Stigr looks back at Trin, “I think it depends on what my imp sees. If they’re easy to surprise, covert, if they’re fortified in place, there’s no point in being sneaky.”
"isn't the point just to map the place? I feel like that could be sneaky regardless. I know they're goblins and all, and we'll probably end up in a fight and maybe we'd be doing someone a service clearing them out, but aside from folks like us, who are they hurting down here? Maybe we can map it out, surreptitiously, and leave them to their own devices."
In this monstrous market live forty goblins. Half of them are guards, and the other half are traders.
Detritus. Trash and debris litter the floor.
Bas-Reliefs. The walls are adorned with bas-reliefs that once depicted dwarves carrying supplies. The dwarves’ faces have been chipped away and replaced with cartoonish goblin heads drawn in charcoal.
... (assuming everyone hears what the imp has found) "We should check out those banging sounds. What if they've got someone locked up? Who knows what they're planning to do...?" Trin stops mid-sentence.
"Did he say forty Goblins?" He asks, pausing between the sounds of the number, emphasizing the latter in sarcastic incredulity.
“Talk? Ya can’t be serious. But if ya’d like to try than I suggest someone with a smooth tongue for these devils. Can ya speak goblin? I think my presence may also be a hindrance, based on what those statues ya described. Maybe me and Shadowlight should hang back...enough to stay outta sight but close enough to charge in” Rurik says to the group.
"I can bestow upon someone the ability to talk to whatever is before them and they will understand when you talk as well." Maximus chimes in, "I do say we talk to these goblins first, I do not trust goblins myself, but it does appear to be some kind of market. We could definitely learn about the surrounding dungeons and they might even have maps for sale, which would greatly reduce the number of rooms we have to go visit and the potential dangers within."
"A market yes, but perhaps meant for goblins and their kin. I'm not sure they'd be very friendly to us, as Rurik mentioned. Maybe if we can get one goblin to come to us without alerting the others, we can talk to him alone in relative safety. I can whisper a message from forty yards Though I do not speak Goblin, it seems that may not be the obstacle it was. Though, maybe I can try Common first and then if it doesn't work, switch to Goblin. What say ye, all?"
Stigr thinks for a moment, "I can't speak goblin, but I can speak through my familiar while its invisible, we could use that to decide whether or not they'd be willing to talk. But I've never really dealt with goblins, so I've no idea if that's a good idea."
“Alrighty, maybe try the message bit first and we can see how they’d react. It’d be easy to go from there. Can we set a trap or ambush up in case they come to us in a mob?”
Stigr will send the imp to the far side of whichever opening we would be entering from (if we're east of them, to the west side of the chamber, make sense?), and suddenly speak from its mouth, "Hello neighbors, do any of you happen to speak common?"
(I think you'd probably have the imp go to the market hall...)
Ceiling. This room has a soaring, 60-foot-high ceiling supported by two rows of stone pillars.
Goblin Vendors. The middle of the chamber is taken up by eight vendor stalls. Twenty-two goblins are here, sixteen vendors (two per stall) and six guards who stand in pairs near the three exits.
Throne. A granite throne stands against the north wall atop a rectangular stone dais. It is currentlyempty.
After Stigr's voice comes from his imp...
"Yes, speak common." One of the guards near the imp says, looking around for who is speaking.
Stigr, through the imp, continues speaking, moving his invisible imp about 10 feet above the guard, "I was curious, is this market for goblins only, or do you allow outsiders as well?"
"Well this is promising." Maximus says. "I wonder what kind of provisions they are selling? I could use some more food and then possibly some ink and paper."
Stigr shares the responses with the others, then cautiously moves closer to just in view of the goblins, speaking through the imp before he comes into view, "I am near, I will be approaching soon, please do not attack or I will respond in kind."
Stigr looks back at Trin, “I think it depends on what my imp sees. If they’re easy to surprise, covert, if they’re fortified in place, there’s no point in being sneaky.”

The imp finds...
Goblin Bazaar
In this monstrous market live forty goblins. Half of them are guards, and the other half are traders.
Detritus. Trash and debris litter the floor.
Bas-Reliefs. The walls are adorned with bas-reliefs that once depicted dwarves carrying supplies. The dwarves’ faces have been chipped away and replaced with cartoonish goblin heads drawn in charcoal.
Noise. Banging noises can be heard to the north.
Stgir returns to his sense after repeating what he's seen through the imp, "Looks like a market. Would it be worth it to try and talk to them?"
“Talk? Ya can’t be serious. But if ya’d like to try than I suggest someone with a smooth tongue for these devils. Can ya speak goblin? (Just waiting for you to decide upon your action. Let me know when you are ready to move forward...)
"Well funneling them through the tunnel is not a bad idea, that way we don't get mobbed." Maximus offers and is ready to go.
Stigr will send the imp to the far side of whichever opening we would be entering from (if we're east of them, to the west side of the chamber, make sense?), and suddenly speak from its mouth, "Hello neighbors, do any of you happen to speak common?"

"All welcome." The goblin guard says still trying to find the source of the voice, now craining his head way back to look up. "Who be is you?"
"Well this is promising." Maximus says. "I wonder what kind of provisions they are selling? I could use some more food and then possibly some ink and paper."

Samantha nods. "I'll only attack if we're being attacked."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
“Ya can’t trust a goblin...but some replenishment of supplies sounds good.”
Rurik grimaces as he thinks of dwarves statues and thrones.
“I will follow your lead and do my best to keep my attitude in check. But if they step out of line...” and he lets the unspoken threat sit there.
