Pax nods and passes the pack to kastix, but removes the spell book and scrolls into her own bag first.
Then she looks to Zeno, “Oh goodness, I didn’t see you full of holes.” She holds out her hand, shadows swirling around his wounds. (Healing “light” for 2)
“Hmmmm. That didn’t do much. Here...”. She touches his side, more shadows seeping into him. (cure light wounds 6) and again.
Pax has observed how difficult Sekkar is to see in the darkness, so she can only assume the drow focused their initial attacks on Kaylyn because they couldn't see Sekkar.
Rhayna's attempts to identify the staff turn up nothing, and a quick glance from Kaylyn's eldritch sight confirms no magic aura. However Rhayna notices that the staff is carved with arcane sigils in the manner of a spellcasting focus, and also features some inscriptions in Elvish that identify the bearer as a servant of the noble House of Mizzrym.
Zeno was unable to hear the drow's final words, but Rhayna would have both heard and understood them, no doubt sharing the tidbit of information that the 'lady' or 'mistress' is drawing nearer.
The journey resumes, with Sekkar again sharing the lead with Kaylyn and Zeno. Sekkar spends some time observing the drow's tracks that brought them to the site of ambush, and concludes that they were expecting the group to pass through the area. Clearly the drow know of the group's approximate location and intended destination. As the journey progresses, Sekkar finds more evidence of drow activity in the area, with other groups of combing the tunnels. The group proceed as swiftly and cautiously as they can along the prescribed route, knowing that to deviate risks becoming lost in the endless tunnels, but to remain on course increases their chance of discovery.
A few days more pass, with no direct confrontations but not without cause for concern. Small tremors in the earth start to be felt, increasing in regularity and severity. By the third day some of the quakes are sufficient to dislodge rocks from the ceiling or to open small cracks in the walls or floor. In addition to the groans of the earth, distant screams and screeches are also heard, some sounding like calls with others resembling the cries of battle. On one occasion, the group finds several drow corpses that appear to have been viciously mauled and partially eaten. The tooth and claw marks are like nothing Sekkar has seen from the Underdark creatures he is familiar with, and several patches of foul-smelling ichor are observed nearby. No message is received from Skriss and Y, despite the promise of an update from the unusual pair.
On the fifth day out from the grove, the tremors increase again, prompting the group to consider halting their progress. Suddenly, a small rockfall from the ceiling in the tunnel ahead turns into a full-scale collapse, with chunks of the ceiling caving down around them.
Everyone make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take 9 bludgeoning damage from falling debris.
Once the dust clears, the group find their way forward cut off by tons of huge boulders and rubble. The only option seems to be to backtrack and find a way around the obstruction, and hopefully pick up some familiar landmarks via another route. Not far back down the tunnel though, the group find that the quake seems to have opened a new rift in the tunnel wall, exposing a short rough passage with more beyond...
If you continue to backtrack along familiar paths, turn to page 27. If you investigate the newly revealed tunnel, turn to page 114.

Kaylyn is rested and alert to the increasing danger of falling rocks from the tremors that have been happening. When the tunnel before them collapses she quickly avoids the worst and is soon dusting off her cloak.

The rift opens into a small dark grotto. Sekkar is the first one through, and immediately he notices that the air inside is very stale and thin, suggesting this area hasn't been exposed to fresh air for a long time. On the far side is another tight crack, but big enough for all to pass through as they follow the ranger, beyond which a passage runs in both directions. The tunnel extends to the right, giving Kaylyn some hope that it might meet up with their original passage a little further down. To the left however, it joins what appears to be a room with walls of finished stone. The ten-foot-high walls glisten with dark, dripping water, which pools on the floor. The tremors continue.

Lizardman was naturally curious but had to point out the obvious "The tremor feels quite interesting too, the air says it can be dead end on both ends. Might be safer to return." Yet, he made a short detour to peek inside the left room: Perception 26
Sekkar creeps toward the room, stopping just before entering. The room is a fifteen-feet square with ten-foot-high walls which appear to be coated in a rancid-smelling sheen of slime. In places the slime pools on the floor, but it is joined by a growing puddle of water which appears to be seeping slowly into the room from a corridor which extends to the north.
Suddenly Dawnbringer (who has continued to be rather untalkative) speaks into Sekkar's mind: Did you hear that? There's a creature here somewhere. It tried to contact me. A moment later Sekkar feels a presence in his mind (he's used to this sort of thing by now) projecting a wordless thought of curiosity and wonder.
The thought is interrupted however as the tremor once again intensifies into a quake. The rift that formed between the main tunnel and the grotto widens with a deafening creak, but this only serves to loosen the rocks above, and they begin to fall into the gap. As the tremors subside and the dust clears it is apparent that the small rift is now almost completely occluded with rubble, and only a small gap at the top remains...
(Who said 'railroad'? I left you a gap, okay?)

"I felt it," begun Sekkar but the cave-in (curiosity got better of him again!) interrupted the dialog. The Presence had to wait now. First of all, the ranger carefully examined the slide and tried to reach that gap, checking out if he can squeeze through or widen it enough to do so.
Pensive can fit through, but neither Sekkar nor any of the other humanoids can. It would be possible to move the rubble by hand, but would probably take several hours, and there is no guarantee that more might fall to take their place, not to mention the risk of further quakes. And the tunnel beyond only leads further back the way they came, and carries with it further risks of rockfalls. On the other hand, Sekkar's initial impression of the room ahead is that it is quite sturdy, and doesn't show any signs of collapse or other effects from the earthquake.

Pax steadies herself after the rock fall, coughing a bit as the dust clears. "How do creatures live underground like this?"
She checks out the gap with Sekkar, then turns to the group, "I can stay here clearing this gap while you all check out that room and a bit down the hallway if you like. If they lead somewhere worthwhile, call for me."
She puts her bag and shield down, then unbuckles her sword belt and lays it to one side. With her steel gauntlets she begin picking up rocks and displacing them to one side of the passage.
