you're not able to see any foot prints but you can hear someone in heavy armor running away from you. It sounds like he may have taken the next left. When you and the older soldier turn the corner you see the captain at the end of the hall about to turn a corner. What do you do?
Nadia's ears twitch at the sound of heavy armor, quickly darting over in the direction in which she hears it. Upon seeing the captain, she stops and aims a shot at his knee, hoping to slow him down.
On Captain Coward - Attack: 15 Damage: 11 If allowed a second shot - Attack: 26 Damage: 8 Hunters Mark - 6, (if allowed that second shot and it hits) 6 Slayers Prey - 3
The first arrow hits him in the tigh but the second breaks against the stone wall. The captain stifles a cry of pain as he turns the corner and out of sight, leaving a trail of blood to follow.
The old soldier isn't as fast as you but he keeps up. You follow a trail of blood which ends at door leading into a room you haven't been to. The door is locked. What do you do?

Nadia hisses at the discovery of the door being locked, but then again isn't too surprised. "Gonna try and open this," She whispers over to the man, kneeling down and stowing away her bow as she searches her bag for her tools. "In case he tries to run, try and grab him." She looks over to him and wait for him to confirm that he has her back in some way, then gets to trying to pick the lock.
Zack listens to the explanation after nearly gooping the floor like an octo*****. Eying the demon corpse one more time, glad that she was dead but unsure of how long he had been gone. After Happy likely explained it so that there's no more pauses in posting, he takes a moment to consider things. Well if you think you can find them, do so, I'm not very good at tracking things I can't already see. I don't care if the old man said otherwise or not, but I also know I can't just go traipsing around the castle willynilly.
Then training his eyes on the two guards. As for you two, you see that pile of shit over there? That was the duchess. That I warned you about. Before that dumbass old man did whatever he did to me. As I was saying, she's involved in at-least one of the two things I mentioned: Either Human experimentation, or shes an accomplice to the ones who were making that plague that was killing people over the weekend. So you gonna keep being retards and fighting me, or perhaps you'd like to raise the alarm on Mr Fowler for being an accessory to one or two heinous crimes. Because all that will happen at this point is now that you know about what they were doing, either you'll end up experimented on like me, or you'll be force-fed plague-porridge. Make your choice.
The only thing I will apologize for is the fact we had to do all this and throw all this in your laps. You didn't do anything wrong, you were doing your jobs. Just like myself and Angeal. And then they made me into a monster. There's no reason for them not to do the same to you.

Happy nodded, and yet there remained a pensive air about hiim after looking to the remaining guards and knights. In spite of Zack's words, seeing him eyeing at least two of the guards, he held off on any chase. While Zack appeared a fairly capable fighter on the surface, if things got rough...
'No'. he shook his head faintly. he would not think along those lines. But, he he would linger for a few moments longer, Long enough for Zack to deliver the ultimatum. By then, he had taken to examining a nearby wall, allowing Zack to take front stage in terms of attention. By the time, or so he hoped, any eyes are back on him, the Firbolg is no more without so much as a whisper. Although seconds later and out in a hall, a blue-furred almiraj appears racing down the hall following Nadia's path; her lingering scent his guide, and rabbit feet spurring him on at 50ft in seconds!
(Using a bonus action for Firbolg Magic and become invisible for a 'turn'. And within that same turn, wildshape into a n almiraj(HP 3) before rushing away invisibly.)

One of the soldiers clears his throat before asking Where did the druid go?
Shit.
Back with Nadia struggling to open the door. You feel like this door shouldn't be so stubborn but you are unable to open it. The old soldier gives it a quick and hard kick near the handle sending the door flying wide open. Inside an injured Captain Fowler is hiding behind a young woman, holding a knife to her neck.

Nadia truly was rusty with picking locks, growling in frustration under her breath at how she was really failing doing this when time was of the essence. She moves just as the older man kicks the door open, grabbing her bow automatically and aiming an arrow at the captain now in sight. She scowls under her mask. She was a good shot, but she really didn't want to risk accidentally shooting the woman he held hostage.
"Doing this really isn't helping your case, tonto," She seethes. "I'm sure your boss...? Here will go easy on you if you just up and surrender now. So let the woman go."

