Hi, here's my monk: Salazar, Half-Elf Monk I'm not definitely not a beginner player but I also am not a veteran. I know like 95% of the rules, but there might be some small things I do wrong. I am super open to being corrected on rules and mechanics
Alignment: Neutral Good
Background: Sage
Backstory:
Salazar was basically born into academia. His father was a philosopher, his mother a professor. Growing up, he was particularly interested in moral and ethical philosophy. What makes something good? How do you handle disagreements between people, groups, nations? Is violence ever justified? He tried finding answers in a variety of different groups. Churches too religious. Academia too bureaucratic. Monasteries? They would do. 30 years of meditation, deep thought, and monasterial tradition brought him to where he is today: The Bloody Beard Tavern.
Although most monks and monasteries disapproved of drinking, Salazar found great weight in it. Let's chalk it up to creative differences. To Salazar, people were the greatest sources of knowledge. Alcohol opens people up, they say things and truths about themselves they would never say otherwise. It was also a good source for work. Salazar definitely appreciates his time at the monastery, but he decided some time out in the field would be good for him and his studies.
Now, he looks for work where he can. Protecting people, running errands, the usual. He's not afraid of getting his hands dirty, but only uses violence in the name of good, for self defense, etc. He even enjoys the occasional bar fight (between consenting parties, of course), which the Bloody Beard Tavern had plenty of.
Backstory: Elisa was born to an unlikely pairing of a dashing Half-Orc paladin and his chosen lady fair, Esmerelda, a simple tavern girl, but one who true love did strike. Elisa was a terror as a child, constantly getting into trouble and even running away and making it on the streets for short periods. Her features favored her human side, but her temperament showed orcish rage burning in her veins. As a adult she channeled her rage into learning to fight and her street contacts into making a living collaring criminals for money. She has come to the Bloody Beard tavern looking for work. She's grown tired of the usual collecting of local thugs, so if anything new were to pop up she'd be keen to listen.
I watch over my friends as if they were a litter of newborn pups. I place no stock in wealthy or well-mannered folk. Money and manners won’t save you from a hungry owlbear.
Ideals
Change. Life is like the seasons, in constant change, and we must change with it. (Chaotic)
Bonds
I am the last of my tribe, and it is up to me to ensure their names enter legend.
Flaws
I remember every insult I’ve received and nurse a silent resentment toward anyone who’s ever wronged me.
Working on backstory. UNDERCONSTRUCTION:)
Garet jr is the unexpected and the only child of and old Firbolg couple that lived near the (mainly human) druid circle in forset. Rised by his elderly mother(druid) Garet always loved stories about youth of his father (Garet snr) and his adventures as a mercenary. Unfortunately he newer had chance to really meet him. When he was 2 his father took some "easy" mercenary errand... end never come back.
Firbolg now in his 20' decides to move from the safe forest and taste adventure life. He hopes to find people that knew his Father.
Right now he helps few young human hunters who get injured in the forest to get back to town (Neverwinter)..and so they arrive to The Bloody Beard tavern
As a child he was found among the wreckage of a raided caravan on it's way to Neverwinter. Growing up in Neverwinter was not easy, the orphanage tried to take care of Gar but his stubborn streak was too much for most to handle. He fled the orphanage every chance he got and lived on the streets taking what he needed when he needed it. Despite his wild side the orphanage always helped him when things got too rough but he was determined not to rel on others. His skills in moving around unseen grew and he made a name for himself, recently that is becoming more problematic as some shady people are trying to force him into join their ranks and the guards are beginning to close in on him for a few jobs he did.. He has arrived at the Bloody Beard Tavern because he heard it is a place adventurers hang out and he is hoping to join them and get out town before he is caught by either group.
Race: Human - he has dark hair, olive skin, and brown eyes. Relative to the 'real world' he looks Mediterranean.
Alignment: Neutral good - Percy values systems of morals and values, but he has disagreed with the actions of law-abiding folk too often to call himself lawful.
Class: Paladin of Lathander, deity of creativity, dawn, renewal, birth, athletics, spring, self-perfection, vitality and youth.
Background:
Percy is clever, and he knows it. He is used to helping out those that aren't as smart as him, and is patient in the explanations he gives to others. He is reasoned and willing to consider all sides of an argument before making his own judgement. Some might accuse him of 'sitting on the fence' but he puts value in what others might have to say (even if they're wrong). He values knowledge, beauty and logic above other ideals. He has been searching for the answer to questions about morality - what makes someone good? He is terrible at keeping secrets - he can't help but smirk and laugh.
He was raised the youngest child of 5, the only son and therefore rendered the 'baby'. His family is very loving, and he communicates with them regularly. His father, Percoris Petlar Sr., was a cleric of Lathander and the family grew up with that belief system. However, Percy puts more value in defending his God and bringing down those that go against his teachings. Percy endeavours to dispel the undead and encourage the creation of new life.
Percy finds himself at the Bloody Beard tavern after wrongly placing his trust in a former girlfriend who stole all his money. He plans to bother the patrons in the hope of finding work so he can move on from the big city and send some money home to his family.
