If its an attack it will have its own mod for the attack, then a seperate roll for any additional damage. Just to help with the multiple dice rolling in one attack/ turn.
It gets difficult if you have 3 attacks, then an action surge, plus brutal crit, plus fire. Or if youre just a monk. Lol
Sorry, are you referring to mine? I just have the 1 attack that's 2d6+3 and gets an extra 1d4 of lightning damage. I just made it put it into one damage roll so it will properly calculate if I get a crit.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I know. I'm confused here haha. I was just making sure all my damage die (2d6 + 1d4) were in the damage roll. If I did the 1d4 separately it wouldn't be doubled if I got a crit. I'm not quite sure what you're saying; I rolled 1 attack (d20+5) and my damage (2d6 + 1d4 + 3) from that attack.
I did this: Attack: 19 Damage: 11 (2d6 slashing and 1d4 lightning in one damage roll, plus my +3 modifier)
Rather than this: Attack: 19 Damage: 10 slashing + 2 lightning (2d6 plus my +3 modifier slashing in the "damage roll," 1d4 lightning seperate)
Just to make sure that if I did get a crit, the 1d4 would be doubled automatically as well. I know the modifier isn't doubled. If I don't include the 1d4 in the actual damage roll of the attack, it won't auto-double it on a crit.
Sorry, I don't mean to be That Guy The Rules Lawyer, but all die are doubled on crits:
Critical Hits
When you score a critical hit, you get to roll extra dice for the attack's damage against the target. Roll all of the attack's damage dice twice and add them together. Then add any relevant modifiers as normal. To speed up play, you can roll all the damage dice at once.
For example, if you score a critical hit with a dagger, roll 2d4 for the damage, rather than 1d4, and then add your relevant ability modifier. If the attack involves other damage dice, such as from the rogue's Sneak Attack feature, you roll those dice twice as well. (Emphasis mine)
Final say is up to you as DM, of course. I can roll it separately going forth if that's what you'd prefer.
No worries at all, sorry for the confusion. It seems a bit different as it is elemental damage, but it's a class feature just as much as Sneak Attack is.
I am always happy to go with DM rulings. Just want to make sure everyone is on the same page before rulings are made. Thanks Ben :)
Yeah dude. Im just here to have fun and have had plenty of my own rule arguments and some have ended badly.
Any way.
The goblins skin crackles as the blade sinks into the clavicle about 5 inches, and starting from within, there is a light blue glow that slowly makes the entire torso and head glow. Then his eyes glow, they shine out seeing the bloodthirsty grin of Vazak, then burst and electricity sparks from the sockets.
Baxthon Initiative: 15
We are just the best at initiative rolls.
Leg, 5. Eye, 12. Vazak, 9. Leon, 7. Baxthon, 8. Marius?
Lol its fine. Youre not as bad as Pike.(Ashley Johnson)

OOC: Oh my word, those are bad rolls.
How am I first in our party again I rolled a 9.
I blame Rick. Or maybe Evil Morty.
The Rickest Rick.

Leg, 5.
Marius, 4
The goblin with a bad leg limps forward with his shortbow raised, and fires at the biggest target, Vazak.
Attack: 7 Damage: 6
Vazak deflects the arrow with ease, crying out "Hah, puny creatures!" Before rushing forth and swinging at the goblin who shot him.
Attack: 18 Damage: 7 (first 2 die are slashing, 3rd is lightning)
Following Vazaks lead, Baxthon charges the other goblin, and slashes at it with his axe.
Attack: 8 Damage: 10

On a crit it calculates it all for you. It just doubles the die, not the modifier. The dice roller is made to do everything you need

The 1d4 is additional lightning damage, and not doubled on a crit. Its still just added to the damage. Not doubled.
Your great axe is 2d6+3 plus crimson rite

I didnt know that crimson rite also falls in that category. I stand corrected.
Thats why we play. We learn. Some rules are vague and some very direct. It was just a mumbled mess, lol. and your variant is new to me.

He dead. Which may be why Baxthon misses.
Leon?
attack with long sword.
Attack: 18 Damage: 9
Close, but a miss. The goblin will look at you with his one eye, and slash back, Leon.
Attack: 10 Damage: 6 ,
Marius is up.
