((Don't worry about Sihnion's health, the hit points granted by Wild Shape are like temporary hit points - if the lizard 'dies', he'll just revert to being a dwarf))
(Sihnion is wildshaped, he's using temp HP and has suffered no real damage)
The faint sounds of battle are light, you cannot be sure which tunnel they're originating from as they bounce around, but you are sure that they're not coming from the tunnel the Apex descended.
Tamoda, despite having watched the Apex go down the tunnel and walking in puddles of blood, you are unsure if it went this way. After a few minutes of walking down the tunnel, you reach a point where the path forward is submerged under water, with signs the Apex lizard came through here.

Okie doke! I'll just doff me armour, tie my rope around me, and I'll be on my way with my quarterstaff. Who would like to hold the end of the rope? 2 tugs means all ok... 3 tugs mean pull like hell...

The tunnel is long, but not a problem for you as you swim further down, clambering on the rock walls of the tunnel to boost your speed. After a little while, the tunnel curves up, and your head breaks the surface of a small pool in a large cavern. The cavern itself is pocketed by stalagmites and stalagmites, and in the furthest corner you can see the Apex licking it's wounds, as 3 of it's kin scream and look around.
(Small applause from me for the planning on this.)
As the Lizards whip their heads around towards your direction, your cohorts pull you back through the water Tamoda, and you are quickly brought back to them.
"Glad to see you're alright." Thasla remarks after Tamoda is pulled to safety. "Are they coming after you or do we have to go through the water as well? What's in there?"
She's there all right, licking her wounds. And she's got 3 more littles, they the ones as seeing me. So I left. The chamber they're in is partly underwater. I can make the swim in my armour, and I'll help you guys get there as best I can, but we won't have the chance to put your armour on when we get there. So you ought to decide know if you're wearing armour or not. Sorry...
Good news is, I've seen no signs of any fire breathing....
"It'll take me a while to get this chain mail off, and it's heavy enough that I might not be able to swim through with it on. Maybe we should lure them out here."
@DM: Does swimming in heavy armor have any penalties?
This way, down the passage way she fled....
Though we need tp keep an eye on Sihnion, he looks in need of some heals
Tamoda sets forth at a normal pace, keeping an eye out for signs of Big Momma's recent passage...

o Bloody Hell! Me thinks ole One Eye is being tricksy! Do we swim this, or keep looking down another tunnel?
“Well... how about you swim down there a ways and tell us if there’s air on the other side.” Grim says dryly.

"I'll hold it. Be careful, Tamoda." Thasla says, taking the rope.
Thank you, Thasla, careful is why I'm bringing the quarter staff.
And the Ranger dives in...

Tamoda dives back under the surface, and start swimming back the way he came, tugging 3 times on the rope when he gets to the curve...
“Three tugs - pull like hell!”, exclaims Sihnion, forgetting momentarily that he is a lizard and that the sound comes out as a strangled roar.
Thasla feels the tugs and pulls Tamoda back.

Grim is watching for lizards to burst up out of the water now.

Sihnion the shrugs nonchalantly, in a lizardly fashion, at the discussion of whether or not to wear armour.

Luring them here? That'll be good, if we can arrange it, yes
