Chrys, knowing with her dwarven speed is fighting a losing battle trying to keep up with the gnolls, or even her own allies, drops to one knee to give herself cover (prone) and simply prepares a javelin for throwing and makes herself ready to leap to her feet and throw it if one approaches again to get within 30 feet of her.
(afaik with 25ft speed, even the closest is now40‘ away from Chrys and beyond optimal jav range)
If they are really just retreating out to extreme bow range, Lumen also doesn’t want to charge them, so he will form up around Chrys and bring the illusion back closer to the group to try to give even more cover, making the barlgura swell to expand into the full 15foot cubic entity. Whether or not it completely obfuscates them, it certainly doesn’t help the aim of the gnolls. “Should we return to the road and see if we can lose them? Don’t want to chase archers in the rain in the tall grass.”
Even though the storm clouds are casting menacing darkness over the terrain, it’s still light enough to see where the road is, even as you move through the tall grass. The heavy rain continues to patter down with heavy drops. Vesper moves forward and sends a fire bolt at the same gnoll she hit before, and her aim is just true enough. The bolt strikes the gnoll in the leg and he swats at with one hand, trying to pat out the painful flames.
Near her, Kess takes aim with her own bow and sends an arrow right in the center of the chest. The creature yips in pain, but remains on his feet and reaches for another arrow.
Krackle would continue to dash through the wet grass towards the gnolls, racing as fast as he could as snot drips from the bears snout. The creature would breath hard as he pounded his way through the mud and grass..
(I assume I need to dash to really make any ground since moving 40 ft isnt going to get me close to them any time soon. Dash is 80 feet as a bear, woot!)

The Krackle bear continues to charge forward towards the two closer gnolls, bounding through the tall, rain soaked grass with surprising speed. In just a few seconds, it covers the rest of the distance and now finds himself directly in front of the two snarling, yipping creatures.
As they watch him approach, they both drop their bows and grab long spears, gripping tightly with both hands. Both gnolls make quick, aggressive thrusts at the bear, stabbing with fury and malice.

Lumen turns back to see Kracklebear running headlong into danger to chase the gnolls. He looks at Chrys. For a microsecond he closes his eyes and sighs.
He swivels back to the gnolls and says, "Krackle does want to chase archers in the rain in the tall grass. Better go help him." He races forward, struggling to come to terms with the fact that for the foreseeable future, his existence somehow revolves around chasing after a foolish sometimes-evil kobold who can turn into a bear.
Getting within 60 feet of the gnolls, he croaks more guttural rumblings that target one of the gnolls in particular.
He casts dissonant whispers on the gnoll that seems most injured, from what he can tell from this distance. 14 psychic damage on a failed WIS 14 save.

Gnoll WIS save: 18
As the mind damaging melody enters the ears of the injured gnoll, (the one who was already hit twice by Vesper’s spell attacks), you see the creature’s face twist into a terrified expression of agony. Its fur bristles, its ears go back and it lets out a desperate howl just as a huge crack of thunder booms overhead, and it falls to the grass, disappearing from view.
The two other gnolls, who have moved back, seemingly in order to keep their distance from you, both aim their bows at Kess, having just witnessed her keen archety skills.
Kess is hit by both arrows, one of which sinks deeply into the front of her right thigh and causes excruciating pain, moreso than a regular arrow would likely cause. It feels as if the arrow is barbed, and it hurts so much, that it restricts her movement to only 10’ until the end of her next turn.
The second arrow pierces her left side, just below the ribs, and while it’s not nearly as painful, it definitely hurts.

Chrys would, on her turn, stand up, sigh, and mutter under her breath, "Kids..." Then she'd run forward as far as she could after having stood, and lob her javelin at the gnoll attacking the Krackle bear.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Kess screams in agony as one of the gnoll archer manages a lucky shot that penetrates far and deep into her leg. She grimaced as she looked down and noticed the barbed arrowhead poking out of her leg, another arrow drilled into her side, feeling warm crimson dripping down her flesh.
If any of the party can see her, she's not looking very good. At all.
Grimacing and using her adrenaline to push through the pain, Kess takes another shot at the gnoll she wounded earlier, hoping to finish him off: 18 + 2 *
Damage if it hits: 8
Using what strength she could muster through the pain, Kess would then drop prone on her left side, edging herself through the grass to try and stay out of sight, pulling 10 feet back.
After running through the wet, chest high grass as fast as her booted feet will carry her, Chrys is still about 75 feet away from the ggnoll that’s still engaged with Krackle. She hucks her javelin anyway, but with such a long throw, it doesn’t even come close.
However, behind her, Kess does her best to wince through the pain and fire an arrow at that gnoll. Whether it’s the pain, or her ability to ignore it, she focuses on Lumen’s inspiring words and makes a perfect shot. Her aim is dead on, and she places the arrow right in the creature’s throat, killing it instantly.
So, now, both gnolls that we’re on Krackle are dead, and the two others are an additional 30 feet back and starting to retreat.
If that's the case, then Vesper will use her movement to turn around and start to get back to the road, trusting that with his new powers, Krackle would stand a better chance against the fleeing gnolls than he would if he were just a kobold.

Looking at the Initiative order, Vesper shot her fire bolt at the gnoll on Krackle, and injured it further, and then Kess’s arrow finally killed it.
(OOC:Well she'd turn back on her next turn, since the gnolls are retreating and she sees no need to pursue them)
