"Sure thing," Grenk grunts out and pulls his shield up and sword out. He takes a cautious approach and peeks around the corner with the shield blocking his torso and most of his face.
Grenk peers cautiously into the next room. The man chirps along with the group. His voice doesn't show any stress or concern, only as if he's trying to explain something to Grenk and the group. Either way, Grenk looks in. He sees a 15x15 square room that contains a stone font filled with a steaming green liquid. Beyond it, a shadowy figure stands at an open door on the far side of the room. The figure's back is toward him.

Go on then, urges Badger, giving Grenk a small nudge. He pokes his own bulbous nose around the doorway and peers inside, curious to see what the creature is, but not so curious as to go in and get a closer look for himself. While watching, Badger activates the magic of his helm and listens to the thoughts of the human peasant, wondering if the man has anything useful in his mind to contribute.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Grenk steps into the room and then to the side slightly freeing the door way in case others want to enter. He holds his shield up and shouts at the the creature. "Hey, what's your deal and whats up with the stone?"
As Grenk steps into the room, and the to the side, the figure on the far side that looks oddly familiar also steps forward, then steps to the side. Not as if copying Grenk, but....exactly moving as Grenk moves. The figure is also large and, hmmm, has his hair. In fact, the being on the far side of the room looks like it could be Grenk. It follows his every move. It’s back is continues to face you.

"If i walk up and attack it, will I be hitting it in the back? Should I give it a try." Grenk asks. "No lets try this." He then puts the sword and sheild away and pulls out the bow. He then shoots an arrow at the creature.
It mirrors Ketch's action of shooting, but has no bow or arrow so doesn't fire anything. The arrow rips through the creature....it yells in sudden pain, in Ketch's voice... clutching at its back, as it slumps forward against the wall...slowly sliding down the wall until it lays on the ground, face down....in a pool of blood.
Grenk will put the bow away and pull his sword and shield out again. He will slowly make his way towards the font and press his that is holding the sword against the side of it and focus upon it. As he focuses, he tries to tap into the "memories" that may be present in it.
Using Grim Psychometry: When you reach 9th level, you have a supernatural talent for discerning the history surrounding mysterious objects or places touched by evil. When making an Intelligence (History) check to recall information about a darker past surrounding an object you are touching, or a location you are present in, you have advantage on the roll. The information gleaned often leans towards the more sinister influences of the past, and sometimes conveys visions of things previously unknown to the character on higher rolls.
Seeing that Grenk is entering the room with his weapons stowed, Badger feels safe enough to follow. He looks around the room, particularly curious about the font in the middle, but then walks over to inspect the body...

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Grenk walks up to the font filled with steaming soupy liquid...the font looks solidly attached to the ground and must contain at least 5 gallons of steaming liquid. As he uses his insight on it he sees a small orange crystal sitting in the empty font....but then the "soup" is poured into the font by two skeletal hands holding a bowl...though he can't seem to see more of this figure..... As the soup is poured in, the crystal vanishes...locked away.
Badger walks across the room and inspects the body...it appears to be Grenk, as he tilts the face up so he can get a look he sees Grenk's face, twisted in a horrific visage of agony...the face is so horrific that a shock of pure panic and fear strike into Badgers heart. (Wisdom save vs DC 15 please Badger). Then the form vanishes.

Grenk contemplates reaching into the soupy liquid but thinking that it's likely acid or poison he stops short. Rather than reach in, he pulls out hand axe and attempts to break a chunk out of it. Maybe by cracking the edge, the liquid can drain out and he can grab the crystal.
Not sure if you want an attack roll, strength check so I'll give them both
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sickle runs forward as Badger slumps over. He sees the signs of aging and is immediately concerned. He looks for any sign of what might be wrong, whether physical or magical. Medicine: 15
Yes, he passed out next to Grenk. Since his hair is already white, Sickle notes no obvious changes. He seems as if he's been knocked unconscious. You'd figure he's at deaths door but stable. 0 HPs.
Grenk slams his axe into the font, it clangs off of it with sparks, but leaves not a scratch. After a few more attempts, it would seem this strange font is impervious to damage!! Remarkable!

(Does the shadowy figure appear corporeal?)
(Yes, the shadowy figure indeed looks to be solid enough....not a phantasm or ghost...)
