Rank 2 for the franchise includes some variety of transportation for our HQ, can we set up some variety of teleport doorway from here to there? Or does anyone have a better way of doing it?
The days slip by, as the group of you help with some of the rebuilding tasks around Leilon. Your franchise satalite office goes up during this time as well. (Feel free to discuss in the OOC what you would want this to look like. Head Office is flipping the bill, so it can be fairly elaberate, but not excessive - you know how head office is about frivilous spending after all.)
During this time a few more new recruits filter into town, sent on by Kass from the main franchise office in Phandalin. New players feel free to introduce yourself. You are in the Leilon office, and can introduce yourself as if you just arrived in town.
Crexibis wanders into the Leilon flicking the skulls on his abacus back and forth mindlessly. He didn't have much to keep track of, given that he no longer had a franchise to work for. Or at least he hadn't gotten to the place he was supposed to work yet so he didn't have anything to count for his new franchise. Sighing and putting his occultant's device back in his pack, Crexibis snaps his fingers and a skeleton hobbles out from hiding and follows behind him. Crexibis pays no mind to any attention that he is given because of his strange companion and just snaps his jaw at anyone that looks at him funny.
Wandering around, he finds the franchise-building he was looking for, and wanders into the office looking for people. In a high pitched sing-songy voice, Crexibis's unusual voice carries out over the room. "Hello? I was sent here to find the group that I'm supposed to be working with?"

“The mark of a successful DM is when you have caused more player deaths with doors than dragons, demons, or devils.”
Bella strode through town, noticing everything and everyone and being seen by none. Well, some saw her, but she did nothing to cause a memory to form in their minds. She'd arrived several days ago and while the timing had varied, the routine had been the same. Stroll through town, getting names of important people, listening to rumors and gossip while giving none of her own, studying said important people, spending a bit here and there, and then leaving, quite unobserved, and going back to her well hidden camp. By now, she had a good idea on who did what in the town, where the power centers were...and who. A little minor alterations to her appearance voice, not all magical, had made it easy to remain unnoticed by the locals. After all, what was one more halfling wandering through on her travels, or sometimes his, spending a bit, before heading out?
She'd especially liked Merrygold Brightshine. Pleasant, amiable, intelligent enough to present a challenge and perhaps even good in bed. She'd spent nearly an hour watching him, talked to him for about 10 minutes, more than enough to get a read on him.
ooc: She'd like to know the following on Merrygold 1) Motivations; 2) Allies/foes; 3) Romantic situation
And she'd satisfied herself that her pursuers were not in town, nor had agents in town. Her Goddess was notorious for her attitude of 'What have you done for me lately?' and while the little job she'd pulled in Helm's Hold had gone smoothly, one never knew. That was the way the Goddess liked. Bella did too.
And she'd not neglected to spend time studying her new associates. In fact, she was following one now, the Occultant by the way he fondled his abacus. She snorts as a skeleton ambles up beside the man. Clearly, he had summoned the creature from his lack of reaction. Goddess...how she loved her Obviator Lens. A good hundred paces behind the man and she could've watched his calculations had he made any.
As they approach the franchise-building, she puts the lens away and increases her speed so she arrives just a few moments after the lizardman.
"Hullooo. I be Bella, yer new Obviater," she says, breathing hard. "Sorry, but it were not easy findin' this here place." She looks at the lizardman. "And what be yer name, me friend?" Bella's all smiles and charm. "I be called Bella O'Thornville...not that me home was Thornville, not bein' sure that's even place, come tuh think on it...that's just me last name."
Bella's a bit tall as halflings go, especially the women, standing a little over 3' in height. She's got a bright shock of red hair and the proverbial green eyes to go with them, and just a smattering of freckles. On her hips are a pair of rapiers and a dagger is strapped to her left thigh. On her back is a backpack and a short bow.
A tall, fairly solidly built githyanki wearing half plate armor with a greatsword over his shoulder and a spellbook hanging from a strap at his side comes down to meet the new arrivals. He nods a greeting, smiling faintly at the thought that these unusual two will fit right in with himself, with his yellow skin, close cut red hair and black eyes, and with the goliath, tabaxi and tiefling that make up the rest of the group. Not the most inconspicuous of groups. "I am Seruk, the Loremonger. Welcome to the new offices."
A slender, red skinned tiefling of about average height looks up from where she was sitting, boots up on a table, tuning a lute. She stands and walks over to the newcomers and gives a dramatic bow. "Name's Aria. Documancer and bard. Welcome to our ragtag little family!"
Crexibis gives a slight bow to each of them in turn and pulls out his Abacus. "I'm to be your Occultant, but I have a different way of doing things than other Occultants so I ask that you be understanding of my methods." With that, Crexibis takes a deep breath and slowly slides all of the skulls on his counter to one end of the device. Whispering a command word, the beads lock into place and the lizardfolk turns back to the group with a strange conviction in his eyes.

