"Thank you Rurik, and yea sleeping here for the night would be best." As Maximus lies down and then retreats into his shell for the night. You can barely hear him speak out, "Knock on my shell if you need me to take a watch."
As the imp moves down the passage he comes upon several of these creatures....

You recognize the type of creature from battles you had on the previous level. They block the path southward and the imp waits for further instructions. There are 5 of the normal gricks and 1 of the grick alphas.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"The gricks don't know we're here, yet. We should use this to our advantage. If they're clustered together, I can use a fireball spell or slow spell. Slow can stop them from biting once they've grabbed someone with a tentacle, but I can use it even when allies are in the same area. Fireball, on the other hand, does not discriminate; it will immolate friend and foe alike. If we all travel there together, I can cast past you, or...."
Trin draws his blade, and begins to gracefully move about, slicing and thrusting through the air as he bounds down the hall (Ooc: he has activated Bladesong). As he reaches the final turn, he prepares to cast. Leaping from behind the stone wall, Trin identifies the alpha grick and makes him the target or his spell. He fires a tiny spark from his fingertips and it zips toward the alpha grick, like a still-lit cigarette butt, striking the grick on the neck. The grick shrieks irately before the tiny spark explodes into a massive fireball! (Ooc: 32 fire damage to all creatures within a 20' sphere)

"I c-c-c-c-could d-d-d-definitely u-s-s-se a r-r-r-respite!" Trin manages to say, teeth chattering as he shivers, rubbing his arms.

Stigr will poke through the spellbook, "What was that all about? Anyway, yes, we can rest if you'd like. I'll take first watch."

"Seems like as good a place to rest as any." Melady says, taking a seat.

"If anyone would like, I do have a tiny hut that sleeps nine comfortably. It's always cozy and dry inside, which sounds really appealing right now."
Trin performs a ritual to summon the tiny hut.
With a four-hour trance, the spell still in effect for four more, Trin will try to study the spellbook recovered earlier.
“Sleep it is, thanks for the hut. Shadowlight and I can help with second watch,” Rurik comments as he moves into the hut with the mastiff.

Samantha nods, gripping her axe. "Agreed. I could use some sleep."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
The spellbook contains the following spells:

5th level: cone of cold

With the hut you don't need to keep watches. You have an uneventful night and wake in the morning refreshed.
"So, back the way we came then?" Melady asks, as there doesn't seem much else to do just now.
Let me know if anyone is doing anything before heading out.
Maximus emerges form his shell and stretches. "Thank you for the hut Trin, that was the best sleep I have had in ages. Are we ready ton continue on?"
Stigr will nod and send his imp back to the area where they came in and have it wait there for them, invisible of course.
Rurik and Shadowlight join the group towards the front.
The group heads back out of the wizard's home, the wizard freed from his prison but now dead on the floor of his own bedroom.
The imp heads out before you, moving back to the pump chamber, then down the hall towards the stairs you first came into this level by.

Watching him race off, Stigr will glance at the others, "Well, that answers that question." And he'll head off to support Trin.
Maximus will charge after the others down the hall waiting to see what happens with the fireball before deciding on what to do.
