Mal does not flinch when Badger walks up to her but she remembers. She moves once more when Badger enters the room and follows along behind him as he goes inside. Quietly walking up behind him she leans in and right next to his ear speaks out, "WHAT horror do you think is waiting for us in this room?"
Silas stares at Badger with exhausted look,. "Caution is better better part of varlor. I am in no decent shape to continue our pace of exploration. If you wish to go, I will take the rear," Silas states with his 13HP and 0/0/1/1/1 spell slots

Mal stops in her tracks, and shakes her head in frustration swearing, "You are right Silas, we should all take a rest as now that you mention it, I am a bit battered and sore. We could move back to that room with the mirror, one of use could just back into the room with a blanket and cover it, making sure the blanket would not fall off while we rest. At least that way we only need to watch one direction for anything hostile to come our way." Turning her head back to Badger, "Wait on going any further we are taking a much needed rest, this way." Then she heads off in the direction of the mirror room."
Badger spends time flipping through his spellbook while tossing the bones to predict which spells he is most likely to need. He also spends time to dig through his pack and various pouches to see if there is anything they might have collected but forgotten about. Finally he stares into his crystal ball for a while, peering into the future to see what doom might befall the group the following day. Perhaps if anyone is brewing tea, then they might pass their cups to the gnome for a quick reading...?
Swapping out Arcane Eye and Counterspell for Clairvoyance and Identify. Also seems like I had another prepare slot I wasn't using, so also preparing Comprehend Languages. It's been used so much I might as well dedicate a slot to it. Also, seems like I forgot to add a fifth cantrip, so learning Encode Thoughts. Lots of fun to be had if you also have a Helm of Telepathy... which Badger does!
Will ritual-cast Identify on the gem we found in the wight's study. Sorry I don't have any more info on it, just a brief note that I forgot about. Does anyone else have anything that is yet to be identified? Also, thanks to Obolaka, Badger can attune to an extra magic item but doesn't currently have anything that needs it. Does anyone have any magic items they aren't using? Time for a quick inventory.
Kirin - Level 15 High Elf Wizard (Evocation) - Zorg's Lost Souls - Overchannel Steel Wind Strike for the Win against Demogorgon Silas - Level 11 Human Cleric (War Domain) - Tomb of Annihilation Done
A bedroll easily tackles the nasty problem of the soul absorbing mirror, leaving you all in a dead-end room with no door to protect you from whatever hordes of monsters happen upon you. You can also stare down the hallway to the door you just opened. The poor crazed human sees the room you're heading towards and stops, and then goes around the corner in the hallway to wait there instead, refusing to head towards the mirror room. Once every thirty minutes or so, you see him peek around the corner, through his fingers, to see if you're still there.
Sickle, eyes covered in blue frost, and with even less to say than normal simply lays down on one side of the room, closes his eyes, and begins sleeping.
The stone skinned Dao hovers around the room impatiently, occasionally floating down the passage a ways to check on the man, and then floating back. She mutters about a hundred years in a bottle only to lay down in a room and have a rest seems entirely unreasonable.
Badger identifies the strange gem and finds that it is a special gem used to control inter-dimensional demonic frog creatures called Slaads. In fact, if he had to make a bet, that grey Slaad they fought in that pentagram room was probably the one it controlled. Badger's frog makes the occasional loud croaking sound.
About half-way through the rest, whomever is on guard looks down the hallway to see the last key they are looking for come scuttling out of the hallway. The Dao spies it and mutters, "Great, something I can smash...." The skeleton appears to begin trying to back away, but the Dao waves it's hand and the hallway behind it becomes filled with stone. The Dao makes quick work of the thing. It floats back into the room as it's stone wall slowly crumbles into nothing, and tosses the skeleton key on the floor at Grenk's feet. "The elusive key you sought almighty master. I found it there....in plain sight." She couldn't have said it with more sarcastic drawl if her life depended on it.
The long rest is achieved eventually, as the group is looking considerably improved and well rested, flush in cheeks. Though spirits are still....crowded and confused.
(Argh! We could have had a slaad servant as well. That'll teach me to hang on to stuff without identifying it.)
Badger is elated to see the final key has been retrieved. After all, he wasn't all that thrilled about investigating a room decorated with people being slain by beams of black starlight. But then again, the alternatives aren't much more inviting. Urgh, I suppose this means going back to the room where the keys fit, does it? Badger gulps and glances at Silas with a look of dread on his hairy face.

Sickle, after resting and doing a bit of meditating stands up. Silently he checks his gear, his pale frosty eyes glancing around the group with little emotion, and waits for someone else to lead the group back down to the key room, or wherever.
The human commoner peeks around the corner every few minutes, seeing the group is near ready to go...he seems antsy to be on his way, though he has no idea where his way might be.
Keshma, who has been floating in the air but looking like she was resting on a nice couch...with her arms behind her head....swings up into a horizontal position. She claps Ketch on the shoulder, "Alright, nearly half a day down and ain't nothin happened yet. I'm afraid you haven't gotten much out of this deal so far, but....I did get that elusive key for you." She smiles and stands just behind him....waiting.

"Badger, summon your floating eye again and lead the way down to the key room. With your eye we can see trouble coming and avoid it if we can so we can hurry up and get out of this place. Ready when you are." Mal Says.
Badger clears his throat and says: Urgh, I decided against memorising that spell today. It's more effective for exploration, but since we already know where we are going, I thought a less taxing alternative might be more prudent. However it has a more costly material component, so I can only cast it once.
(I actually didn't consider the material components when I picked the spell, but if 100gp isn't too much to overlook... didn't we find a glass eye somewhere? I'm sure we did!)
Badger continues: It should be simple matter of dropping down the hole at the bottom of the central staircase and into the garden room. From there I believe it is a simple walk to the gate room, (another glance at Silas), either through the wardrobe room or through the small tunnel and via the shaft of the swirling vortex of death. Maybe we could pick up my vehicle while we are there! Badger looks hopefully to Mal to lead out.

Grenk happily accepts the key from Keshma. "No matter how ya got the key, ya got it, and we got a decent rest. That could mean a lot or not but if you are looking for excitement them I bet we find it on the otherside of the door the keys open."
The group finds there way down to the stairs eventually, though they're forced to go through the control room, since the wardrobe room bars seem to have descended into place and reset once again. Someone briefly considers staying here and killing wardrobe spawners until the group levels up but the DM assures everyone that's a bad idea, so you continue on.....down the crawlway, and through the armillary sphere room, down another crawlway and past the vortex (and "Badgers" flying vehicle), and into the room that previously disintegrated everything but still is deactivated. The stairs lead straight down into the strange smoke filled room where the keys are needed.

Badger focus' on the mirror....questing out with his mind, letting his magic swirl and focus and bring him a view of the room. Perhaps it's his own anticipation of something bad.....or perhaps this mirror is a cheap knock off....or maybe it's something else, but the magic dissipates and the spell fails.