“The mark of a successful DM is when you have caused more player deaths with doors than dragons, demons, or devils.”
Bella nods to each in turn, smiling at them and also assessing their strengths and weaknesses. After all, she might soon have to fight with these people and she needed to know what they were capable of.
"Anyone home?" A familiar voice calls from outside, in its always-gruff manner. Anyone who has been around Leilon for more than an hour would recognize the voice as that of The dwarf Grizzelda Copperwraught, who the settlers call “the Growler.” Those who have been here for a few days would know that she is the defacto leader of the settlers of Leilon, and a member of the town council.
Without waiting for any response, the dwarf herself steps inside, glancing to both the original members of the franchise, as well as the newcomers.
"Some new recruits?" The Growler asks with a raised eyebrow. "Good, good indeed." She frowns as she glances around the building. "Ye have made a good deal of progress here. Hope ye are nearly done, we be needing these builders back to work on other projects as soon as may be."
With a wave of her hand though, she waves that comment away before anyone can respond. "Not why I be here though." She explains. "The council be needing a group to help out with escorting a flock of goats from here to Phandalin. We voted and be thinking ye lot would be our best option."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bella sizes up the dwarf. Naturally, she'd seen her around town the past few days and had some understanding of the woman's position and importance. She decided to keep her mouth shut and let one of the established franchise members respond. In fact, she allowed herself to melt into the shadows.
"Welcome newcomers, hopefully you are all as talented as our last companions." Reginald says to the new recruits. "I am called Reginald."
"Afternoon Grizzelda, and yes we should be done paying all your workers shortly for the work they are providing us." He says with a bit of a smirk on his face. "Now on to the business at hand that you bring us. How many goats would you want us to escort and I assume we will also be escorting the goat herder as well? As much as Last Tree adores his pets I would prefer that one extremely familiar with the goats come along fore the trip."
Herding goats? Is that what he had signed up for? Crexibis leans back on his heels and listens to the conversation keenly. He is trying to pick up on any innuendo or subtle remark that might allude to the fact that this is all a metaphor. If he doesn't find anything, he quickly loses interest and moves to start picking around the place. He doesn't damage anything but he pokes at almost everything that he sees just to see if it will react.

“The mark of a successful DM is when you have caused more player deaths with doors than dragons, demons, or devils.”
Aria frowns for a moment at the thought of escorting goats back to Phandelin, but as soon as the expression appears it is gone again. "Is there anything special about these goats? Or are they just normal?"
Bella hid her amusement at her companions obvious irritation with the job. If that was the task, that was the task. All the griping and expressions in the world wouldn't change it. Of course, she doubted any of them had learned that lesson as she had. If escorting goats and goatherds was the job, she'd do it as well as she could. Maybe she could nick one or two, sell them for a bit of extra coin on the side.
"Yes they be goats." The Growler says in her well-known surly growl. "No, they not be normal goats, but giant goats." She shrugs as she paces a bit in the room. "Our own Pinchwit Wigglehoof raises these giant goats ye see. Her goats be excellent producers of milk and meat, and even their goat-hair is highly valued." She stops and looks to each of you closely, her observant glare seeing even those who try to shrink into the shadows. "Ye be an adventuring franchise aint ye?" She asks as she thrusts her chin out a bit. "Does ye be having one of those there documancers, or whatever ye be calling them? They can put together a contract or such and we be getting down to business."
Bella stares at Grizzelda, the 'Growler', taking her measure, using her obviator skills to get a read on her:
ooc: She'd like to know the following on Grizzelda; 1) Motivations; 2) Allies/foes; 3) Fears. Also, you didn't respond to her read on Merrygold: ooc: She'd like to know the following on Merrygold 1) Motivations; 2) Allies/foes; 3) Romantic situation
Grizzelda... 1) Motivations: Work hard and make sure those around do likewise. 2) Allies/foes: allies would be Merrygold Brightshine and Valdi Estapaar. Foes would be mostly Sergeant Hazz Yorrum, the leader of the guards of Leilon, and probably Gallio Elibro, a powerful wizard and ranking member of the Order of the Many-Starred Cloak. 3) Fears: Failing in her duty to make Leilon thrive once more.
Merrygold... 1) Motivations: To aid those in need. 2) Allies/foes: Same as Grizzelda likely. 3) Romantic situation: single.
"Yeah, that would be me," Aria says suddenly in a much better mood. Something in her infernal blood just loved a good contract. She reached into her Documancy Satchel at her hip, pulling out a fresh contract, ready for sighing with a dramatic flair. "Its a fairly standard contract. States that we'll be transporting your goods from one location to another. Goods in this case being giant goats."
