"Guys why does that cat have two heads? I figured it was the head trauma and the alcohol last night that was making me see double" Staring at Jet she speak directly to the cat "Try anything weird like grow another head or tail and we can't be friends anymore got it" scratching his ears lightly.
"Now can everyone hurry up so we can get paid please" before resting her pounding head of the cool table.
Gorarel finishes his last bite of food, stands up and says: "I completely agree, if we leave now, we can swing past Harbin, get the reward, and then go and see about these Dwarfs"
Sora wakes up and joins you at the table eventually and has a small bite as you make plans to leave.
Toblen approaches the 5 of you and says: "We had quite a night yesterday, haven't we? It's not usually that lively, but it helps when one of those travelling bards stop by. Speaking of stopping by, if you ever find yourselves in that forsaken area, Falcon’s Hunting Lodge is the only safe haven in Neverwinter Wood. It lies deep in the forest along a river’s edge, and wealthy nobles venture there to hunt while under Falcon’s protection. Falcon is a retired veteran of many wars, and he’ll offer free room and board to anyone who brings him a bottle of wine."

Sora awakens suddenly and painfully. The sun is already well up and the smell of a hearty breakfast fills the air. She makes herself look vaguely presentable and plods downstairs. Spotting the rest of the crew she wonders over and mumbles a good morning/apology. She manages to struggle down a couple of mouthfuls of toast whilst the rest of the group make the plan for the day.
Despite the grogginess she felt stronger, somehow.

Toblen rubs his chin going through the night's events in his mind. "He didn't get a room... Seen him leave with the bard. I've heard the bard left the town in the early hours, maybe your friend left with him."
Gorarel sighs and turns to his companions "Well we are all adults, we can all make the decision to move forward with this or leave. I think we may need to continue without Gramm, many lives are at stake in the local area. Is everyone okay with continuing?"
"Sure why not - more reward money for me."Liliana replies, standing up she declares dramatically "I wish him and the creepy bard all the best in their new life together - may they not become the dragons favorite chew toy".
You finish your breakfasts and make your way to the town hall. Harbin thanks you and slips 30 gold pieces under the door... one by one.
The job boards holds the old notice from last time and a new one:
Dwarven Excavation Quest. “Dwarf prospectors found ancient dwarven ruins in the mountains southwest of here, and have been working an archaeological dig seeking treasure and relics. They need to be warned that a white dragon has moved into the area. Take the warning to them, then return to Townmaster Harbin Wester to collect a reward of 60 gp.”
Gnomengarde Quest. “A clan of reclusive rock gnomes resides in a small network of caves in the mountains to the southeast. The gnomes of Gnomengarde are known for their magical inventions, and they might have something with which to defeat the dragon. Get whatever you can from them. If you bring back something useful and don’t want to keep it for yourselves, Townmaster Harbin Wester will pay you 60 gp for it.”
Feeling her left eye twitch Liliana turns on Gorarel and states in a hushed whisper. "Please - for all that is holy let me break into this room and see what the hell is going on. I'll even take breaking into the guys house but I need to know why he's so gods damned paranoid" Before snatching her 6 gold from the door.
"I still fancy seeing the dwarven ruins if everyone's up for it" she says to the remainder of the group
Sora took her share of the gold and squinted at the board, her head still throbbing. Both quests seemed at odds with the peace and quiet she currently craved.
Gnomes. There was a race that were a little too upbeat for Sora's liking. She'd once met a Gnome in the Ruined City who had lost everything; family, friends, possessions. His home. Still smiling and humming to himself as he scoured the streets for junk to sell. She'd helped him of course, but was unnerved by the whole experience.
Then there were the Dwarves. They were valiant no doubt, but so inexplicably noisy for a race so short. She cast a sideways glance at Sindrall as she recalled his singing from the day before. Still, she'd met a lot of Dwarves over the years and found them to be very interesting. Perhaps the ruins wouldn't be so bad after all.
Dwarven Ruins sounds like a good plan to me! she replied, hoping she sounded more upbeat than she felt.
Sindrall took his share of the reward and listened to Liliana and Sora, quite pleased that they had suggested the party head to the dwarven ruins, it would be good to be amongst his kin once more.
Aye the ruins is a good opportunity for us, it will be good to be amongst the noise and liveliness of fellow dwarves once more
Gorarel turns to Lilliana: "If you are quick, you can do what you like. Just don't involve me. This is my home and though there are some people I reckon have interesting loots, I cannot get involved at risk of my family finding out."
He adds: "...and don't even think of breaking into my house."
Turning to the rest of the group, the tone of warning gone: "I agree that we should go and see what's up with the Dwarven Excavation. Might as well stick to our original plan."
As you leave the Townmaster's Hall, you see a couple of people walk by and the two children who ran past you yesterday are now throwing stones at a tree in a game of accuracy. Gorarel recognises Jon and Lala, the town's twins.
When they see you, they quickly approach and Lala says: "Thank you for saving lady Gwynn. She cured my brother when he was ill." Jon nods and goes to Liliana who looked the most childlike of the group, extending a hand closed around something. He drops a ring into Liliana's hand, then he bolts, Lala following him, both giggling happily.
Looking at the ring, you can you see it's silver with an intricate wavy pattern and has small blue stones attached all around it.
You walk awhile down the same path that took you to Umbrage Hill, then head towards SW. This takes you right by the beech grove you've seen yesterday. It looks roughly circular, 100 ft in diameter, and you see no movement this time. As you get close to it, Jet starts making long meows, looking in its direction.

Wait a bit, everyone. Thilael extended his arm and in a few seconds, Fayeth, the snowy owl landed almost on the shoulder looking curiously at everyone in turn. Thilael whispered something into the owl's ear then it flew towards the grove.
Fayeth will go and check the grove. There must be something going on there. Our two-headed friend over here thinks so too.

The foliage is pretty dense, and Fayeth does not catch any movement, apart from some sparrows and warblers in the upper branches. There is a small clearing towards the centre of the grove with a small circle of stones, possibly a camp fire place, and something brown on the ground next to it.
Twisting her new ring around her finger Liliana turns to Jet, scratching his ears fondly "Ok there buddy remember the agreement - no funny stuff or you'll be missing a head."
"I can scout ahead and see if there's anything worth while - I'll keep to the trees but if I scream come running ok". Liliana heads towards the clearing - staying within the cover of the trees and cautiously pulls out her daggers from her pack.

Clearing his throat, Thilael started speaking as everybody was preparing to leave: Hmm, aren't we forgetting someone? Did anybody see Gramm?
Gorarel approaches Toblen "Haven't see our friend Gramm this morning?"
Gorarel glances at Jet out of suspicion
"The Dragonborn?"

I need Perception and Stealth checks for Liliana and anyone who follows, also at what distance you follow Liliana. It's 50 ft to the clearing.
