Erky moved inside the room keeping closer to the Bear (just in case). The display of dead bodies everywhere was terrifying, the look of so humbled elderly goblin - sad. "We are not going to harm you" assured gnome in Goblin and turned to other to clarify in Common: "We are not, are we? Not going to harm? Them?"

"We're passing through. We have no ill intent but will fight to protect ourselves from anyone who wishes to harm us," Kastix replies back to Erky. 

Hearing the gnome speak in the Goblin tongue, the shaman replies in Goblin...

To Kastix, the shaman responds in Common:
Them in the Grove, they will wish you harm. Beware Balsag and his pets.

Erky restraind himself from explanations about personal inability to hold the grudge but instead translated the main parts (about the things Goblins ask to not harm - them and the Tree and their promise to help) and assured again, that the group is here with the sole purpose of search for the missing companions (and now, probably, to get rid those ruins of the evil that possessed it). Finishing all the translations and while others were readying questions, he in turn asked (out of pure curiosity) if it was shaman's voice that made goblins to attack the Chief?

The shaman (who now introduces herself as Grenl) assures Erky that it was indeed her that voiced the command, albeit magnified with a simple cantrip.

"Is everyone ok? I know we need some rest for sure," Kastix stated but remembering the hobgoblin's footstool chest and going to check it out.

@Kastix: It is a very sturdy chest made of thick iron sheets held together with iron bands. It is locked.

Investigation 11

Royan takes in the conversation. He sheaths his weapon as he does so and pulls out his water skin to have a drink and something to eat to calm his nerves after the fight. “I could definitely use a rest. This looks like a good a place as any. Erky, can they describe the area around the Tree for us? How many guards? Defended and the like?”

Erky did not conciser a battlefield covered with blood and decorated with dead body a pleasant resting place, but did not argue and translated the questions.

Other than armour and weapons previously mentioned, the large bald hobgoblin has no valuables of note, but the other wears a pair of silver earrings set with moonstones. The chief's longsword appears unremarkable, but his splint armour is well-crafted and has a heraldic crest worked into the chest pieces, which is unusual for a hobgoblin. The shield is also particularly good quality. He also has a pouch with three glass vials containing liquid (a quick taste reveals one is a potion of healing and two are antitoxin), a gold ring, and an iron key. The key opens the iron chest. Kastix immediately notices the presence of a poison needle seated in the lock mechanism, but it seems to have been deactivated when the key was turned in the lock. The chest contains two onyx gems sitting on a pile of over 200 gold coins.

Grenl says that the Tree has stood for ages, in the centre of a large courtyard in a cavern down below, but she hasn't seen it in many years - not since the Outcast arrived. Although he allows the goblin-kin to serve him, he permits none of the tribe to enter the Twilight Grove, an area around the tree where he grows other trees and shrubs. The twig creatures started appearing soon after the Outcast took over, and Grenl suspects there are probably more of them in or near the Grove. It is necessary to pass through more of the citadel in order to reach the Grove.

Kastix will take the vials for possible future use and ask the party if they want the items off the hobgoblin. He'll look down the hole, is there anything that could bring something up while we possibility sleep here?

Grenl advises against sleeping in this chamber. The shaft is the way to the lower level of the citadel, and other members of the tribe, including Balsag the bugbear, could come at any time. She advises instead to rest in a small chamber off the main one through the south door.

Erky, again, translated and followed Grenl to the safe spot, asking on the way about Tree and it's fruits in the past - were goblins always watching the Tree? What did they do with the fruits before? When did they come to this place and what do they know about it? Abstract questions, not for the sake of expedition but more for the sake of knowledge he still hoped to bring back to the Temple.

Grenl says the goblins have been here for hundreds of years, but the Tree existed long before they arrived. Goblins seldom entered the grove, believing it to be haunted, a legend which the elders perpetuated to keep the tribe safe, as they feared and mistrusted the Tree. They never picked the fruit in times past. It is only in the last twelve years since the Outcast arrived that he ordered the goblins to distribute the fruit to people on the surface, but for what reason they don't know. The goblins took their own initiative to sell the fruit rather than just give it away.

After things come down, Rhayna comes out of her "Rage", and she sees herself surrounded by Goblins and a dead large bald Hobgoblin laying next to her. She discreetly goes around the shaft to join her friends at the other side.

Kaylyn smiles at Grenl.  "Erky, tell Grenl I'm sorry for blasting him and I'm glad he survived.  I'm willing to heal him if needed.  We can then rest and continue.  I understand we must go down from here to find the grove or am I mistaken and we go deeper into this first level of the citadel?"

Erky gladly continued to work as translator. In addition to the apologies, healing suggestion and wander what danger can be expected should party stay in said room for a long rest, he carefully asked if goblins - now free - have any intention to try and fight back the Outcast? Probably as a backup to party? Also, provided the Tree is free and Outcast is dealt with - would goblins continue the trade or would they keep away from the tree again as they did before Outcast?

Rhayna hears Kastix asking if anyone wants the items off the Hobgoblins. She looks around. "I would like to have the pair of silver earrings set with moonstones? If no one wants it. But, ahhh, could someone take it off from the dead Hobgoblin if you would be so kind?"

Before leaving the room, Rhayna looks around wall and ceiling for anything interesting that may warrant further study. (History: 20)

Ireniana shakes her head. "I do not need anything." She walks over and takes the earrings from the hobgoblin's body and hands them to Rhayna.
