Stigr just shrugs, "I'm good. Anyone know how long we've been down here? Both altogether and how long we've been awake? Doesn't feel like too long, but that might just be me." He'll then send his imp off to start scouting the other passage, periodically checking in through its senses.
“Well I sure wouldn’t mind a long rest either. And honestly no, I’ve lost track of days and hours down here. I honestly don’t know anymore. Just glad we have our map maker so we can get out if need be,” Rurik says as he gets up and walks over to Sam.
”Ya poor lass, ya do have just a few scrapes don’t ya,” he says with a smirk and a chuckle as he lays his hand on her shoulder.
(Rurik heals Sam for 20hp out of his Lay on Hands pool)
Trin's familiar heads down the shute to check it out...
Gibbering Mouther. A gibbering mouther wanders the hall to the east, attacking other creatures on sight.
Equipment. Overturned mine carts and discarded mining equipment lay scattered across the floor.
Altar. A red stone altar covered with small, dirty handprints stands in the northern alcove.
There is an open passage to the south and a closed door to the West.
Trin, we need you to make a save for your familiar...
Gibbering. The mouther babbles incoherently while it can see any creature and isn't incapacitated. Each creature that starts its turn within 20 feet of the mouther and can hear the gibbering must succeed on a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the creature can't take reactions until the start of its next turn and rolls a d8 to determine what it does during its turn. On a 1 to 4, the creature does nothing. On a 5 or 6, the creature takes no action or bonus action and uses all its movement to move in a randomly determined direction. On a 7 or 8, the creature makes a melee attack against a randomly determined creature within its reach or does nothing if it can't make such an attack.
Owlix flies back up the chute and lands on Teinaster's arm. As he comes out of the trance and hears the discussion, he states the provision of the hut, then provides a description of what he has seen and heard. "If we go down there, we need a way to take that thing out, fast."
Ooc: do you want Dragon's breath on the imp? (It can wait until after the rest) otherwise any other suggestions?
Stigr glances down the shute, "There's still more up here for now. Why don't we finish up and see if there's a better way down, if nothing else, I'd like to be able to come back up without too much difficulty.
"What would the head office want us to do?" Trin asks aloud, casting augury (documancer's 'fluent in boss' feature) he writes on a memo pad, "We have not finished exploring the first level, should we explore the next level down now?" And sticks it in a pocket of his satchel, which begins to produce a series of if being and buzzes.
Stigr shrugs, "I say finish this floor first. If they want a map, I'm sure they'd prefer it to be more or less complete and not with large gaps in it."
After a refreshing sleep, Rurik gets up and enjoys a meal and some drink. Listening to the group about the next steps, he then adds, “Well, I agree. A full map would probably bring a fuller pouch of gold. So I’m game to finish this level out as well. Where do we have to go?”
He stands and makes sure all his gear is packed. Picking up his sword and shield he prepares to walk towards a new day of adventure.
Trin leafs through his notes, nodding as he reads. "I see here where it indicates drawing a map... invaluable, yes. What catches my eye, though, is the three outstanding commissions, particularly the one which a previous documancer was seemingly transferred and demoted for neglecting, the alabaster throne of Syglaeth of Illefarn."
Returning the folio to his satchel, Trin continues, "We could make a complete map of Undermountain, and that would be a great product, but so too would a map showing an accurate route to the lower levels, and around the charted dungeon, written only 'here be dragons!'" Trin thinks for a while, his brow furrowed. "If we explore the rest of this level and we hear back from the office wondering why we haven't made it to Skullport yet, I won't be to blame for it. I'll note my objection in the minutes." He scratches some words in a small notepad and returns it to his breast pocket. "All right, then. Point the way."
Trin gets a response... "Just keep doing what you are doing..." Nothing helpful from head office it seems.
You would also know that the shute down is not to the next level, it only goes down a few feet, not the hundreds of feet you know there are between levels of undermountain. Nothing you do from this room can get you to the next level of undermountain, this is not a path between levels.
After coming out if his worg trance, Trin replies: "If we want a long rest, I can ensure our safety for two standard trances (8 hours) as before."
Stigr just shrugs, "I'm good. Anyone know how long we've been down here? Both altogether and how long we've been awake? Doesn't feel like too long, but that might just be me."

Owlix Wis save: 3

"Well, it sounds like most of us could use a rest, let me call forth the ephemeral tiny hut."
You all get a long rest in safety. What is your plan once you finish the long rest?
"What would the head office want us to do?" Trin asks aloud, casting augury (documancer's 'fluent in boss' feature) he writes on a memo pad, "We have not finished exploring the first level, should we explore the next level down now?" Yawning, Maximus pokes his hole back out of his shell, "That was very much needed, shall we continue our exploration?"
Stigr shrugs, "I say finish this floor first. If they want a map, I'm sure they'd prefer it to be more or less complete and not with large gaps in it."
Maximus, "I agree and having incomplete maps would not sit well with me at all."

Samantha raises her arms. "Yes, let's finish this level."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Trin leafs through his notes, nodding as he reads. "I see here where it indicates drawing a map... invaluable, yes. "Well looks like we have our orders, continue to explore the level we are on and then work our way down." Maximus says.
Rurik chuckles, “Well if ya wana call dem orders, then let’s get a move on. Which way map maker?”
Which way you guys headed?
Stigr will send his imp ahead as he starts backtracking to the earlier turn off they'd bypassed.
