But I still have so many spell slots! If we are resting, then Badger has a couple more things to do.
1) Cast Invisibility on himself and walk into the garden room to investigate the space where the poison gas came out, and see if any poison vents can be blocked. Investigation: 26
2) Cast Magic Missile at the frozen insect statue until it is in tiny pieces.
3) Cast Arcane Eye and send the eye through the portcullis and as far down the corridor as possible, followed by up or down any stairs.
Oh, not walking in if the poison is still there. Will wait until after the rest, or if there is time left on the arcane eye after going down the corridor.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Badger sends his hovering invisible eye scouting through the bars. It goes down the 20 feet hallway then turns left into a ten foot wide hallway.
He describes this all to everyone as he goes.
The ten foot wide hall goes twenty feet then heads down a long stairway for another twenty feet. At the botton graven images of rotting corpses decorate this walls, and the floor is littered with tarnished coins, pieces of armor, broken shields, axe heads, and other bits of scrap metal. The hallways is about sixty feet long. Fifty feet down, on the left side, a staircase descends through a doorway. At the end of the hallway a yawning archway has a keystone adorned with an iron bull's skull, which bites down on an ivory ring. Through the archway is another room, which is a forty-foot-diameter vertical shaft. Stone balconies protrude from the walls on opposite sides of this expanse, with the far balcony fifteen feet higher than the near one. Two thick chains rattle in the gulf between the balconies, ascending two hundred feet before disappearing into a cloudy vortex lit by arcs of purple lightning; the other wrapping around an enormous metal gear floating one hundred feet below. Another hundred feet below the gear, a second vortex rages.
The eye wanders back out of that room, and heads down the stairs. The stairs descends for what seems like over a hundred feet. At the bottom, it opens into a room. Green smoke billows out from a bronze cauldron in the middle of this twenty-foot-high vaulted hall. Barely visible through the haze are three rocking chairs, several work benches heaped with haberdashery, a spinning wheel, and a rusty iron cage containing a prisoner. Galleries stand ten feet above the floor to either side of the room.
Five wooden doors are set into the walls of the galleries, each carved with a geometric symbol: a triangle, a square, a pentagon, a hexagon, and an octagon. When you see them, you are reminded of the strange skeleton keys you've found. One actually had a triangle shape to it's key, while another had an octagon. The eye moves towards the cage. A heavy padlock secures the gate of the rusted cage, inside which a naked figure cowers under a bloodstained blanket.

Back in the poison room, poison continually pours from it. The eye wanders in and finds a small room after a short hallway. Thick green gas billows out of skull-shaped nozzles set into the walls of this cramped room. A rotting corpse clad in studded leather armor lies on the floor, mouth open and hands grasping its throat. Wrapped around one of its arms is a yellow band. It has a sword with a dragon hilt at it's side, and a backpack next to it.

All the way through Badger's commentary of what he sees through the magic eye, he continually mutters phrases such as Not good, not good at all or Oh dear, very dangerous. His face is noticeably paler after describing the downstairs room, and for some reason he continually looks at Silas with a face filled with pity and dread.
Ending the spell, Badger consults with the others. Well, it seems we need five keys, but we only have two. There is no point advancing further here until we obtain the other three keys, and we cannot return the way we came. However, there is still a way in and out of the plant room if we can somehow ascend or descend the shaft. And before that we will have to stop the poison gas. Any suggestions?

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Sickle runs his chin where stubble has grown into a scraggly forming beard, scratching thoughtfully at the basé of one of his tusks.
“I too have most of my energy left for spells...and then there is the ring. In any case, if we rest here, I can certainly deal with the gas after. Either dissipating it or allowing one of use to brave it more readily” His attention turns to the wardrobes and the insect creatures. He pets the ice wolf. “Does anyone recognize these creatures, or the place they came from? I don’t like this image of the hag, what if what we fought wasn’t real...we need to be careful as we rest.” At last he turns to the porticullis, examining it to see if he can determine what type of metal it is.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Badger also suggests that if Sickle feels healthy enough, he seems to be the hardiest of them all and might attempt to block the poison gas nozzles. He would have the rest period to recover from any ill effects, and they could move through the room freely after their rest. I would do it myself, says Badger, but we can't afford to lose me.

Badger recognized the creatures. The insect creatures were Mezzoloths. They make up a bulk of the Yugoloth population. Yugoloth's are the demon that spawn from Gehenna, the first of whom were created by a sisterhood of night hags from the same plane. It is said that Asmodeus, lord of the nine hells, commissioned the work.

Sickle raises an eyebrow at Badger, but will nod and move towards the poison gas. “I know spells that would help with this more, but without the opportunity to prepare them...”.
Sickle will prepare himself for a moment, casting a low level Cure Wounds for 7 and using his second Wild Shape to turn into a Brown Bear.
Then he will enter the gas room, looking around for the source of the gas, but headed for the collapsed figure,’intending to drag him back with his belongings.
(OOC: This is probably really dumb, but I hate to waste the opportunity knowing we can rest after. It occurs to me that between healing and Hit Dice rolls, we should be able to get back to health, but if the group wants to wait for a Long Rest, that’s cool.)
Silas has 2,2,0,0 spell slot left out of 4/3/3/2 total spell & burned his Ioun & Death Ward spell so that's why he's in favor of long rest. Don't know about the others. If there's another fight, Silas will limit himself to support/healing.
Silas will cast Death Ward on himself after healing everyone out of danger zones as well.

Sickle bravely volunteers himself. Then, he shimmers into the shape of a brown bear, the beast huge and very fuzzy looking. You sorta want to just hug him.
Regardless, the giant teddy bear wanders into the plant room, with everyone watching on. The poison doesn't quite reach the hallway out. The bear then trods forward into the green mist and down the short hallway to the north.

Mal will move to the entrance of the area Sickle moved down and start to fashion his rope with a large loop on one end and then start absently swinging it. Just in case Sickle doe snot make it all the way back she will be ready to throw the rope and hope to lasso Sickle and then drag him back.
(The poison is stirring around most of the plant room, which..you can see. Moving more than a few steps into the plant room, exposes you to the poison. If you agree to still move to the door with the rope, then , make a DC 13 save or take 20 damage, with half on a save....). (and you said "his rope" when referring to Mal again....lol)

Grenk is also low hp, short rest even i can burn hit dice for hp then maybe long rest after that. I don't think we can risk anything more than one battle and after a long rest we get half our hit dice back for the next day.
The bear comes huffing and puffing out of the poison hallway, pulling a dead body that is dragging a backpack on it. He pulls it across the plant room free of the poison gas and lets out a few hacking poison filled coughs, slamming it's feet on the ground in pain.
You guys look down at the body. Whoever it was clearly died badly, its mouth open in an eternal yell. Searching through it's gear, you find the yellow arm band on it's shoulder, the backpack which contains a bedroll, a mess kit, a tinderbox, 7 torches, 8 days of rations, some extra clothes, and a waterskin half full of water. The pack also has 50 feet of hempen rope strapped to the side of it. The corpse is wearing some pretty nice studded leather, but it's mundane. There's also a sheathed longsword with a dragon hilt...and it's magical. A belt pouch also contains six Carnelian stones worth 50gp each, and 9gp, 8 silver, and 6 copper.