Back with Nadia.
Captain Fowler looks at you knowing that your bow seems to be able to ignore cover and realizes his attempts to hide behind the hostage are futile. The Captain drops his knife and pushes the woman forward before holding his hands up. Fine...I surrender...just don't kill me. The old soldier looks to you Nadia, giving you a smile and a nod in thanks. He approaches the Captain and ties his hands up with some rope. Come on Captain, back to the dining room. You're going to explain exactly what in the nine hells is going on here. And you miss, you too. I appreciate your help, but I need you to follow me so I can sort all this out. The old soldier lifts up the frightened servant and offers her a few kind words of comfort, asking her to wait here. I'll need to explain what happened and why the Duchess is dead...and a damn succubuss at that...to the Open Lord. Its also important we don't let word of this leak just yet. Around this time Happy the bunny comes running down the hall.
Zack squares his shoulders as the two guards look ready to fight. There is a part of him, deep down that actually wants it to happen, the inner fighter in him. But not necessarily wanting to rile up more tension, he faces them with a relaxed pose, but he can't help but smirk at how easily provoked they are. He had his moments too, but even he was more controlled than this. Oh sorry, did I strike a nerve? If anything you besmirched your own honor for failing to protect your charge. For not realizing your charge was whatever the **** that thing is sooner, and by just how easily you draw swords. Your house should be ashamed of having people like you. You aren't tempered in the slightest. You're like squires getting mad at their host for constructive criticism and taking it to heart. Regardless, Zack walks to the door, putting the tip of his boots outside it as he eyes them both with a smirk. Prove me wrong.
Zacks legs glow with an efflugent blackness for a moment as he readies 1990's slip n' slide should they actually attempt to fight.
The knights glare at you as you put you're foot out the door but as long as you don't step out they don't attack though they do follow you to the door. Are you an idiot? Zack can only laugh at this point. Who you serve doesn't change the root of my words. You're still far too reactionary. I don't care whom you serve, they should be ashamed of you. Atleast your commander, I assume he is, has enough wherewithal to not draw his sword instantly. And we only just came to this town recently, yet we knew. What's your excuse?

Seeing Nadia, the Old Guy, and Fowler hopefully before any see him first, he quickly about face and ducks around the first corner or nearby conviently sized object in the hall to hide and watch the procession go by. If successful, he keeps an eye on them for a few moments before creeping his way around to take a look into the room they had left, curious to see what had involved so clean a capture of the captain, assuming any evidence remains of it.
If he sees the hostage conscious and moving about, he lingers for at least a minute at least roughly out of sight, and squints at them them using bunny little eyes. While not a suspicious creature by nature and any stretch of the imagination, seeing one fiend masquerading around was enough to err on the side of caution. So, he stared, looking for any odd behavior before rejoining the others.
And by rejoin the others, more so try to get in close enough to overhear any conversations.
Nadia keeps her string taut on the captain until the older gentleman had securely tied his hands behind his back. She gives a glance over to the shaken woman, feeling bad that she had unfortunately gotten mixed into this mess, but says nothing to her, letting the man take care of it. When he addresses her, she gives a mere shrug. "Yeah, I expected as much, so no problem. I'll keep my eye on the captain, just in case he tries to scurry off again." To emphasize her point she does a quick 'I'm watching you' gesture to Fowler as they move into the hallway.
When he finishes his piece, Nadia sighs. "I'd get this guy to explain that story to this 'Open Lord' honestly. Seems like he knows more than any of us right now seeing how fast he ran." She passes a glare to the captain, and as her eyes return back to the man, she sees a totally non conspicuous horned rabbit out of the corner of her eye (Passive Perception 16). Her brows furrow, then her mind clicks, and her attention is back on the older man hoping to keep his eyes on her. "Anyways, uh, everything will be answered soon enough. Let's start making our way back. I have a feeling my b-- compatriot is doing something stupid."
She'll wait for him to lead the way prior to following behind, her eyes locked onto Captain Fowler.
Happy, you get a glimpse of the girl used as a hostage. She seems shaken up but is calming down. Nothing about her suggests she is anything but an unfortunate bystander in all this. You manage to get around unseen by anyone but Nadia.
Nadia, as you and the old soldier get back to the room you see Zack in the doorway with half a foot out and a couple of angry looking guards behind him, it seems Zack is stirring up trouble. The old soldier sighs clearly annoyed by the entire situation. Can't step away for 5 minutes...Everyone back in the room. The Captain here as some explaining to do.
Happy is as his name implies content to hippy hop his way back to the others. If he hears the old guy's words along the way, he will try to inconspicuously reenter the room, and find a nice corner to watch the proceedings initially without drawing more intention to himself. If he old soldier asks for him specifically, and appears stubborn about making sure he is in the room, only then does the firbolg revert in the corner, leaning against the wall with a hand behind his head as if completely at ease in the moment.
As far as Zack's state leading up to that point, short of someone actually taking a swing, it was more mildly concern than warranting direct interference. Or so he read the room as much...
