in front of the spell replays, it still fresh in her mind. "S-saved us." She's unable to stop her voice from cracking, but she hopes that his father is able to understand without asking too much more on the matter.
Sarah stands there in disbelief for many moments before she tries to speak but finds her words fail her. She stifles back tears and manages to force out a meek I see Before stepping out back to the kitchen. Zacks father meanwhile just nods to Nadia and quietly says I'm sorry for your loss. Th...that must have been difficult. But you say you stopped whatever it was you were fighting?
A few moments later Godrick comes out of the kitchen with the meala amd places them down on the table, giving the one planned for Nadaar to Happy, a hearty meals of roasted beef, vegetables mashed potatoes and gravy. If asked about Sarah he simply says She needs a few moments to her self me thinks. Is there anything else I can get you?
"Y-yeah," Nadia croaks out, taking a second to swallow down the knot that had been building up in her throat. "Yeah... For the most part. There's more layers to it though, unfortunately... more bad people involved... We'll seek them out soon enough." There is clear vexation in her voice within the last of her words. Just who in their right mind would want an illness like this created? If it hadn't been for them then Nadaar would have still been here! They wouldn't have gone face to face with that thing they hired to make the damned sickness! They would have been fine!
Her hands are at her lap, balling into fists the more she thinks on it, but they loosen grip when she sees Godrick emerge from the kitchen with their meals, briefly noting that Sarah had retreated back there herself. She can't help the apologetic look forming on her face, even looking down at the food placed in front of her. As delicious as it looked, her appetite was shot with everything going on in her head. If anything, she felt numb.
She lets the other talk had they wanted to, and if the mention of Sarah had been brought up, and given Godrick's reply, she would say, "Nothing for me right now, thank you... but, please give her my condolences..."

Happy admits.

Occassional Dungeon Master.

Occassional Dungeon Master.
Angar nods in agreement saying I shall join you if you think you can smooth things over. I'd like to apologize to your father. A good meal would also go a long way. I'm sure we can leave the cart for a little while, but I won't stick around the inn too long. Unless anyone had anything more to say or do Amgar would prepare to head to the Inn.

Back with Angar
Occassional Dungeon Master.
