"I don't think we have time for that Morinne" Walt would say with an exhausted sigh. "I'll play a game with ya later but for now let's get moving... I'd say we are burning daylight but I imagine after spending some time down here... day and night wont matter much" He would say as he Followed just a step behind Rurik. "Nice dog... Used to have one myself years ago..." Walt would say with the first hint of a smile as he looks down to the mastiff. As the tall aged cleric walks, the bullseye lantern hanging from his belt casts a long bright light in front of him, gently swaying back and forth with each step.
Donkey responds to the inquiry" that would be great if you can have grunt sign now, I gave him an oath earlier until we were able. And Vaden is not really a part of the company, he is a do nothing slugg that sat out every time action was required. He deserved to get beaned with a rock. He is lucky we didn't find a pit or a closet on the way back, he might have gone missing in action" he winks to the boss.
" So far this Mad Mage seems to have been a vagrant or something. They only loot is 12 gp, this pile of weapons and armor, a snake skull, a Kenku skull, the skull of a long dead adventurer named Nimwraith, and the best piece of treasure yet...."
Donkee has Grunt pull the frozen, dead carcass of the brain puppy out of his bag to show them.
" check out this thing! I am going to have it stuffed and mounted. Ever seen one of these freaky things before?"
"Ever tried cookin one of those there? If's brains, it's to be goopy, 'ey? I've only had a bite since mornin'. How about we fry ourselves up some brains before headin' too deep inna dungeon? Add a little flour, ya know?"
At Donkey's prompting Barinthus reaches into the satchel he had claimed, and after a moment of concentrating on producing an intern contract, he pulls out the proper paperwork and hands it over to Donkey saying, "useful thing this satchel it can produce most of the basic contracts we might need, just have him sign or leave his mark in the appropriate line and it will be official." Of course it was a fairly standard intern contract that essentially promised to give lots of practical experience that could be used in future employment with the exchange that the intern work for the company for free. There were some stipends included for basic living costs as the company wasn't heartless...
"From my understanding isn't the first layer occupied by criminal elements, prisoners who managed to survive by sticking to the less dangerous levels," Barinthus says not overly informed about Undermountain beyond it was dangerous but lucrative. When Donkey brings out the strange brain creature Barinthus looks impressed and fascinated by how such a thing could function...how did it eat or perceive the world. However at the mention of eating it he couldn't help but go slightly pale at the thought.
"told ya to grab a bite to eat before we left HQ, and now we have to listen to yee belly aching" Walt would say shaking his head. He would quickly sheath his sword and pull out a small piece of dried meat and toss it to her. "There.. that should hold ya a bit" he would add before putting his rations away and drawing his sword once more. As walt watches the goblin get sworn in, he would look to Barinthis and nod. "Make sure he signs or marks or whatever he needs to do in all the right spots. I know you know what yer doin, I just want to make sure the organization gets a piece of whatever that little guy collects down here." One the paper work was signed, Walt would continue to walk onward into the undermountain.
"Well done young lad. Headquarters will gladly take any of the weapons we dont need. The more we stuff in yer bag the more we get paid. I would recommend everyone grab any weapons they might want before shipping the rest to HQ." Walt would say looking to the kenku. "It is always good to have a spare weapon to two.. As a matter of fact, I wouldnt mind a few of those Javelins if you dont mind" Walt would add. The old cleric would then look over to the kenku skull and then back to the hoards person. "Dont worry, I'll keep you from ending up like that one" He would finish, gesturing to the skull.
S.T. coos quietly as he bird-hops over to the loot and takes out two Scimitars for himself and return he draws his rapier and lays it in the loot. He looks up at Walt and in Walt's voice he says, "Take...Javelins"
Then he says in Secundus' voice, "Hopscotch Barglefluster, Hopscotch Barglefluster, Hopscotch Barglefluster" he hops around and coos
Rurik's voice, "Time for you ugly bastards to..." Donkee's "Protect" local shopkeep's "STOP THIEF!" Rurik's "he's... precious" Donkee's "Time for a new tradition... YEE HAW!"

“As a former mercenary I can assure you I intend to do my part in keeping our group alive, mostly by eradicating threats with violence...I suggest I not be in charge of negotiations,” Barinthus says with a slightly joking tone while giving a slight smirk. If the loot he doesn’t take anything feeling his own weapons were good enough.
Ok... You travel back through the hall of fiendish carvings, and to the pillar cavern, now what do you wish to do? There are three other exits, the Southern one was the one you took before, and still have more to explore in that direction, there is the Western exit and the Northern exit completely unexplored...
“I believe it is best to finish the job and that it is worth exploring further where you left off,” Barinthus says noting the bodies and other signs of combat, taking interest in the scorch marks.
"Orrr, Aa could probly use this'n might like them battlements, ey?" Ellya grabs two squarish shields and hangs one on her duffel, lashing it on with some rope. She carries the other overhead. "Whichever route gets us closer to gettin paid. Lead on."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Let's go south... If you all don't like it we can take a vote, but my vote counts as double..." Walt would say looking to the southern tunnel. "if we are going to make a map... we are going to do it right" he would add as he begins moving down the southern tunnel. As he steps that direction, listening to his companions as to the safest route to take, he would mutter a few words under his breath as the amulet around his neck glows ever so slightly as he cast guidance on himself. "Be on the look out for traps and threats.." Walt would say to the others as he keeps his eyes peeled when they begin to encounter parts of the dungeon that they had not yet seen.
Perception check for threats and traps! 13 plus 4 from guidance plus 4 because of my dragon mark!

Barinthus nods in agreement and follows along while also keeping an eye out for traps and secret doors. As he did so he couldn't help but think back to stories of his ancestors who were said to almost be able to automatically spot such things and couldn't help but think that couldn't be true.
As they head back to the last chamber where the squished brain puppies are, Donkee will chat it up with Grunt, even though he isnt as talkative. Donkee will tell him an exaggerated story about fighting the ooze in the useless secret room and then will fill him in on his buddy, the donkey named Hole. He will also share another mushroom honey bar with Grunt. He will offer some to Walt, Ellya, and Barinthus as well.
" it's a super secret recipe that no one else knows. I inherited this ancient tome titled The Magic of Mushroom Cookerization written by a guy named Abernath the infernal. It has the best recipes."
Walt would mutter a prayer once move before taking the shady looking bar from his new companion as he cast guidance. He would would take the bar and brake off a small piece before placing it in his mouth. "looks... nice....." he would say as he closes his mouth. "Tastes...... ..." he wouldn't finish his sentence, choosing to just keep walking and looking for threats.

"Kenku skull," S.T. says in Donkee's voice as he looks sadly as he points a wing at his own head.
"Spend some time" he says in a newly heard voice as he pulls out some parchment and begins to write down the list of loot.
He shows Walt a beautifully written note. "Loot!"