Ephraim Hornstock- Human Wizard (plan on going divination) (caster)
Background: Sage
Neutral Good
Ephraim has spent most of his relatively long life in a library in Silverymoon, buried in books on the arcane. His studies and seclusion have left him what most people describe as "a little nutty". He wanders around sucking on a small stone that he keeps flavored with prestidigitation and mumbling to himself. Despite this, and despite his advanced age, he has become a rather capable wizard in his own right. His appearance (an old, white headed, slightly stooped, human with hair and beard down to his waist, sucking on a rock and mumbling to himself) causes most to underestimate him, and being rather spry for his age, he uses this to his advantage. Whether accidentally or on purpose, no one, least of all himself, is quite sure. He has arrived in Neverwinter on a whim, having seen a confusing visions of a tavern, a group of strangers, and a deep, dark mine.
Vanzaren was born in the circus. He was raised by the circus. And he loved the circus, the places they traveled to the performances. His mother and father worked as knife jugglers, but Vanzaren became an adept mock sword fighter and sword swallower after training under the circus ring leader, an elf who had spent time in the Feywilds as a youth and taught him everything he had learned about magic, sword fighting, and performance. Shows come and go though, and after a while Vanzaren decided to take the skills he had learned into the wold and adventure for a bit. Try it out and see if there was anything else he excelled at besides putting on a show and bringing in young women with his looks and what his mother called "Natural Half-Elf Charms."
Vanzaren parted ways with family and the circus in Neverwinter, believing it to be the best place for him for him to start out his career. Saying goodbye was difficult, but being handed the ring leader's old spellbook as a goodbye present lessened the blow of knowing he wouldn't see be seeing his family for a while, to say the least. Watching the circus leave without him, Vazaren turned to look at the city of Neverwinter, picked a direction and started walking. Eventually finding himself in the Bloody Beard tavern. Unpleasant name, sure, but the kind of name that promised what he was looking for.
(This is what I have for now I'll expanded upon it later today)
Should be able to post at least twice a day. Although this will be my first play by post it is not my first foray into the world of D&D.
For consideration I offer up the following...
Rigel Foresyth is a chaotic good half-elf Ranger that was raised and trained in the wilds by his woodsman father and artisan elven mother. He has ventured into Neverwinter to procure some supplies and information regarding possible threats to his beloved woodlands. It is the later that has brought him to the Bloody Beard.
Hector wasn't a good kid and it got him in trouble. Luckily his strength and reputation for fighting allowed him to be conscripted instead of jailed. By the end of his enlistment he was a better fighter and a better person for it. He soon found work as lawful muscle for hire, not interested in the shakedowns of his youth.
Alternate Glory Chaotic Good Tiefling (Variant Devil's Tongue) Hexblade (SWING)
Glory was born in poverty, but used her natural gifts to work her way to a high position amongst the noble courts of Neverwinter. Trusting the wrong person got her on the bad side of an ascending noble and he lost her position. Living on the streets, she began having visions of a dark blade that seemed to call out to her. It whispered to her of the power to show those who mocked her decline how wrong they were. She accepted its offer of power without knowing for sure what she was trading away. Her next steps unsure, she walks into the Bloody Beard tavern ready to start a new life.
A elf orphan who raised themselves in the woods and learned druidcraft from the nature around her. At the age of 8 was found and educated, is now a scholar. At 15, she went to the spot where she grew up and nearby she found a artifact leaking dark power. She went to the Bloody Beer to see if anyone knew about it. Has a extreme phobia of animals from growing up in the woods.

Sorry for late post :(.
You aren’t late, the recruiting thread will be open until late Friday :)
I can post daily but at about your 2pm is that a ok time
Meet Ronk. Ronk is formerly a member of the Temple of the Tranquil Serpent, the small monastery that took him in when his gang was wiped out while Ronk was still young. He tries his best to live up to the tenets of his order, even though he fled some years ago when local villagers got wind of a bugbear living there and out came the pitchforks and torches. In the intervening years, he's spent is time in the wilds, meditating, seeking enlightenment, and punching holes out of trees. Lately though, his meditations have seemed to be guiding him back to civilization, so he's patched his robes, fashioned a wicker basket that he can wear over his head to conceal his nature, and headed into Neverwinter. (Neutral Good, Hermit background, perhaps as a scout or offense, still thinking on what sublcass I'd like to go for).
Also submitted for you approval. Brother Ingot. Brother Ingot was given to a temple of Gond when he was just an infant. According to the other priests, his birth family consisted of impoverished humans who, suddenly having a newborn they couldn't afford to feed, but who had skin that looked like metal, they did the only thing that seemed right - they gave him to the priests of the Lord of All Smiths. He spent many years in that temple, growing up under the tutelage of gruff but patient smith-priests and the steady sounds of prayer and busy workshops. Eventually, he was given a small temple of his own to run - so small it was more of a blacksmith's workshop festooned with religious iconography. Still, it was his altar, and he made good use of it, crafting and repairing tools for the farmers and hunter and shepherds, only accepting modest donations to meet his own costs. He came to Neverwinter to deliver one special project he'd been commissioned for - a sword for a wealthy merchant - but on seeing how the merchant lived, Ingot could not bear to hand the sword over, and promptly left, eventually ending up in the Bloody Beard for an ale before heading home... (Lawful Good, Forge Domain Cleric, Guild Artisan background - crafting and worship are one in the same for him).
