You see the tracks appear to lead directly into the monastery front entrance, though they detour through the grass opposed to walking on the more conventional stairs. As you draw a bit closer, you can even hear faint voices from inside. Almost inaudible, and impossible to understand. But they're still voices.

Aldin gestures to the prints made in the grass. He knows that it was recent and that, obviously, they are still inside. The door would be too obvious and being found now would seriously complicate matters even more than they are bound to be.
Whomever is inside is not supposed to be there either however and for all he knew, they could be after the same prize.
"Cat, look for a window and keep an eye on things. I am going to brief Smoke. We may have to move faster than we thought." Aldin moved off back toward the tavern with a quick step.
Smoke looks very interested and curious at the information the barkeep shares with him.
How dreadfull. But very interesting information. Thank you for sharing this with me. What is the name and direction of the town that was just raided? Perhaps we will travel in there to find out more.
He looks around to watch what the group is doing, seeing Jorel stand at the table with the other patrons. As it seems to be going without troubles Smoke looks back at the barkeep to listen to his reply.
Black Cat, when inspecting and looking for a window, make a Perception check.
"The town of St. Jarren, I believe," the barkeep says. Then looking over at where Smoke was looking, he points to Jorel. "Him, talking to the patrons? Is he in your party?"

Black Cat, as you step closer to the monastery, you only can spot a large broken part of the roof of the first floor of the monastery, that is about twenty feet up from your current position. The voices get a little louder as you draw near, and they're almost able to be made out of what species they are.

Inside the Tavern, Ash is people watching and listening in to as many conversations as she can - I doubt she’ll hear much, but perhaps there’s useful/interesting gossip while the sneaky people sneak.
With that perception roll, Ash is able to pick up on near everything around her. She caught the endings of the conversation between Jorel and Daeryn, Devlin, and Maledin, as well as the few other patrons sitting in the corners.
Ash picks up on one particular conversation in the corner between a tiefling and a human. They're mid-conversation, but it's rather easy to decipher the topic of the conversation.
"I hear the second-in-command and his legions are coming through next week," the human explains.
"I know, I've heard the same. I have to get out of this town. They've let me stay for this near 3 decades, but I doubt they'll be lenient now," the tiefling responds. "Do you know the fastest way out of town?"

"Well, no. But I know the people that he was talking to...they're not all the greatest of folk. Like that Lord Devlin," the barkeep explains, motioning to the one with the dark hair. "Well...let's just say he's caused a lot of pain to this town over the years."

Aldin steps back in to the tavern after speed walking back. He notices Smoke talking at the bar and approaches him and leans beside him not making much eye contact with the tender, "The Cat is hunting for some prey outside. It may have competition." The statement is coded, while not the full cant that he had learned from Black Cat previously, he is sure the meaning would carry.
Smoke sees Aldin standing beside him and has a slightly worried look on his face, knowing Aldin would not interrupt a conversation without good cause.
After hearing his message he looks back to the barkeep.
I will keep that in mind, thank you for this chat, it was most informative. But im afraid business calls, you know how it is
He puts a grin on his face making it look casual.
We have plans to make for our journey, perhaps we shall speak again soon. Untill then good night.
Smoke walks away from the bar expecting Aldin to walk with him to the group. He then addresses the group still standing at the table loud enough for some near patrons to hear.
The quick rest is over. Let us gather the rest of our belongings outside so we can finish up for today. He makes a sincere face while looking at several people in the group to make sure they get the message and leave the place with him.
Rounding everyone up outside in a small huddle he will whisper so the group hears him but not anyone else that might be in the street.
Hopefully we all learned some things but unless it is very urgent we will discuss this later. Aldin what news do you bring, is Black Cat safe?
He motions the group to start walking while Aldin explains the situation to save time in case it is needed.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Black Cat seeing the hole in the roof will look up at it and then back to the entrance to the place. And will decide to try and climb up to see if he can make anything out.
Acrobatics: 10
Stealth: 12
If he feels he is making too much noise, he will start to make the noises of a barn owl rustling around.
If I need to make a roll for Deception: 4 Though hopefully my perfect Mimicry should work <fingers crossed>
[OOC: Knew I should have just gone through the front door.]
You are able to climb up the rough old building with some struggle, but some of the pieces you have your hands on slip and rocks crack off, falling to the ground with a large thud before breaking apart into a million different pieces. Your owl impression, despite your Mimicry, comes out a bit as if the barn owl was being strangled.
You hear the voices raise. You've raised yourself to a perch right next to the hole in the roof. At that point, you hear the sound of wings, and within seconds you see, flying in the air, staring down at you, a Spined Devil watches you with intent, its bloodthirsty eyes staring you down.
[OOC: The moral of the story is: always just use the front door]

Aldin continues his briefing as they walk, "We found the temple easy enough. It is in rough shape but we found several tracks and low voices from inside.
I hadthought them to be locals but they walked off the beaten path, so to speak. I fear we may have competition for our prize." The dark man led them further.
NIrug hears the summons of his companions from the bar and follows out. He doesn't like being in the city, not unless it was for a job, and the job was hunting something. Despite that, money is money and a job still has to get done. He walked slowly but his long gait easily kept pace with the others. After Aldin described the situation, he frowned and then smiled. He was still angry at the Elves from before and this... this could be the way to vent his smoldering anger.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Black Cat will close his eyes, let out a soft sigh, and then scream in a child's voice as loud as he can, "Help! Monsters at the shrine attacking me!" and then will jump down off the roof to hopefully land on his feet and make a run for it.
Black Cat jumps and lands beautifully, with the grace of a trained acrobat, taking 0 damage and not being slowed. It doesn't seem to be worth the Spined Devil's time, so, keeping his eyes on the Kenku, slowly descends back down into the monastery.
