You identify that the green viscous liquid is Dragon's bile and that the powder is Powdered Nightshade. You know that this setup is one step away from brewing some sort of potion but you don't know which substance nor the amount to add.
As <Squelch> is dividing the piles of loot out, Grum awkwardly reaches into his pouch and pulls out the 50gp he found in the cistern. He adds 10gp to piles 2-6, shrugs sheepishly to <Squelch> and takes pile 6.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to withhold loot from you all. It's just second nature to fend for myself. Kind of an automatic instinct."
"I should check with the others. Come, Droop." Garr leads Droop back to the others.
"Oh, thanks for calculating and diving the loot for us. Hmm..." Not really sure about the gems, Garr picks pile 5.
"By the way, are any of you guys good with brewing potions? It looks like Glasstaff has nearly finished brewing one in his workshop but I'm not sure what to add to finish it."
"Agreed, Grum. I'm new to this business too. On the subject of sharing..." Garr places the sword he found among the piles."I'm not sure I'm the best with this weapon, can any of you wield it well?"
"I've had longsword training, but I was never the best with it."The scout can't help but admire the decorated weapon, but she makes no move to take it.
(OOC: I don't think any of us are geared towards using a Longsword. Even if it's a +1 longsword, I think we all have better options more suited to our characters)
"Perhaps this sword has more value in the hands of a local, given that it may be something of an heirloom of the town? Or Sildar might appreciate it, given that most of his possessions were taken by the Cragmaws. Certainly our retrieving it would grant us some local favour, at least."
"Droop, how did you end up here? The only goblins we've come across nearby were the Cragmaws. Are you affiliated with them? Where do you intend to go now that you're free from Glasstaff and these bugbears?"
"Ummm I don't know. Maybe I go along the road and try and find some nice goblins... not those Cragmaw ones. They dont like Droop. They the ones that found Droop and told me to do all these mean things to people but it never made sense to Droop."
(If no ones helping Garr with the potions we can go ahead with the adventure, lemme know)
(How would we help? Just another Arcana check? I'll leave that to the more Arcana-minded!)
"We cleared the Cragmaws out of their caverns and killed Klarg, so you shouldn't have to worry about them so much. Are there more of them? They talked about a 'King Grol'. Do you know anything about him?"
(Yeah, would be another Arcana check and I would add advantage to the check if theyre also proficient with alchemist supplies. I'll wait a bit more before proceeding, lemme know if you wanna do anything else in the hideout too.)
(I'll leave it for Malthaza'ar to follow up on that Arcana check. In his conversation with the goblin, Grum is just trying to find out what Droop knows about the rest of the Cragmaws and King Grol - and if the goblin knows anything of them, Grum will push to ask what kind of conditions Gundren might be kept in, since we know he's been taken to Grol.)
Brandor appears to be lightly snoring somewhere to the side of the cavern. The exertion of the day having caused him to conk out. Though the more keen eyed might notice the empty ale flask from earlier slipped in behind him.
(Sorry guys-- I may have dropped the ball with story pacing.)
Garr yeets the mercury into the concoction and hits the lever. You know something has happened as it starts to bubble and glow for about 10 seconds before turning into the similar gray liquid that you saw in the other potion. The bowl empties slowly, drip by drip into the bottle underneath until it is full. You now have another potion of invisibility.
You all leave the Redbrand hideout and the Trescendar Manor with the your captives, four Redbrand thugs and the leader Glasstaff. They do not resist and have accepted complete defeat as you move them along with you on the road back to town.
Grum: Along the road you see, following behind you in the shadow of the treeline, an adolescent wolf. In fact, it is the same wolf from the Cragmaw's 'eating cave', however he is alone and not with the rest of his pack. He comes close to you but wary of the others and looks like he may dart off at any time.
You all arrive back at Phandalin, the Redbrand threat now taken care of and the spoils of your excapade lining your pockets and pouches. Upon arrival a man sees you all, waves to you and heads to the townmaster's hall. You also see Sildar outside the hall where the two guards that are usually there are, however they are currently missing.
You guys are now Level 3! Feel free to roll hit die here (or take avg) and upgrade your character :)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
When Grum sees the wolf, he will excuse himself from the party and approach it. If it lets him, he will feed it a scrap of meat from his rations and roughly let the scruff of its neck, before sending it on its way.
"It is good to see you again, friend. I hope our paths cross again. Enjoy your freedom."
(Just hoping to bond with it, since I don't have a spell slot for speak with animals at the moment! If necessary, Animal Handling: 18)

RavenloftAnnihilationWith a shrug, Callie claims the third pile.
"No harm, no foul, Grum. I think we're all a little new to this, or at least, some of us are."
