The Apex swings a razor sharp claw at Xandar, but it misses thanks to Xandar's footwork. As he starts to smile, he notices that the Apex has bitten Ahkota, dropping him to 0HP and putting him in a Grappled state.
Grim's swing finds no purchase, misjudging the distance in the steam.
Thasla restores Ahkota to consciousness, who is rather displeased to see he is in the jaws of the Apex. While Tamoda tries to wail on the creature to little effect, Ahkota tries to stab the Apex.

Sihnion will cast healing word as a bonus action to heal Ahkota for 6, then produce flame, hurling the flickering flame at the Apex: Attack: 11 fire damage: 2
Healed by the magic, some of Ahkota's wounds start to close. Unfortunately the flame sputters out in the steam flickers out before it reaches its target.
Xandar pulls out his warhammer, and tries to swing it into the beast.

Xandar is safe from the beast's claw attack, blocked by his hammer, but the same cannot be said for Ahkota, who is swallowed whole!
A swallowed target is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside. The swallowed target takes 3d6 acid damage at the start of each of the Apex's turns. The Apex can have only one target swallowed at a time.

Sihnion slips through the steam unharmed, as Thasla bursts through it, longsword swinging.
